Plaster & lathe, knob and tube. Oh the memories! Great work. The end result will be worth the work
I was surprised at how strong the plaster is and how it helps insulation of the house. It also provides good noise reduction. However we wanted updated wiring.
I am really enjoying watching these videos. I can’t wait to see how it looks when you are done.
Renovating an old house, a person learns so much. For example, using the diamond pier footings was an economical and saved a lot of time. Thanks for sharing.
By removing the lath the structure of the house is now weaker 😢
That is true. However, we used spray foam insulation which offset removal of the lath and plaster. Here is the spray foam insulation video

That's not even close to being true. Lath is not structural. If at all, you're talking .000001% difference.
I really wish people would learn terminology, pronunciation and technique before posting how-to videos.
Pronouncing it like the tool "lathe" destroys your credibility. Plus the demo shown in the video of just busting it all up and breaking it with a hammer is not how you most efficiently prep for drywall. The lath nails need to come with the board or you add another process to prep. Take the time to deconstruct... you'll be much better off.
were you not concerned about asbestos/lead?
We tested for lead paint and wore P100 masks.
It’s not Laythe! It’s pronounced lath! Rhymes with bath.
Thanks for sharing about this Lath and plaster wall removal video. It was fun to make.
Lathe and stids??
It is heavy working removing lath and Plaster down to the studs but worth it.
