Always imitated. Never duplicated. I applaud you, Vetements for always taking risks. So many people out there copy and steal your designs, but I always know you were the first to do it.
A lot was margiela ideas but blown into cartoonish styling. Please look up margiela before you say it's original. Not meant as an attack at all. But demna was incredibly inspired by margiela. He's definitely original in the zeitgeist conversation but he's not the first
If you look into the collection it's intending to be anti-systematic for the average viewer it might be aesthetically unpleasing but it's very successful conceptually. Notice the one jacket with the international organization emblem then the other one that read "genetically modified" Even their price point is a statement, vetements is a social experiment
@@beowulf4808 i think the higher prices make the irony more clear. High prices are a trend in pretty much every designer brand and vetements is just a mockery of high end fashion, whilst being high end at the same. I love vetements and wish prices would be lower but i think the higher prices make sense by not making sense
I agree that this collection does change the game in the fashion industry, but not in a revolutionary way. More like a bloody reality check. Kinda feels like a mockery to society both style and consumer wise. The concept was stereotypes and each one (although I couldn't identify all) was like a half ass thought of what the stereotype would wear. NGL I loved some pieces of this collection but if I want to buy Clothes (literally VETEMENTS) the prices of these looks are gonna make me roll hella hard if I see someone wearing it. So applaud VETEMENTS for making statements by making "just clothes"
Jay Agpaoa If that sums up Vetements as a brand ethos, they have time to improve. All the stereotypes they use are native to Eastern Europe, and are probably more thought-out than you realize. So I'm not sure I agree completely. You even said yourself, you can't identify half the stereotypes. That just goes to show how niche some they are.
This designer could cover a T shirt in his own jizz and sell it for £1000. next day you see a Chinese hype beast wearing it with his gucci loafers and silk leggings. ''Yes the stains are very revolutionary, as you can see the designer put a lot of love into this T-shirt [literally]''
When these looks first surfaced, I was left with a big question. Why? But seeing them go down this peculiar runway, I can see that Demna is trying to channel casual looks but with a vetements twist. Now I'm left wondering what's next?
I read somewhere that he's saying that everyone in your normal life can wear vetements. But you do make a good point cause some of these looks were too whack to have a deep meaning.
The only things that I find a bit weird is that Demna has chosen models with ''casual'' style and average faces bodies etc... This would translate better if the prices were actually affordable or at least below £500 I'd say... I mean yeah I've read that it costs a lot to make but I still think the price is like 90% profit... If he's reaching out to the ''average'' person via his show and wants to break down stereotypes then surely something's wrong. If your line is so unaffordable, hey why not have Bill Gates and Kanye West modelling for you then eh?
I just read in an interview that he asks his friends to model for him. Maybe thats the reason they look "average". I totally agree with you though, these prices are insane! I'd love to own something from vetements but I'm broke lol
Loving the collection. New creative ideas and standout garments. Especially loved the different magnitudes of various attitudes shown off here, playing off yet even more stereotypes and idiosyncratic garments commonly associated with a particular entity ( the soldier, the punk, the goth, the office worker, metalhead, athlete, wealthy elderly boomer, the working class poverty figure, and so on...) and contorting the aesthetic representation to great exaggerating lengths. Excellent work, Demna & Co.!
How to become vetements? add an extra 0 to all the prices $200 Alpha industries bomber becomes $2000 Alpha x Vetements collab lol and the jacket is exactly the same
@@nouseforaname9851 hey, you know the dialogue vetements used to have as An active discourse about the excess of western consumption of styles and trends in a po faced, on the nose manner? I'm so bored. I get the inspiration and the idea is cute but it's all so literal with absolutely no fantasy. I know Vetements is supposed to be anti-fashion but if you're trying to change anything a little effort is necessary.
or this type of fashion doesn't fit your fashion preference. This is why you don't let Forever 21 Customer judge a Vetements clothing. Oh yeah its called deconstructed fashion.
is took me awhile to realize that the video was split into two
same here
I was mindblown
Lmfao I swear me to!!!
You need two bukkakes: right bukkake and left bukkake.

Great comment.
thank you I really appreciate that. Vetements isgreat and I'm excited to see what else demna is capable of, I think he's just scratching the surface.
But wouldn't it be more antisystemetic to have lower prices them the normal fashion houses instead of higher
@@beowulf4808 I mean if it were cheaper sadly I don't people would be as interested and also the materials would less luxurious if that were the case.

this is why i love Vetements. Its just a big middle finger to the prestigious fashion industry.
Exactly.
It doesn't get cooler than this. Demna is changing the game.
Revolutionary shit.
l o l
Vetements is not revolutionary, this has all been done before

dude lmao you're overthinking it soooo much this dude and vetements is trolling the fuck out of literally everyone
SB | Nathaniel he literally confirmed it in an interview online that he is the ultimate troll in fashion
Which interview? Can you link?
I read somewhere that he's saying that everyone in your normal life can wear vetements. But you do make a good point cause some of these looks were too whack to have a deep meaning.
Denma says a lot of shit, he's quite a chatterbox fearsant
perhaps the edgiest thing here is the fact that demna would have these models commit the ultimate crime... standing on an escalator
and how is that a crime
you're supposed to walk on an escalator so that it 'escalates' your walking speed
In love. That wedding gown was the couture piece of the week. Long live Demna!
you are blind

Zoe Tsolaki that’s exactly what I was thinking, these pieces are so expensive
I just read in an interview that he asks his friends to model for him. Maybe thats the reason they look "average". I totally agree with you though, these prices are insane! I'd love to own something from vetements but I'm broke lol
Fast forward 7 years into the future now and it’s interesting to see what has now changed and become

The scalator runway idea was on my mind before I saw this

Gon!!!
LOVE
such a piss take lmao luv it
no artistic direction, poorly cut garments, no artistry, not a single stand out piece. all hype.
having a standout piece would be a little bold if you make a collection about stereotypes.. unless you are a punk. or. or. or.
or this type of fashion doesn't fit your fashion preference. This is why you don't let Forever 21 Customer judge a Vetements clothing. Oh yeah its called deconstructed fashion.
How to spend thousands of dollars to look homeless
I hate Vetements from the bottom of my heart
I can’t take them seriously, if I was there I’d just piss myself laughing.
I cant takie YOU seriously tw*t. If i was there i’d just piss myself laughing at u bit*h xD
