We make all our own shavings for our animals. My husband takes a log and runs the chain saw lengthwise down it in strips and shaving will come out of the back of the saw. It’s fast and easy. Sometimes you can get shavings from someone who has a sawmill.
@@LohreFarm we just got 8 ducklings, a gosling and 18 chicks. 5 feral barn cats live around here, a fox, skunk and possums. I had a stray dog run up the yard the other day. Can't wait till I put the electric fence up, because I know them creatures gonna go after my flock.
Yep, She just showed up, and was waiting outside in the morning for us. Extremely underweight and needed a lot of care. But she is doing great now. "It's weird though that the black one came in a plastic bag." I'm not sure what this means. Like the dog was dropped off in a bag?
Tell us about your animals. What breeds of ducks are you thinking about getting? 🦆
It is a good idea to have some cats around to keep mice and other grain eaters away. Besides they are fun to watch and they are so curious 😅.
Agreed. With 4 of them we better not have a single mouse for miles. 😂
In my chicken coop,
I use shredded paper, mostly newspaper but whatever fits in my shredder!
That's not a bad idea. I wonder how it would hold up for the ducks? They are much more messy than the chickens.
Subbed❤❤

Great idea! Tons of people who are into wood working are usually trying to find a way to get rid of them as well. Thanks for the awesome suggestions.
Thanks a lot for eye opening I was told that I remove my ducks in chickens that they will course them to fall sick
Yes, the ducks seem to be a very popular subject. They all interact well together and seem happy. Thank You for watching!
Do the cats ever go after the birds?
No, they don't really have any issues with the chickens or ducks. But, I wouldn't really trust them with baby chicks.

Sounds like you are in for a really busy year. The fence is a good idea.
How are they now? I have 8 ducks, 1 goose, and I am getting my furst chicks in a few months. I'm trying to decide how many 😄@ikesimplekin8334
I like how the homeless cat just inserted itself into your lives (I have a dog like that). It's weird though that the black one came in a plastic bag.

Duck and chickens work if you don't involve food and water.
Meaning? Our chickens and ducks dine together.
?? Some folks even feed them same feed, out of same dish.
As adults their feed is the same. But our free range mostly.
