Love the Griddler as I have owned it for about a year now. Just a quick comment on cooking with it. It's easier and quicker to cook your meats (and recommended in the manual) with the top closed. Chicken usually takes only about 7 to 8 minutes in the closed position. While your chicken is cooling (meats are recommended to cool 10 minutes after removing) you can open it up completely and cook all your veggies at once and have them done and ready right about the time your chicken (or whatever your meat) is ready to serve. Thanks for the great review.
bestkitchenreviews Nice Just got mine on sale for 70$ have not used it yet will do when i move in to my apartment - cleaning seems to be easy. what is the griddle option for . Will Post a review here once i use it.
Just to get it said, minimum resting time for meat is always going to be half the time it took to cook the meat, reason is that the juices will be evenly spread out through the meat the resting time, i prefer to let it rest the same amount of time you cooked it. I learned this as a chef apprentice.
Thomas Charter thank u for this comment. I didn’t read the manual but had this question as I am about to grill chicken in this one for the first time. .
great video.... but can I ask a question? where does the oil drip into the drip tray? I planning on buying a panini maker and would like to get this one and make burgers but wondering where the fat gonna drip into the drip tray
There is a few design flaws with this device. If you plan on using this like a George Foreman grill, grease will drip off the top plate onto your counter when you open it. There needs to be some kind of ledge on the back of the bottom to direct the grease into the drip pan. If you only use the device as an open grill, griddle, or panini press this isn't a problem. The second problem is there is no adjustment to stop the panini press from smashing your sandwiches flat. If you look at other panini presses there is a slider or knob that stops the press at different heights.
I bought one of these 3 years ago and forgot about it. I just now cooked my first burger and it might be best burger I ever made. Usually a just put a burger on the gas grill until its hell cooked. This burger was well cooked yet still juicy and uncharred.
Oh boy I wish I bought this one instead of the gr-11 which doesn't have a flat plate on the other side of the plates.. I'm grilling my pancakes and they look like ruffles potato chips
Aphex217Twin Definitely not a dumb question :-) The grill is good for meat and anything juicy - it lets the juice/fat drip down. Of course grill marks are attractive! Please subscribe if you haven't already :-)
I have this unit, I have used it very little over the years. But when I did want to use it the control knobs (Both) were failing. Would not heat, do not throw this unit away if you are handy and understand high voltage. Be certain it is unplugged from power. Remove the lower plate (4) screws you will find a set of electrical contact points for each control that will tarnish over time, light sanding and you will be back in business. The unit was designed well but the control contact points were not thought out. Be careful and enjoy this unit for a long time to come.
Mine is brand new, used it first time tonight for hamburgers. Didn't work for...@#%$. Preheat the manual says, but doesn't say how. Switch to Sear it says, but nothing else. So I figured, selector to Grill, temperature? and Sear. The red indicator was on, then went off, never saw a green. 20 minutes later, it was like I just took them out, nothing happened. So here I am to find out how to use this thing.
I have one and it seems like that when on griddle side both plates are not heated equally. Is it as pose to be like that? Or is something wrong? The grill sides do seem to heat evenlly to me. It's just the plates when they are on the griddle side that seem to be off
robert Butcher Hi Robert, both plates should be hot. Try contacting Cuisinart customer service to help resolve the issue - www.cuisinart.com/support/contact.html Hope that helps :-)

Yes, the meat cooks faster with the top closed. I left it open for demonstration purposes! Glad you enjoyed the review :-)

do you need to put oil on the plates or anything like that to cook the food?
please can you do a review on the Cuisinart GR-WAFP Griddler Waffle Plates that go on this griddler.please! thanks!
asoweme review. I just bought this product and was wondering if youre supposed to spray any type of oil for your food to cook well?
Thanks! You don't have to spray anything on the surface before cooking. It is non-stick. :)
thanks girl. I had one of these in, and didn't know how to use it, until I saw this vedio

Hi. Do the grill and griddle sides heat up to set temps when fully open? Was reading some places that it doesn't heat as well as it should.
Love it but have trouble with the grease trap collecting grease while cooking
Wonderful review. You've just convinced me to buy it! And I've subscribed to your channel. Keep up the excellent work! xo

Can you tell what temp, you put it on. Show the setting?
Anita, your hubby & kiddo are so lucky, having you cooking for them. You've made me hank marvin again LOL :P :D
this is probably a dumb question, but what is the point of using the grill over the griddle? Is it just to get the grill marks and that's it?

I'm sold!! Need one "yesterday!"
😀
Thanks. Might get one, reviews are decent, but the video was useful to see how it works beforehand.
+Valamyr Hi, Glad you found the video useful. Please subscribe if you haven't already :)
