- Join me in the woods as I get some tractor therapy. I mess around with my John Deere 1025r tractor, 120r Loader, Wallenstein BX36S Chipper, Westendorf BC-4200 Brush Crusher, and Heavy Hitch Toothbar. I have a long list of projects to tackle this year and am determined that some of them are actually going to get done unlike years prior!
The first big project is to carve a path through the woods to fit a tractor and grade a ravine so that I can install food plots for deer hunting in the fall. I think the Heavy Hitch toothbar is the perfect tool to tackle the rocky ground that's found on my hunting lease and the Brush Crusher will help clear the way through the woods. I ran out of time to give the Wallenstein BX36s chipper a proper meal, but at least got to try it out briefly. There will be plenty more opportunities to put it to the test.

I recently bought the Dewalt 60v flex chainsaw, I am very impressed with the power and battery longevity before needing a recharge. I cut 18 cedars 4 - 6" diameter and trimmed the limbs off with one battery. I bought the Piranha tooth bar and am very impressed with that also, cuts small trees at ground level or pulls small trees up by the root. Works good on vines and overgrowth and moves rocks with ease, and makes it easier to scoop up mulch, dirt, gravel etc.
I recently bought an 80 volt, 16" Greenworx electric to sub for my old 20" Stihl 044, which is in the shop for what's become an annual carb cleaning ritual. The Greenworx is
light weight, quiet, starts and stops on a dime, and is worth every penny I paid. It uses Oregon chains, which is good. It does not tire me out after one cutting. It does not
stall out. It has become my chain saw of choice to maintain my 20 acres of woodland in the N.C foothills around Wilkesboro. The Stihl, when I get it back, will be a reserve
backup in emergencies where a 20" bar may be a better choice. Battery technology is betting better and better, and I think that's a good thing.

These videos are great for us to learn what our tractors can really do, and what attachments we really need.
I have the 60v DeWalt. Most of the work cutting a tree up is limbing. The cordless chainsaws are perfect for that. Light. Relatively quiet. Cut well. No fumes. Oil tank is smallish. I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

I'm envious. I just found out I'm a 1 hour per week tractor person from previous video. You were showing some skill moving that dirt. I enjoy my brush crusher it has helped tremendously. The chipper made quick work with that tree which was very impressive. I was surprised to see those large rocks you uncovered. Thanks for sharing.

Two days ago my 1025R visited the western side of my woods because I finally built a bridge over my Trouble Creek. Man did it feel good.

We have that dewalt 20v chainsaw and several other dewalt outdoor tools and we're happy with them. As long as you have reasonable expectations of these 20v tools you can't go wrong.

The Dewalt 20V saw is fantastic for small stuff. By small I mean anything up to like a 4" diameter. I've used mine as such for several months and am pleased - surprised actually by the battery life. Thanks for the video!

I have the Milwaukee M18 chainsaw. Its a great little machine for quick projects when I dont want to dig out the Stihl gas saw. They definitely come in handy. I also use that same toothbar on my 2025r and I love how much it adds to these tractors.

Great video. Very impressed by how much you were able to dig with the tooth bar on the loader bucket. I have the Dewalt DCM575 54v (equivalent of the 60v in the states) flexvolt Chainsaw. With a 9 ah battery it will get through a serious amount of lumber and while you won’t be cutting redwoods with it, I’ve cut a couple of forty footers with it no problem.

Careful backing up with an implement on and being in that small ravine. You were digging in a few times. I have a x738 and would love that chipper if it would work for me. Going to have to look into that. Great content. Keep it up and be safe.

Bought a green work electric chain saw and just love it, great for small stuff! Duel wheels look like they work great!
I have several Dewalt 20v tools including the chainsaw. I love them all. The chainsaw is great for a quick cut here and there without the hassle of starting a gas model.

Recently bought the 20v Dewalt polesaw, if you let the chain do the work & not bind up, it’s awesome. 2 x 5AH batteries lasted over an hour. I also have the Echo 58V saw, with the exception of the factory chain, its excellent as well.
I spent significant time looking at all the tooth bar designs I could find, and decided on the Heavy Hitch. Now that I've used the HH for a few months, I'm glad I chose it!
The teeth on the HH, are incredibly useful, for breaking up sod, scarifying hard ground, and digging up rocks and roots. I discovered, that my Titan clamp on pallet forks - clamp on right over the tooth bar. That lets me leave the tooth bar on, all the time. The Heavy Hitch Tooth Bar, is a fantastic tractor upgrade!
My X590 is to small for some things I want to do. So in a couple yrs I need a 3 series JD. May have to check you out. Good video. Can’t wait to see more.

My uncle & I came up with that phrase because he & I both had served in the Military in seperat wars (he was in the Vietnam conflict & I was in Operation Desert Storm). So. . . ..unfortunately we both do from PTSD. So one of the best ways to help as well as cope with things, is to be out on the tractors. Sometimes were on our John Deeres together, helping each other or we're doing our own thing. We'll call each other up & say, "Hey, ya wannuh come over for some Tractor Theropy???" Of course i'm quite sure ya done knowed the answer to that question, lol lol lol! So, this is where "Tractor Theropy" came from.

Pretty happy with my 20v DeWalt. One thing to remember, you will run out of bar oil before battery unlike a gas saw where you will generally run out of gas first.
I noticed that bar oil was running down quickly.
looks like you have enough downed timber to build a bridge over the ravine using the chain saw and the brush crusher
The JD looks alot more stable than factory with Duals for sure,looks great,the DeWalt works great,we use them at hunting camp on moose and caribou for cutting ribs,ect,use vegetable oil for bar oil,
It definitely aids in stability. Hard to tell just how uneven and steep some of the spots are in video. Makes a big difference. Never tried caribou, but moose is delicious!

Probably too late now but I'd have put a piece of 12 or 18 inch pipe in that ditch and then went right over it with the dirt to level it out and keep it from washing.
That is the long term plan if needed. However after spring and and fall rainy seasons, I can still easily traverse. No washout at all yet.

Not sure if it's ever much of an issue for the work you do, but the loader-hydraulic-connection dust covers can (usually) be hooked together to keep the insides of the covers cleaner. Which can help reduce the cleaning needed on the quick connects after the dust covers have been used to cover the hydraulic quick-connects.
Just a thought that came to mind when I noticed them hanging loose at a couple points in this video.

Thanks! I think toothbars and cutting edges have different purposes. The toothbars are definitely more aggressive and help with grabbing onto tangled messes of weeds, brush, even smaller logs or rocks by extending the bottom working edge of the bucket.
I’d just dug it out and put in gravel and a 12” cement culvert pipe. Not that expensive and upkeep over the next couple of decades is minimal.
I did almost no work to the ravine itself. Simply tapered the sides to make it navigable. That would have been a lot of wasted time and expense.

"Chippy" looks a lot like my 20+ year old Wallenstein, except mine has a much taller discharge chute.

I'm using Ego AND Milwaukee Electric saws...and just an FYI more than one tree service is experimenting with electric chainsaws for tree limb trimming from the bucket and in tree activities...:)

Great way to bring the bucket along grappled up. What does a 2020 1025r with bucket & loader cost? Isn't the 1025r 2wd with traction assist or is it a true 4wd transmission?
It's 4WD. True 4WD if locking diff is also used. Not sure on new cost for that setup. I only sell used. Maybe $15,000-16,000?

Hi Michael, yes, John Deere has designed the ROPS to lean forward in that manner. That is the fully upright position. I have only found that kit available for the 26x12x12 size. Still been looking for options on other tire sizes. Thanks for watching and have a great day!

A box blade might have made the ravine work easier.
You loaded those backwards. Shouldve put the little guy up front. With the little guy in front and the big one backed on you wouldve had plenty of tongue wieght

Okay, so you're a tractor dealer and can probably actually get whatever implements you want (well, within reason). Is this your actual gear -- what you personally use regularly? The reason I ask us because I figure you could get a "real" grapple at a good cost, but I see you using the Brushcrusher instead. Is it really that good? I'm seriously interested in getting one for my 3038e.

Hi Tim, I did a lot of research before starting to carry the Brush Crushers. Great reviews, well built product, made in the USA too. I pass up the opportunity to sell a lot of products as I don't feel they represent a good value for my customers. I can get most any attachment at dealer cost, but that really isn't the point. I want quality solutions for customers. Something like this Brush Crusher or the Worksaver electric grapple fill a void for the 90% of compact tractor owners who don't have a third function or diverter kit. Grapples have been out of reach for many due to the crazy cost of not just getting the grapple, but also paying for the additional hydraulic function.

Maybe it didn't show well in the video, but the stone, gravel, and rock is pervasive throughout this property. I'd say it would be an excellent choice.

What is going to keep the rain coming down that wash from taking your work downhill?
Gotta watch closer. I did almost nothing to the bottom. My work was grading the sides to make it a shallower crossing. Besides a very thin layer of added soil, I was driving across the rock already on the bottom of the washout.
My John Deere tractor didn't come with the hardened edge neither the holes to install the hard edge. Does John Deere have a hardened edge to strap on, or do i need to get one from Kubota? Also what are they getting for a good disk? Hows the prices on a discs, i've got a lot of rats to slice-up before i start to mow.?

Shouldn’t you put in a culvert for drainage when it rains? Will this just get washed away?
My thoughts also.
If you noticed, I added only a few inches if that to the ravine bottom. The majority of the work was tapering both sides to have a more gradual slope. I essentially drove over the bottom of the gully as it already existed. Adding a culvert would not have made sense in this application. If it were in the deeper section of the washout, then I would have done so. In fact, I already have a culvert on reserve from a friend if I choose to make another path in a different section of the woods.

It is a Wallenstein chipper. I don't think it's intended to make silage though.

No no no...this is GWT 😂👍So far, so good on the duals. I really like them. Only downside is that I'll never be able to operate a 72" wide tiller or cutter. I'm going to try out 60"ers on it which I think might be okay. Just don't like it when the rear attachments don't match up in width.
Good music, where do you source it? I’m starting to put up videos on utube once more after a break of five years. Back then I’d regularly get emails advising of music copyright violations even though I made up tracks in Garage Band on a Mac.
We have an Ego Powerplus chainsaw and it’s pretty good. Having confidence a machine will work by pressing a button is much better than cleaning out a carburettor. I dislike little petrol engines.
That’s a cool little setup with the tractor, bucket & chipper. It looks good & ready to take on a forest.
It is crazy in Australia too right now. Hopefully the restrictions will keep more of us healthy. I want to get back to my little farm & get to work there. Only three weeks to go till I’m out of the city and up there.

The new John Deere is not the same as the old ones .I have a 4310 doesn’t have much power the plastic body parts suck they break easily. And to top it off it has a yanmar engine made in India.
What is the reason for duel wheels on your subcompact tractor?

Hi Courtney, Nice tunes! Chippy worked great! I like how it is gravity feed. That brush crusher works good in the hand of a good operator. You might consider putting a black plastic corrugated culvert in that small creek. It would help level it up and keep the trail from washing out. You've probably already done something like that, but if not, check out Andrew Camarata's channel. The backhoe works great for that type of thing. Andrew is a fairly young one-man excavation company.
BTW, it seems that those duellies are providing a lot of extra traction. Great idea. Were you in 4WD filling in that creek?
Thanks Allen! Yeah, I was impressed with how the logs and limbs fed right into the chipper. The area I chose for crossing the ravine is really just the natural bottom. I more or less graded the embankments to provide a shallower crossing. We'll see as time goes by as I may need to add one in the future, but I'm guessing it'll be just fine. Yes, tires and dually combo is really a great combination. I love them!
when using the brush chipper what rpm do you run the tractor?

I have a 2019 jd 3025 e and am finding it difficult to get info on the hydraulics needed for a grapple, I see you are using the brush rusher. I want a grapple badly, so what is your honest opinion of the Brushcrusher. It Is fairly costly for being hydraulic free. What is your preference, and what direction can you help me with
Sir, I don't recommend products that I wouldn't use myself nor want my customers using. Believe me, there's tons of them out there that haven't made the cut. These have been around for years with positive reviews all over the internet. Compared to the combination of costs for a third function and hydraulic grapple, this is substantially cheaper.
