I'm not a professional mechanic but this is what I've read previously: Pushing the brake piston back in, without opening the bleed nipple can reverse the seal in the master cylinder, In (some) VW cars (I'm not sure about others) allowing all the vrake fluid to drain out of the system requires a software procedure to bleed the abs unit. Keeping the brake pedal slightly depressed which the braking system is open will keep the brake fluid from draining out of the master cylinder. Good work getting it fixed & thanks for sharing.
Hi, the newer the car the worse the hassle from the technology. Complex systems just for the sake of it and to make to cars not economically repairable. At least this car did not need to be told it had a different ABS unit, cheers

Yes, it was hassle to find, but in retrospect, if you feel the ABS working through the pedal then the unit is on its way out, cheers
You don't need ABS, just join out the pipes.
I knew that would be your view, also would have to get into the ECU, cheers
