Special project for the 15th anniversary of THE DECLINE by NOFX.
"THIS IS PUNK ROCK" : This is a "DIY" project. BAZ wrote a special orchestral arrangement for this punk rock masterpiece and
gathered 50 musicians to play it live, once, and totally for free.
Just for the cause.

This is brilliant. As someone who considers The Decline the GREATEST and most well-written punk rock tune EVER, hearing this treatment of it really just floors me. So powerful, and so well done. Great job!!!

chuck ware agreed. greatest punk rock song of all time. and that is an understatement.
Why do kids always confuse subjective enjoyment with objective quality? The Decline is an excellent song, but saying it is the best punk song ever is callow and ironic. Punk's too diverse for anyone to be in a position to say what's the best, plus what makes a composition objectively good and why? The last part is still debated for a reason.
(Examples of punk's diversity: Hot Cross, Off Minor, Discharge, Yaphet Kotto, Nation of Ulysses, Sonic Youth, Suicide, Pavement, Bad Brains, Combatwoundedveteran, The Vaselines, Algernon Cadwallader, Make Do and Mend and La Dispute.)

I wish I still had my video, there was a 20 minute accordion solo at one show.
This makes me cry - usually The Decline invokes tears of desolation; this verson does that but too tears of beauty and hopefulness
Wow, let me try to type this. A long time fan of NOFX and also into orchestras and all instruments, this hit the spot. First came the goose bumps, next came the tears. What a fantastic thing to do, and to record and share with the world. I wish you all the very best. Thank you again.

I love how the conductor plays the Xylophone. Great stuff, gives me goose bumps everytime I hear this peice. Love all the comments on this, glad to see so many NOFX fans broaden there minds.

I was 16 yrs old, living in Florida, sooooo INTO music, and had already been into Fat Wreck Chords stuff since '94 This song came out, and blew Everybody away!

Which instrument did you play?
This really highlights the quality of the music that NOFX achieved with this song. I've moved past their brand of music for the most part, but The Decline always succeeds in impressing me, no matter how many times I hear it.

yes, this is punk rock. and they wrote a fu*king symphony. i mean NoFX, not the Orchestra, but they did the great job anyways. and thank You, i actually cried (almost 4 times but tears went down in part "And so we go, on with our lives, we know the truth, but prefer lies [...] He's got his, and I've got mine, meet the decline".

What a great part at 7:25. You expect another hard hit of the horns and percussion, but instead you get this beautiful rising sound from the woodwinds/strings. Best part of the song I think.

I can´t describe the feeling, of listening to this master peace, i grow up listening to NOFX in Mexico, and made me see the world in a whole different way, and i think that its a gift for all the future generations out there, to appreciate and incarnate that sound to your every day life.
