Cuisinart needs to hire you to write their product manuals! The enclosed instructions are horribly confusing.. they never really tell you how the left knob is different than the right knob.. thank you for your straight forward explanation! You Rock!
After watching several other reviews of this product, I found yours to be the most comprehensive, explaining the challenges and potential flaws of it, and your ulitmate verdict that you really like the product. As a result, I've decided to buy - found a good deal and using your affiliate link, Happy Holidays!
Actually, both upper and lower plates work at the same time -- and they also work at the same selected temperature. To be clear, the upper plate does not work independent of the lower plate -- regardless of which mode is selected, (griddle or grill), or weather or not the plates are laid flat or not.
This is my second one. We have it outside the garage door exposed to the elements yearound ruclips.net/user/postUgkxreK_FUQ74_bylFqCr3y2MHqL3u78-b3r Direct sunlight deteriorated the plastic on the thermostat and severe winds blew the lid off. We found it about an acre away. I bought a new one and I saved the good parts from the old one as spares. Got about 8 years out of the first one.
Every bachelor (speaking from my own experience, can't speak for batchelorette's) should have one of these. (I have been saying that since 2010) I have had mine for years and it has been great for cooking fish, pork, chicken without a big mess. Get one for your son or nephew.
I found mine at Goodwill. Brand new in the box and only $10!!! I love it sooo much. The one & only thing I don't like is when making burgers that have a lot of grease, when I lift the lid, the top part drips all over the counter at the hinge. I wish I could figure out how to alleviate that issue.
Mine has a mind of its own, and it's extremely creative. Mine cooks when it wants to, almost never when I want it to. I sometimes try to trick it, but it's clearly trickier than I. Left and Right knobs have absolutely nothing to do with trying to cook; they strictly for fun. It does have one nice feature not found on many grills - I think it's called Cremation or Incinerate. While it's not clearly labeled, you will discover it after turning the center knob to the "Off" position.
The middle knob turns to the left (Griddle) or the right (Grill + Panni). When you turn the middle knob to the left, and then adjust/turn the left knob it will only heat up the bottom plate. When the middle knob is turned to the right, and you adjust/turn the right knob it will heat up both the top and bottom plates. Notice: The knob on the right says 'Grill + Panni', therefore both the upper and lower plates heat up, and the knob on the left says "Griddle', thus the left knob only controls the heat for the lower plate.
I do not understand the controls. When I put the middle selector switch on "Griddle" both surfaces get hot. When I put the selector switch on "Grill-Panni" both surfaces get hot. So what is the difference in which way you have the middle selector switch?
I must have a very early model of this. Mine doesn’t have a flat griddle under the corrugated griddle, and it also has no catch basin. I rarely use it because of these weird aspects of it
Does this model come with waffle pan? One of my friend said she got this with waffle pan as well but I've never seen this griddler with waffle pan anywhere.
Bought mine second hand had no instructions and for the life of me could not figure out how to get the darn drip tray in a really oh duhhh moment lol ...so thank you for showing that
I found one of these at St Vincent DePaul for $15 in pretty decent shape & Cuisinart is a pretty reliable, good brand so I figures I give it a try. Looking forward to making some veggie paninis and grilled cheeses etc
I bought mine for $ 7 buck at Goodwill and it a very terrible griddles ! It doesn't get hot enough for any serious cooking so I turn mine into an electric grill ! Cut through bottom flooring for dripping . Totally remove the griddle plate . Place whole griddler inside drip pan . Work perfect now ! 😂😂😂😂
I did not care for this appliance at all it is just an overpriced griddle did not get hot enough dont have all day to cook something to eat going back to walmart.

Do you know why when I choose the bottom plate only that both plates still get hot? Wondering if it's just mine or if it's yours also

Yes indeed it is, Chris, especially the instructions in the manual part!

7.99 looks unused and has the waffle plates too.
I bought one from Canadian Tire that also has a hinge issue, and so I'm very glad you explained this in the video.
Finally, thank you for explaining the knobs. I've been wondering for years.
Clearly and thoroughly explained. Good job!
Thanks! I never understand those instructional manuals come with the products. You explained it really well.
Perfect review, straight to the point, calm voice. Thank you!
When I see a "regular" persons kitchen in the BG, I feel at ease. This Lady is classy and smart. Thank you Sky, for the review.

when used as a grill , the
upper plate/lid could
disengage slightly to
cover the food more
evenly ....👍
This was a great review. I was very confused about the temp controls on the right and left also and your video helped a lot. Thanks!

~Thax for info on controlls...wasn't sure with the directions.
Is that a Zojirushi rice cooker behind at 4:19? I got a similar model.
That's how to do a review! Great video thanks.

Making turkey burgers and hamburgers tonight on this bad boy, thank you for this well made video!
Does it make 🥓 well?
I found a Breville grill at Goodwill today for $6. Worth$125
I must have a very early model of this. Mine doesn’t have a flat griddle under the corrugated griddle, and it also has no catch basin. I rarely use it because of these weird aspects of it
Thank you for the review. Now I know where the drip tray is ;)
Had mine for years. Id love to clean a bit the stainless top. It seems some grease cooked (maybe the fumes from the cooking did that). Any tips ?
Bar Keepers Friend
Does the top surface heats up ? By Top surface I mean the silver top surface with brandname on it.
Awesome review/how-to! Thank you so much!!

Great video! I found one at a thrift store so this was very informative since I don’t have instructions! Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Same!
One question. Do you recommend it.
Bought mine second hand had no instructions and for the life of me could not figure out how to get the darn drip tray in a really oh duhhh moment lol ...so thank you for showing that
Very good video I’ve had my griddler for years
How hot plates get? some reviews say that plates don't get hot enough even at the max setting.
Although the max temp claims to be 425 F. It actually operates below 400 F. It is a piece of shit.

Thanks for your great review. it helped me decide to buy. you speak a little to fast for me but it helped.
somewhat dissapointed in overall build quality: turned a knob and surprised it didnt snap of. bit flimsy construction.
You have exactly the same kitchen table as my mother. How funny! Small world.
Thank you. Very thorough review.
Where do you get the handles from?

Did you eat the raw bacon? Yikes!
firstly it's not bacon. Secondly it's cooked (hence the brown color).
I really hope you weren't planning on eating that...
I did not care for this appliance at all it is just an overpriced griddle did not get hot enough dont have all day to cook something to eat going back to walmart.
