I love the epic music while they're putting the scaffolding up under the threat of wasps. Max really knows how to set the tone.
Glad you liked it dude, had fun with that one. Jeff vs. the bees is a feud of legend
I love the rock'n roll music to the video as well as the slow motion and the narrator's voice at the beginning of the episode.
I love that you cover almost every aspect of residential construction and renovation... both channels offer a wealth of knowledge gotta love it!
Glad you enjoy it Luca lots more coming
Can’t believe we get this stuff for free! You’re the man, Jeff.
Indeed, Jeff is Da Man! We are truly blessed to get all this for free.
not free! It costs blood sweat and tears. Cheers!
@@REALITYRENOVISION Yeah that's true. Cheers Jeff!
those roofers got that thing down to a science dont they. efficiency at its finest.
It’s amazing what you guys accomplish and share with everyone. Thanks so much.
Yes sir just because you have a small crew doesnt mean you can't make it happen.
From now on "Hey shovel!" will be my cheesy quote to annoy my significant other while we work outside! More seriously, thanks again for the great content!
Haha glad you liked that always cracked me up too
Can't wait to see the final result of this house. Keep up the good work.
You'll have to keep watching, I promise you will see it. New episodes every 2 weeks to follow the journey.
Solid Snake does the intro.. amazing
Haha nice reference very true
The 3 Stooges meet DIY, Just kidding! It's actually Real Life. I don't think I would have the same patience as this father with his son. I wouldn't expect anything less and it's why I watch because it's not perfect. Good job!
Ha! Great epic music (with the scaffolding)!
One of my favorite channels and always learn something new
Glad you enjoy it Dave. New episode this thursday at 5pm EST. New eps every 2 weeks
Did the they check the sheeting? After seeing all the other surprises, I would think it would need new sheeting put down. Glad to see they used ropes on those steep slopes. Yours is a lot steeper than ours. Our roofer put down tarps and sheeting protect our plants. I found none one piece of shingle debri when they left. He also replaced and painted all the vents. Glad you are not killing yourselves trying to do everything yourself. Love your videos!!
A roof that old is tongue and groove that's at least 5/8" thick. No plywood of any kind can compete
I used to work with scaffolding and we would raise it with a rope. We would put a loop on one end, the ground guy would feed it under the top bar, around the center bar and loop it over the end.
Thats a good tip thanks for sharing
Really upping the production values!
Glad you liked it Nate. Keep watching we are only doing more and more of that.
Awesome production!!! I laughed at a lot of moments and was on edge for some. Aside from learning, the show is entertaining. I love it!
Glad you enjoyed it Brandy, we enjoy bringing the episodes to you guys. Trust me you'll wanna hang around for the ride it gets pretty wild
I would love to see you do a mobile home... unfortunately by the time you do I'll be done with mine and have to redo everything when I see how beautiful you make everything
Love you guys thank you.
Loved the glam metal kind of sound track to this episode! Great work Maxx!
Thanks dude glad you enjoyed it! Had a little fun with this one
This was a awesome video.....as I see it before, the recap and the music just great!
Glad you liked it brother. New episode this Thursday at 5pm EST
Great content, you're such a joy to listen and watch Jeff.
Will you be doing an episode on landscape design and execution, including the fences, how to select where to put what(seating, garden, patio, etc..).
Big fan of both channels!!
Marat you'll have subscribe because everything you mentioned is coming up. New episodes every two weeks that cover the work done and the story behind it.
Could you try to do some videos on a modular/manufactured home? Especially one on a full basement. If you search there are almost none!
COOL
Jeff, Matt & Nate! 😍
Always a riot having the 3 of them working
22:24 I love the montage music! XD
Grew up watching Rocky videos had to get some of these badboys in there. Keep watching for new episodes you'll see many more!
Please do the mobile home. Live in basically a double wide on a foundation and I have been remolding it. It was built in 1997 and has not been touched as far as updates sense it was new. These homes are a lot different that a stick frame house.
We have been discussing this idea for years and trust me we want to do it. IT just has not been the right time for us in terms of production. But keep watching and who knows maybe we will get to it
I'm with ya I hate roofs anymore done quiet a few but my wife would always get bad she pays for a tan while I get paid to tan lol
great video...
Glad you liked it!
I always knew roofing was a dangerous job, but never realized how dangerous until watching this!
It's really not a DIY for the majority of the population. And certainly not with that roof slope.
Good job👍👍👍I have a 1892 house and I wish you were here to give me advice
He can do that on the other channel Home Renovision. He has a membership program you can join to ask questions
Whoever hits the thumbs down button on this man's content obviously has a heart full of envy and Jealousy. The information he is sharing is invaluable. HGTV needs to stop playing and give this man a call asap.
Thank you walter !
Reality of the trades
And it only gets more intense as the project goes along.
@@SubdivisionAuto Yup it can only get harder.
Which house can’t be saved?🤔
@3:25 I thought he was hitting his leg lol
My sinuses began to play from just watching you remove the siding lol
The amount of bugs behind that siding was insane. If you watch some of the earlier episodes from the farmhouse (the siding episode) you can see what's truly behind there. I swear one spark behind there and that thing would go up like gasoline. The house was essentially a giant tinder bundle with all the bugs and nests.
👍
Thanks for stopping in Devon! Hope your well congrates on hitting 300k subs!
How did you handle the air flow issues? Did they put a ridge vent in?
Matt is a champ lol
For sure
Hello Matt.
Hey Jeff- Craig from England - In the process of buying a 1800 farm cottage in south of england Devon actually. I have just assimilated all my dads tools boy did he have a lot, so think I've got most of what I need to tackle a lot of DIY projects. Been watching your videos for sometime now and loving them especially the old farm house ones. Was just curious about how you vetted your decision to buy or not. The house we are looking to purchase has huge potential, however the main roof according to a roofing guy is past its end of life date. I'm not convinced, and will be seeking a second opinion before committing. Having not inspected the loft space myself, was wondering if you had any tips on what to lookout for signs that the structure is in peril and needs replacing/lamenating or other
The first point i feel like it's the most important, KNOW YOUR LIMITS. Work smarter not harder bud! Keep up the great content!
True. And as a small crew you really have to plan things out and manage your resources (money and manpower) to make it happen. You'll see watching the rest of the season how every second counts by the end of the season
OSHA!!
OSHA doesn't exist in Canada.
When will you be able to finish the siding?
So what happened with the decision to use metal roofing over the loft area? What about the rafter ventilation?
40:40 - That's all Folks!
Awesome Video. Kinda disappointed to see vinyl siding on that old house though. But still awesome.
Yeah but it had vinyl on it already for many decades. It's a pretty cost effective method so it makes sense and it looks good from the street. Not to mention return on investment is up there.
It's better than stucco. Every old house around here is pelted with that crap.
Canada: I don't want to spend my time going to the hospital
US: I don't want to spend my money going to the hospital
Can't believe you removed that siding with out eye protection or face mask. Imagine what you were breathing in.
bug wings!
builds your immune system
Safety third
Won't the dirt wash into the drainage pipe?
A bit too much "Reality TV" for my taste, but if that is what sells go for it, you don't have to please everyone. I will watch for those short insightful videos I can learn something from.
“Reality” Renovision.... watch his other channel if you want to see the barebones of how to do different projects.
@@joshua47085 That's right Josh. Having the stripped down how to videos on the Home Renovision channel is always an option. This one really dives into the journey and the story that came along with it. We also use a lot of footage that doesnt make it into the how to's in this show...
They aren't bees.... they are wasps. Bees don't normally bother people.
That scaffolding does NOT look safe. Wouldn’t get me up there. Lol. Lol. Don’t fall
Scoffolding is never really safe its just the way it is. But it is sure as hell safter than a ladder.
Genuine question - why would you use that type of roofing knowing that it won't last? I'm in Australia and we use powder coated steel or clay tiles. We get 60 - 70 years from the steel, 90 - 100 from the clay. There's no way we would consider something with a 20 year lifespan
My thoughts are 1) because asphalt shingles are cheaper and 2) some roofs, especially an old one like this, may not be able to support the load of clay. I may be wrong🤷🏽♂️
USA is a big country. A lot of homes here see dozens of freeze / thaw cycles a year and I can say the clay tiles would be a poor option. In the permanently hot places like Arizona, sure, they use clay shingles. But where I live, clay shingles would actually damage faster than the composite ones. If you travel to a tropical climate in the U.S. like Florida, almost all houses have metal roofs - usually coated steel like you mentioned. So the real answer is... it depends where you live.
The house is going for sale. but despite that the architectural shingle has come a long way and will last longer than it used to. He actually installed a really high quality product on that house.
Off the end please not the middle 15:55... the patience of a saint!
Always entertaining to watch
Would love to come out and help. Unfortunately I only have 4 days off in a row and need to renovate my house. I tell you what. Come to Florida and help me and I'll fly out and help you. It's a win win.
When did you film this. Last year?
This was 2020 yes.
I don't think I've ever seen a roofing crew made up of all white guys.
Where I am, just about every roofer is latino.
Mexican bro, Latino is not a word to describe a person. Latino means the name of a language, aka LATIN dialect.
@@tomsaywer9883 no one cares
@@tomsaywer9883 Whatever. Latino to me means their primary language is Spanish. That means central and South American. I'm not discerning where the hell their home county is.
I'm also not inferring it to be an insult. FFS.
@@Demian1970 No dude, your comment wasn’t offensive, just pointing out Latino was a language, it’s all good. But I know what u mean tho, I’m a Mexican roofer by trade. 😉
Oh no, I hope Matt's pretty little face is okay 😟
Chicks dig scars! lol
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY 😆👍
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY "I got this one back in 'Nam, man!"
So much for DIY. Hired some roofers. JK, a pro roof is non negotiable and that pitch seems too dangerous for a DIY!
The camera really doesnt do that roof justice. Not only is the pitch extreme but the shingles were disintegrating under their feet. Yes sir something you gotta call in the big guns
Funny retaining wall diy warched neighbor in alaska build retsing walls put plants in moose came immediately and ate all the plants
Is it just me his house was placed not parallel to street
actually the house came before the road. the road was not built parallels to the house. Cheers!
Rr
Even with saying you’re installing that scaffolding wrong you’re still going to get so much criticism.
Great video but American houses amaze me how they still stand after 100 years is nothing brick built across the pond
44:24 was that a structural tabacco advertisement?
hardboard sign from the turn of the 19th century!
Never trust a man with no shirt on!
Randy Bobandy
Scary and poor safety to put your foot in a simple running shoe right beside the high powered saw. Tsk Tsk.
Jeff, please don’t encourage people to use their common sense:D
What is common sense to you, not for others.
Don't want to be a roofer
That was kind of what we wanted to prove with this video. it takes a certain person to do this job. Not to mention the heat up there is insane, my first job ever was roofing and it was hitting 50 degress celcius. Never again
