Can I Really Fix My Boat Seats Myself?
Просмотров 5318 месяцев назад
Hi I'm Shane, and today I am attempting to fix my boat seats. I recently purchased a 1994 Malibu Flightcraft boat in August, and spent most of the last weeks of summer 2023 out on the lake. One big issue with this boat however is the interior. The 30 year old upholstery has met it's limit and needs to be replaced desperately. Marine Upholstery can be very expensive to have done. Take a Tour of My Dreamhouse Greenhouse Garden
I live a quarter mile from a trailer park....and we are the nearest farm. CATS..KITTENS...ROOSTERS..DOGS...even an egg bound hen . Its a real problem.
I didn’t think I was the only one, but dang a lot of people with similar stories. This sucks. Thanks for sharing.
i live next to a youth baseball field. People dump roosters and dogs all the time
That’s crazy. WOW!
Welcome to the reality of country living..
Well we been country livin’ for some time, but I get your sentiment.
@@LohreFarm Ive been carrying ppls chickens back home all my life, not that uncommon if you live in right area where ppl have chickens like back in the 70s. I wa s on a farm where all the farmers stopped by daily to bs with my grandfather..they will start laying in the old farm trucks etc and ride off. Bruce my neighbor has chickens all over this countryside. Not saying that's what happened to you, but it's common if you live in right area are have the right neighbor . I'm up two guenies and a chicken.. 1fresh egg daily under driver seat of boat in pic..
Yeah, can’t risk your flock to mystery roosters, too many factors even if they seem healthy still needa quarantine and watch first. Def can’t do that without a warning beforehand! Another thing “just drop animals off at the farm” city people need to understand is our roads have busy traffic, BIG traffic, mostly trucks and… that’s probably not going to end well. We had somebody dump a hugely pregnant dog in front of our driveway two days ago, not a first time either. Suddenly dawned on me this seems perfect stop and go place in the road to people. I was going to check my birds gobbling and crowing. When I went out the door and saw her, she got up from laying on side of the street(I instantly stopped to watch if she was limping or hurt)took a few steps and layed back down in the MIDDLE of the street. My neighbor told me she saw a truck stop, shove her out and leave TWO HOURS AGO. Temperature was in the 90s. Her daughter went over to try getting the dog, sweet thing just melts and rolls onto her back… but got spooked when they almost had her in their yard. Went back to wait in the spot she had been dumped, so much trust that surely her family were returning for her.
That’s crazy. Thankfully no dogs have been left YET. People need to be better. I’m sure if they knocked on your door you would not have been happy. But at least you could offer something. That sucks.
Oh and I loved the two ducks running in tall grass and tripping. That scene reminded me of the Little House on the Prairie intro field. You probably could clip it for a cute shorts vid. 🦆❤
@@HyppieElf haha, yes it makes me laugh ever time they see the pond and can’t get their bodies there fast enough.
I live in the sticks... I am frantically building a coop for a dumped roo that I spotted while driving home. I feel your frustration.
I have been thinking of chickens for years. So I am kinda thrilled but disappointed that someone would dump such a cool bird.
Like I said in the video. I wish they would have asked.
I almost have a coop built, but the bird is in a large dog kennel shielded with cardboard. And it's probably going to snow tonight. 😆 🤣 most people are ready before they get chickens, and even more of those get hens before a roo. I'm going about this a$$ backwards 🤪
If you have to many roosters and not enough hens then the rooster that’s not alpha will take advantage of the hens to the point that the hens don’t make it when alpha isn’t watching.
Yes, there needs to be a balance.
Just subscribed to your channel,Can really understand your frustration I have my own property and don’t want any dropped on mind don’t know if they sick could give mind sick in your case yours understand…..I would definitely love to see the ducks more that was the sweetest sight seeing them waddling down to the pond, yes please see more with the ducks and chickens…love the kitties Name love seeing it too I have plenty of them and they are my children ❤❤❤them …Enjoyed every word about people dumping their pets on you would love seeing more I enjoyed the video thanks from Miss Lisa from Louisiana ❤🤍💙🇺🇸❤🤍💙🇺🇸❤🤍💙🇺🇸
Thank you so much. The ducks are hilarious, and I will definitely try to show them more. Thanks for Sub'n.
Put a deer camera at the end of your driveway
Not a bad idea, but I kinda hope it never happens again too.
Sounds like free dinner and I have chicken to my own too
Haha, sounds like a plan. If you can find them. They are both yours.
Free dinner 😂
Haha, maybe. But who knows if something was wrong with those birds.
Sorry to hear that, I know people are just stupid at times. No, you cannot risk getting them in with your flock, as you don't have any history of them. It sucks that people own animals when they are not responsible enough to properly care for them.
Completely agree! ❤️
Since the 8N I'm getting will be for woods work, I'm having a welder friend of mine weld up a new front bumper that I can hang weights on as well as mount a winch. This is why I'm happy the 12V conversion has already been done
That’s sounds like a pretty cool idea. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed to go get the come a long.
I prefer the 8N personally due to the location of the distributor for when you need to adjust timing or clean up points (unless you've also upgraded to modern ignition). The ONLY thing i don't like is the lack of "live pto" / hydraulics (for safety reasons), but for a mower or woods tractor you can't beat it
I did see that a company made a way to deal with the live pro issue. I think they are pretty hard to find though.
I’m gonna leave my dog there next time im over
It’s funny that you think you’re welcome.
@@LohreFarm lol!
For us, it’s dogs & cats. They need to eat and end up eating the chickens. People from the city seem to have little understanding of nature and how it works, like they are going to be adopted or whatever. There is going to be competition between existing dogs & cats, competition for food, and of course, coyotes and bobcats. Even roosters will compete for food, dominance and reproduction. If all goes well, a quarantined rooster might end up as chicken stew. My guess is it’s another city folk that two of their Tractor Supply hens started crowing and a neighbor complained so instead of resolving the problem, they made it a country boy problem.
I think you are pretty much right on!
People dump lots of dogs and cats out here 🙄We have those burrs here too. Hate ‘em!
True, Unfortunately I don't think our situation is all that uncommon.
I just got mine a few months ago. I think its a '49, but Im not certain. It hasnt run in a few years so Im working on getting it going. I traded my cousin 4 years of hunting rights to my property for it. I dont hunt, so a total win on my part.
That’s awesome. The serial number on the side of the motor should help you figure out the year. Good trade!
Tractor has a beautiful paint scheme. Have you thought of just hooking a chain to them and just dragging the things out?
That might work for some. Might be tough with things like a double bottom plow. ha
External PTO hydraulic pump like power steering for many things like bailing or seed cleaning
Turnbuckle
Hydraulic tank on implement pump PTO drive on PTO tractor
Awesome!
She's so beautiful, and that girl, God bless you
Thank you!
Got my first 8n 3 months ago and absolutely love it!! 1:28
Awesome man! Congrats
why is everyone using dirrent types oil. You're using 20W-50, an some are using 10W-30. I just bought 10W-40, and am retinking now what to use. I'm in Michigan, and had my tractor rebuilt basck in 1993, and it runs great. I do use the WIX51010 filter with the loop on the top end. But whayt type oil shoould I use for an all weather oil?
Not real sure how to answer this one. In the 7 years I’ve had the tractor I probably used a few different weights. This one seems like the best so far. We are in central Minnesota which should be similar to you. I think it has more to do with engine wear for me. This just seems to work best on my tractor.
@@LohreFarm There are some great Ford tractor repair videos in RUclips put out by "Dan Gingell and Rachel Gingell" under that name, and they use Amsoil 15W40 Synthetic. I brought my 10W-30 back to the store and bought Mobil 15W-40. I have always trusted their advice and refer to their videos often. Check them out sometime. It's father Dan,, and daughter Rachel.
@lostinmyspace4910 yes, they have some pretty great repair and tune up videos , that’s for sure.
fuck fucking yes!
I’m assuming this is a sign of approval. 😂
This is a good excuse to have one tractor for each piece of equipment 😅
Haha, this might be the best comment we’ve ever had on a video! Actually, remove the word “might”. Haha
@@LohreFarm I have 3 for a reason 🤣
@@Jason1Pa That’s awesome!
7 years already!!! Dang! Epic paint by the way Shane!
Turned out pretty good.
🚜👍
Props. As a man, I’m not sure I would try and move those items by hand.
Yes. They are heavy.
I would love to hear from you guys on how I did for my first tractor drive and moving some equipment. ❤️
Looks good. Because of my car restoration days, I can’t help myself and will sand blast the grey stuff, but I am willing to let go and brush paint the red stuff. As you said, it turns into more time than you thought. They never get worth more than you put into them on an incredibly steep law of diminishing returns slope.
Oh I definitely get that. I think with this tractor, I have always loved all the little scrapes and dents so much. All that history, I just could not bare to bury it. Who knows, maybe someday I'll buy a tractor just to restore it back like new.
@@LohreFarm Right. Have 1000 hours and $3,000 invested and a tractor worth $4,500-$5,000 on a good day. Just stop the ravages of thermodynamics and prevent yourself from buying a tractor that depreciates and you’ll be happier IMHO.
That's probably true. It would have to be a project of pure passion.
looks great. Jealous. im very tempted to copy you
Do it! It really is hard not to stare at it now.
What do you think of the new paint job? I'd love to hear from you! Also, What year/model tractor do you have, and where you from?
Good job.
Thank you! I thought it turned out pretty good myself. Was never meant to be perfect.
Welcome to the Ford N Series.
Exactly. These things are great!
@@LohreFarm I have a 1941 9n runs great. My wife has a 1947 2n she repainted when we overhauled it. Last year we grew 1600 pounds of potatoes with our tractors.
@jeromejohnson6448 that’s so awesome. My wife drove the tractor for the first time this past weekend. I can’t wait to show everyone the video. I was very proud, she really did amazing. And dang that’s a lot of potatoes.
@@LohreFarm We grew them for practice and to show my family gave most away to help people. Look for a cole planter mx12, speedo one row potato planter. You will not be able to eat all the food you grow. Now is the time to by seeds on sale.
@jeromejohnson6448 That’s a good problem to have. The abundance can be huge.
What is your favorite thing about ducks?
Those are some nice ducks!!
Thank You! They are pretty awesome.
I have a 1950 Ford 8n. Love it!
Does it have the embossed rear fenders? If I remember correctly that was the first year Ford put those on the tractor. So cool.
Thank you for making this video we just got one of these and were unsure of how to actually hooked up. Google searches for pictures were only bringing up newer scoops. Ours will definitely need to be cleaned up some as it has been sitting awhile and some of the metal seems seized up
That’s great. Hope you get it back up and running. Always good to hear when a video helped. I’ve been in your shoes a few times, thinking “dang I wish someone made a video showing…”
I don’t know if you are hooking up to an 8N or not, but I’ve have quite a few other tractor videos showing attachments.
I am 76 and have been doing this type of garden my whole life. I mix in a lot of flowers and some ancient grains and herbs. Really anything goes. I also do survival gardens which are basic but controlled for easier harvesting.-- Cheers
This really is such a great way to garden. Yes these flowers can add such beauty as well.
I saw your post on one of the Facebook groups. Thought Id come over and check it out.. Love my Fords! Currently have 3 along with multiple others I've restored. Subbed. Hope to see more in the future!
That’s so awesome. These tractor are a bunch of fun. Thanks for checking out the channel. I’ve tried to make some cool 8n videos.
😅 my wife hates hearing about my 9n too. She calls it my mistress. 😂
Haha, I can see how that can happen.
I don’t understand why there’s so much interest in ford tractors. There’s been tons of great technical development since the first ford tractors. There’s no way I would give up my kubota 46 60 grand with loader and cab for a brand new ford 8N.
I think there are many factors at play here. Many of the technologies we have today came directly from the 8n 9n 2n tractors originally. There is also the money factor. A person could buy about 20 8n's for the cost of a new Kubota. I am usually a new is always better type person, but I do really dig the old models and history.
Nice job. It looks like fun.
Thank you! It was a great summer.
I really appreciate people like you who care about and take notice to the best selling tractor. I myself have 2 ford 8N’s and use them both for different jobs. Great video!!
Awesome! Thank you, and yes these are the best tractors.
I also have two 1952 Ford 8N's - the Serial numbers are about a thousand apart - I would like to hear their life story's. ( I think )
Life stories of these old tractors would be pretty cool. I believe mine has had many parts replaced over the years. It would be cool to know why.
Nothin like a david brown, the 950 is a hell of a tractor
Totally agree, and a real fine looking one too.
My 1025r will out work it easily
Those sound like fighting words, haha. That's a cool little tractor, but a little more costly than a 8N.
@@LohreFarm we had a 9 n when I was a kid. Engine burnt so much oil you'd fill the oil and check the gas
@OO-by2jl Haha That’s a pretty funny line. I might use that.
I have a Ford 706 reversible scoop, you can see it on my 2N in this video: ruclips.net/video/L6z8X0mO_hM/видео.htmlsi=Hwx9zsLZMUlpZP9r The Ford N-Series tractors started with the 9N in 1939, then came the 2N in 1942. A lot of people confused the 2N with the 9N since both are almost identical and have serial numbers starting with "9N". The 8N came out in 1947 and had a lot of improvements over the 2N, 4 speed transmission, position control, etc. The Golden Jubilee came out in 1953 and added even more upgrades, larger OHV engine, live hydraulics, optionable live PTO, etc. You can trace the N-series up to 1964 with the 2000 and 4000 tractors that came out in 1962.
That's an awesome scoop. Tractor seems to be running real nice there. I only paid $20 for the scoop I modified, so I didn't mind attempting my experiment. Thanks for sharing the video, and knowledge.
Hey thanks for showing me. I have a 1949 8n. Just got it 4 months ago.
That’s so awesome. Enjoy every second of the learning!!
I L O V E THE ROOSTER
Haha, yes. Lots of rooster noises in this video.
@@LohreFarm I LOVE HEARING THEM!!
The exact same thing happened to me last night in that exact same spot with the antifreeze pouring out. I plugged it back up and headed to the you tubes!
That sucks!. Not a real fun deal. Mine seems to be much better after the "fix". But I think I may have learned a bit more during the repair that I plan to improve on at some point. Good luck!
The 1950+ with side mount distributor is probably relatively better, IMHO. I have a 51 and a 48. Your assessment of the $1,400 old=$18,000 new is accurate, but remember, there is no tax on $1,000 used, and parts are probably more available for the 70 year old stuff and definitely cheaper. Try rebuilding a Yanmar engine for the same price.
Yes, the availability of parts alone is huge. There really hasn't been a part I couldn't find, and at a reasonable price too. Great comment!
I have 2, and my brother has 2, his are a 860, and a 871. Mine is a 631, and an Allis D17D. Everything the Fords need is available from Ford and or aftermarket. The 8n just doesn’t have the power for what we need to do, and my Allis has parts issues. The flat rate manual gives twice as many hours to rebuild the engine as my 6 cylinder diesel, so there are sone trade offs. Have fun
