- Sjoukje Rosalinde Dijkstra (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʃʌukjə ˈdɛikstra], born 28 January 1942) is a Dutch figure skater. She is the 1964 Olympic champion in ladies' singles, the 1960 Olympic silver medalist, a three-time World champion (1962-1964), five-time European champion (1960-1964), and the six-time Dutch national champion (1959-1964).[1]

Спасибо, что можно это посмотреть. Мне иногда даже больше нравится то старое фигурное катание. Об этой спортсменке даже не знала, интересно как сложилась её жизнь в дальнейшем. Катались на открытом маленьком катке. И костюмы консервативны, но такие женственные. В особенности сейчас не понимаю современные танцы, из них ушла душа и красота, остались твизлы и и акробатика в полуголом виде.
Так холодно 😂на открытом катке- то.......

Здесь я сравниваю ее с собой. Смог бы я так сделать? Искусство недалеко ушло. И я восхищаюсь ее мастерством. Хочу так же научиться. Эти показы имеют смысл. А когда искусство становится запредельным, мы, конечно, им восхищаемся. Но понимаем, для нас это невозможно. И радость сменяется унынием.

This is Sjoukje's performance at the 1959 Europeans. I believe she used the same programme at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley. What a powerful double axel .

Точно. Я тоже об этом подумала. Кажется что она ничего особенного не делает по сравнению с тем что сейчас фигуристы делают.
Сейчас дети такое катают😊...за исключением ласточки назад, и отката назад ( в конце) - сейчас не видно такого....
Зато скандалов с допингом не было

Не забывайте, что и коньки, и лёд имеют значение. Сегодня всё это другого качества. Ну и техника конечно совершенствуется, хотя прыжки для того времени выглядят очень достойно.

And those higher boots they wore at that time! Peggy Fleming was in the wings in 1964, about to shine some light again for US figure skating after the 1961 tragedy.

Why do we watch these movies of long ago skaters? Because they paved the way for today's skaters. Because we recognize that some child many years ago watched them skate and said "I can do that.". They paved the way for so many . . .

Not really feminine but for those days a true athlete. Her direct opponent Joan Haenappel (alos Dutch) was way more elegant but sjoukjes jumps were off the charts for those days. A Dutch television reporter once said after her performance;"Now the limit of what is humanly possible is reached!" Little did he know ;-) Some nasty commentators in Holland called her a Frisian horse and Joan a princess. So definately not feminine but the best there was back then.

It gave me something of a shock to see how primitive figure skating was when I was young. I remember her as the big name at that time.
She almost looks like she's afraid of falling. Very little extension of the arms or legs, spins and jumps aren't tight. Looks like a beginner.
But that's how the sport has evolved. It takes coaching and development from early childhood. Plus the use of video cameras to help develop form has been a real game changer.
"Primitive"? She was so graceful, and her choreography so lovely.
Just like the tech of OG "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" don't measure up to the tech of movies like "Johnny Mnemonic" but kick its AAAAAASSSSSS as regards plot, heart, and fan obsessiveness.
Sjoukje is foundational...anything but "primitive."

my daughter is 9 and she skates in Poland and Russia since she is 4. She just watched this video and some other very old videos and was fascinated but also had to laugh because "they sleep on ice". So funny (but not meant respectles, its just the way it was)
Took me ages to find this, I much admired her when I was young. Thanks . The ice area seems small, people sitting with their feet on the ice and those wee flags marking off an area must have been difficult .

She starred in an ice show at our arena in late 1960's.
Para época, uma coreografia simples porém, perfeita sem erros ou quedas. Não sei a idade dela naquela época, mas também não eram comum patinadoras muito novas competindo, bem diferente dos dias de hoje.

People of 60s liked the figure skating jumps. Today's judges reduce points for quads because Trusova from Russia.
But she is the best, isn’t she?
And modern jumps are even more difficult in figure skating. And even more so from Alexandra Trusova. She's the best!

Es istvwie beim Turnen in der Zeit. Das Ballet hatte noch keinen Einzug in den Sport gehalten. Da darf auch mal was angewinkelt sein. Sport diente dem Körper und nicht umgekehrt. Interessantes Video

You are right, even children today can do de better than that. On the other hand, I was invited to coach some of these children in dancing during the off season. After three lessons I stopped and told the "provincial FC school" I wasn´t the right trainer for them because they were rude, badly raised *ssh*les and the moms were even worse. At least back in Sjoukjes days people still knew how to behave.
Это было более 60 лет назад. Каждый высказывает свою точку зрения, кому-то нравиться, или не нравиться. Но есть что то неуловимое и трогательное, это ушло и не вернётся. Может это душа фигурного катания. Всё в прошлом. А сейчас налопаются допингов и скачут как оглашенные.

Мне жио уатание симпатичнее современных акробатов. В этом старом - душа, музыкальность, танец и пластика. Сейчас - как в порно - акробаты с ращбросанными во все стороны конечностями и бешеным ритмом.
Где вы увидели пластику? Она негнущаяся, как дерево. И артистизма ноль. Техника, наверное, для того времени нормальная.

Потому что элементы легкие и нет такой сильной нагрузки как у современных фигуристов. По этой причине спортсмены сейчас завершают карьеру в 15 лет
