This is very powerful. I felt like you were explaining what was going on in my mind. It gives me a lot to think about with my food addiction and weight loss journey. Keep up the good work 💪
I think like with alcohol addiction it is most important to realize and acknowledge you have an issue and that something needs to be done. The next and maybe even harder realisation is that there is a good chance that this will be more or less an issue for the rest for your life. This is why it is so important to not just do a temporary (crash) diet. What for me helped is getting a hobby in sports and set goals in them. So your weight loss and food control is part of my journey to these goals. For me this makes it easier. It is not a constant issue for me but i have periods that will make me be able to eat without control. No idea why. But i was lucky we already had a healthy diet. So most of it was a matter of cutting out the bad habbits and getting into sports. I am at a desired weight for about 4-5 months now. But i guess the hard part will be staying there over a long period of time.
Mark, the protein powder, not being a “real food” and unbalanced macronutrient-wise could cause a cascade of seeking to “rebalance” what’s lost… the carbs. I find concentrated protein makes one seek the missing carbs in the form of simple sugar. I’ve found sticking to Whole Foods ( as only choice in the house) cancels out any potential “rebalancing binges” ahead of time.

Hi Mark, As an addiction specialist you nailed it, if you ever get bored a degree in addictions has your name on it.
I actually wish this had video!
Love the plane analogy. I needed to hear this, thank you!
