One of my prized possessions. 1956 Cobra w/shoulder rig. As the story goes,it was purchased new by a newly retired chief of police. He only had it a few days when he passed away. Only shot it a few times. His son wound up with it years later when his mother passed and it was found still hanging in the back of his father's closet which had never been cleaned out.( Mid-70s) I'm an old friend of his wife,so when he passed in 2020,she called me to see if I wanted it at a fair price. I was happy to give her $500 for it and now it rests in my safe, unfired in 68 years . Unfortunately, the box disappeared somewhere long before I got it,but it and the black leather holster rig still looks brand new.😁
My Dad passed last Nov, he gave me a 1959 Colt Cobra his Dad purchased, he was a Detroit cop. Grandpa must not have carried it often as it is like new with the original box and paperwork. I was advised to not shoot it as it seems to have rarely been fired at all.
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry for your loss. If you decide to shoot it or just keep it as a reminder of your father's service, I'm sure it will fill the role nicely.
@@30secondtactics Thank you. He left a few others as well, this one and the 1936 S/42 Luger are the highlights. It also in in excellent condition with 2 magazines and holster.
@@30secondtactics Thank you. He left me a few of them, the Colt and a 1936 S/42 Luger with 2 magazines and holster are the sweet ones. Also a Beretta 92FS, again in damn near perfect condition.

My Dad was a police officer from 1962 to 1970. He carried a Ruger Speed Six .38/.357 among others.
RUGER makes some great guns.
If he didn’t work past 1970, he never carried a Speed Six on the job. It wasn’t in existence then.
Love them classic wheel guns!
Me too. Thanks for watching.

I have two nickel plated Cobras, one from 1968 and one from 1978
Nice
Comment about recoil😢 is it comfortable to shoot being aluminium and all........
Recoil isn't bad but it would be better with better grips.
