This is brilliant. As someone who considers The Decline the GREATEST and most well-written punk rock tune EVER, hearing this treatment of it really just floors me. So powerful, and so well done. Great job!!!
Why do kids always confuse subjective enjoyment with objective quality? The Decline is an excellent song, but saying it is the best punk song ever is callow and ironic. Punk's too diverse for anyone to be in a position to say what's the best, plus what makes a composition objectively good and why? The last part is still debated for a reason. (Examples of punk's diversity: Hot Cross, Off Minor, Discharge, Yaphet Kotto, Nation of Ulysses, Sonic Youth, Suicide, Pavement, Bad Brains, Combatwoundedveteran, The Vaselines, Algernon Cadwallader, Make Do and Mend and La Dispute.)
wrarmatei "as someone who considers.." .. kind of negates any argument. I'm not in disagreement from the point you're attempting to convey, but the original statement clearly pointed out that it was of his personal opinion.
Wow, let me try to type this. A long time fan of NOFX and also into orchestras and all instruments, this hit the spot. First came the goose bumps, next came the tears. What a fantastic thing to do, and to record and share with the world. I wish you all the very best. Thank you again.
YEAHH What they did is amazing. So Brilliant... really. I'm so proud of being one of the musicians in the orchestra haha X) The arrangement, the video... perfect. Thank you Bravo, c'est super :D Je suis trop contente d'avoir pu participer à un projet comme ça ^^ Merci
I bet the guys from Nofx are extremely humbled by this, including Spike who sang backing vocals and Lars from Skanking Pickle who played trombone on the original recording!!! So beautiful!! I have so much respect for whoever created this and am very grateful B.A.Z, for sharing this with us!! Many Thanks!!
This really highlights the quality of the music that NOFX achieved with this song. I've moved past their brand of music for the most part, but The Decline always succeeds in impressing me, no matter how many times I hear it.
I love how the conductor plays the Xylophone. Great stuff, gives me goose bumps everytime I hear this peice. Love all the comments on this, glad to see so many NOFX fans broaden there minds.
Waouh, y avait 300 vue hier soir quand je l'ai partagé... Et maintenant 30 000 :o C'est bien mérité je dis, quelle superbe travaille. Merci pour ce superbe moment. BAZ, you are PUNK ROCK !!!
Remember when this song first came out? I was 16 yrs old, living in Florida, sooooo INTO music, and had already been into Fat Wreck Chords stuff since '94 This song came out, and blew Everybody away! ...Everybody had it. Everybody talked about it... and that's the double-truth, Ruth!
Sitting on my porch, early AM Saturday morning enjoying what only music can bring me.. I must share this..the world would be a better place if music could touch everyone
Incredible. I'm speechless. I love The decline, it always makes that 18 minutes worth listening, and you guys just made a masterpiece from a masterpiece, such talented people.
yes, this is punk rock. and they wrote a fu*king symphony. i mean NoFX, not the Orchestra, but they did the great job anyways. and thank You, i actually cried (almost 4 times but tears went down in part "And so we go, on with our lives, we know the truth, but prefer lies [...] He's got his, and I've got mine, meet the decline". No sarcasm, thank You. It was amazing, I'm still droppin' tears and YOU give me an amazing moment in my life that won't be repeated again. Thank You.
I have no words for how amazing this is! The punk rocker in me is amazed and the band nerd in me is full of emotions and can't stop crying! This is beautiful. Thank you so much for this!
I can´t describe the feeling, of listening to this master peace, i grow up listening to NOFX in Mexico, and made me see the world in a whole different way, and i think that its a gift for all the future generations out there, to appreciate and incarnate that sound to your every day life. The future belong to us !
What a great part at 7:25. You expect another hard hit of the horns and percussion, but instead you get this beautiful rising sound from the woodwinds/strings. Best part of the song I think.
Very impressive undertaking! You guys really nailed some of my favorite parts! So hard to compare a live orchestra with efforts in a studio but you should be proud!
Good Effort! What a fabulous idea! Could have done with a bit more rehearsal time as there were a few tuning/togetherness issues but I guess that makes it all the more punk rock right?
Thank You / Merci / Danke / Takk / Gracias / Gràcies for this superb 20 minutes of wonderful music that might have costed you weeks or months to practice and plan. Also for creating this masterpiece of a version from is what many will say the best punk rock song. It really (as said by chuck ware) floors everyone that loves Nofx and The Decline which might be a modern classic of the genre, music and a future classic for those who come after. You made my day, everyone of you. MERCI!
This is brilliant. As someone who considers The Decline the GREATEST and most well-written punk rock tune EVER, hearing this treatment of it really just floors me. So powerful, and so well done. Great job!!!
Likewise, mate. Likewise.
chuck ware agreed. greatest punk rock song of all time. and that is an understatement.

Nope. Its americana and liberalism the movement defined. Pure art.
That even shows once more how brilliant and unique Fat Mike‘s songwriting is!

I have so much respect for whoever created this and am very grateful B.A.Z, for sharing this with us!! Many Thanks!!

"The Decline" sometimes makes me. Especially when I saw it live. ;)
They messed it up both times I saw it live, still the best though, maybe even better.
dana merizzi Haha, did they? Not when I saw 'em. - ruclips.net/video/3RNrJthKHIo/видео.html
