- NBA 2K22 reviewed on PlayStation 5 by Ricky Frech. Narration by Akeem Lawanson. Also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
NBA 2K22 makes some welcome changes to its on-court action. The new stamina system is a game-changer, leading to the series' best offensive flow in years. Defensively, the tweaks to blocks and shot contests make the paint a dangerous place to be. However, the technical issues and questionable choices and overuse of microtransactions in several of the modes keep it from being a real contender. There's a high-quality basketball sim here, but it makes more unforced errors than you'd expect for a series that's been iterating for so long.

To be honest IGN sports section has to be the best part of the company. Forza Horizon 3 is one of the best reviews ever.
If you disappoint them long enough, you can give them something average and they will love it logic. Seems to work for most sports games.

@@mvick4198 how? No other sports game comes close in terms of graphics, animations, modes, attention to detail (playcalls) etc. If people actually played the game the way the sport is supposed to be played, there wouldn’t be as much negativity to it.
As long as they give us the same Commentating Team every year, this will always be 2K17 for me lol
If you play on the highest difficulty setting, there’s a steep learning curve to the shooting mechanic. You probably have to put in around 60-70 hours to learn different shooting styles because every player has their own shot and release.
This script sounds like 2k wrote it.

It costs over $100 worth of VC to get a MyPlayer to an 85 overall. The micro transactions get worse every year and it’s not being talked about like other games.

as an avid 2k player every year, it’s the same game, just some years it upgrades from the year before and sometimes it downgrades… this IS AN UPGRADE from 2k21 in every facet so far. Playmaking shot creator/ Glass cleaner on ps4.

Took a few years off 2K, the MyCareer was ruined when they added more and more cutscenes off the court, it was just getting too far away from the game. First season was taking so long you because of the back and forth of cut scenes and trying to level your guy up in the park.
21 barely had any cutscenes and that made it boring

the shot blocking needs balanced desperately. Also every corner and wing 3 you take you end up jumping in to the stands for no reason

It’s crazy how a step in the direction warrants a 7… Shouldn’t games be at their best and not a work in progress year after year for $70 each year???? All of this seems could have easily been done 5 years ago. It doesn’t even look next gen. Besides that, 2k is money grabbing. That’s their business model. @@gamerd8709 You obviously don't own the game & this is probably a generic response you have saved for every year. Gameplay animations are definitely different. Graphics are better. And just like the original comment mentioned, they have each team's real PA announcer in the game. Crowd noises are very accurate to each team. As a Milwaukee native & Bucks fan, they really have the crowd down to a tee. The pregame introductions are exactly like it would be at a real game, lights dim, fans turn their phone flashlights on, they chant Bucks in 6, etc.
Never heard a reviewer say the devs name this often, “visual concepts does this & that & this”

Throw back teams should have their own tier online and not be tied into current nba teams.
Typical for 2K to once again release a game that is not finished but provide the best support for reviewers. If you're reading this either buy this game on sale or ditch the franchise altogether, trust me its not worth your money and time.
