I'm officially 2 years dye-free and done my grey hair transition. I reflect on how I feel now and what I've learned since deciding to grow out my natural hair.
I spend most of my entire life worrying about what people thought until I realized that most people couldn't care less. I wouldn't wear a swimsuit because of my belly. I had to have my hair styled at all times. I'm now in my fifties. Maybe in my 20's and 30's it meant more to me to look 'good', but now I partake in activities regardless of my poochy tummy, even if my hair will fizz up in water. So at 52 I went to the stylist and dyed my hair blue. Didn't give anyone a heads up before. Showed up to work with bright blue hair... No one said a word.
You look amazing! I looooove to see you back with an update, I was hoping you would. I am dye free for nearly one year now and your videos helped to make the decision. Thank you. 😍🤩
You look beautiful! Thanks so much for your videos. After about a year of subconsciously wavering about this, I accidentally stumbled on videos of gorgeous grey haired women last night and I’m so inspired. I’m 52 years old and the time feels right. Thanks so much for sharing your journey ❤
You look so good, I am screaming behind my screen 💕 I am 32 and not planning to dye my hair at all ~. I needed some people that could also encourage me in my path and i have loved watching your videos! Keep it up!
I am a year into growing out my gray at age 56. My hair is long. I had my hair stylist bleached out my colored hair. I still have quite a bit of the bleached blond hair. I love the freedom that I have now! So it is you are on the fence! 😃
I love it! What a beautiful color🥰✨ I started my natural gray-hair journey in September this year and I’m really looking forward to the end result🤩 I’ve fallen in love with the gray long hair look🙌
I'm 27 and started transitioning 3 months ago. I was blessed with earlier graying in my teens (genetics) ihave the prettiest white patches above my ears! The top of my head has a demarcation line . I am excited about my natural highlights 🤗
Thank you so much for doing this series. I’m 48 and have for whatever reason held on to my youth, but hearing you embrace it makes me excited to grow it out.
So great to see you! Happy anniversary! Your natural hair looks terrific. Look at that dimension! Thank you for encouraging me on my journey. I’m about 6 months behind you. Thanks for the update.
I made this transition just before age 51. It is liberating but it takes a lot of patience. You look great. My hair is much lighter..almost white now. Nice to not depend on chemicals every 3 weeks. I did get a shorter hair cut to help and used toner in beginning. I can't wait to see what mine looks like after a year or two.🤩
You look truly beautiful! Your natural colour suits you so well. I'm 4 months no box dyes and have tried lowlights but now choosing to being totally natural. I think staying a sweet, genuine soul, caring for and styling your hair simply and a bit of lippy and life is beautiful.
The RUclips algorithm must be in my brain because it randomly suggested your channel to me! I am 44, I have blonde hair, and thought "I'm not going gray." But an outing on a river raft in the sunlight brought the silvers streaking through my hair to my awareness! LOL But I seriously go back and forth on the subject. I either hate the idea of spending the time/money/effort coloring it or I see someone saying "I'm 60" and they look amazing with their NOT gray hair and I think, "Well, that's what I have to do." I'm glad I stumbled on your channel though. You look great and I'm back on the "no dye" mindset for now! LOL (not that I have attempted to color it yet... again, it's that time and effort thing!)
So pleased for you. You radiate joy and happiness. I too love my silver hair 18 months in. Well done and congratulations on your lovely uplifting channel, you look truly beautiful.
Your hair looks beautiful. Everything you said I agree 100%. I did color my hair one time after the salons reopened so in May I will be 2 years natural. My hair streaks like your does and my hair is healthier now. I don’t lose large amounts of hair when I wash it like I used to when I was coloring it. Thank you for all the inspiration and support you have given to thousands of women with your videos.
You are beautiful inside and out! I am just starting my gray hair journey and luckily you are the first video I found on the topic. I’m so thankful because it completely put me at ease. You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your journey!
You’re rocking it! Nice to see you again on here! You were one of the first channels I started to follow two years ago and it really helped me along the way! Thanks for sharing!!!
Wow! You look amazing!! I went gray in my 30's and then started dying again. Now I am going gray again, it just looks so much better than those strange colors.
Thank you so much for your videos! They’ve been very inspiring very positive. I am transitioning into gray, I just stopped getting highlights, and my grays will be my highlights! I have forwarded some of your videos to my best friend who has very dark brown hair and lots of gray… She gets her hair colored every two weeks! Hoping your inspirational videos will convince her to let go and embrace the natural beauty of Gray! By the way, your salt and pepper hair is absolutely totally gorgeous! 😊
You look lovely. :) I stopped dyeing my hair in 2013 when I was 42 and I'm so glad I did. Whenever that line of grey would start to grow in, I always felt like my hair looked dirty. I love having grey hair and not having to worry about it at all. I've donated my hair twice so far and plan on donating it again next year. Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids is very close to our house in Michigan and they are a great organization to donate to. Thanks for sharing your story!
Hi, can I just say you look beautiful. I am 60 years old, and this month I have finally decided to let my grey hairs shine through. I have watched all your videos and you have given me so much inspiration, thank you so much. Take care, and have a happy life.
I love this! I am 3 months in to my transition process and I am 39 years old. I have moments of being super worried about what it’s going to look like when it hits a certain length or regrowth period 😬 but like you I hated seeing that demarcation every 2 weeks after touching up my roots. And I got to the point where I was like, I spend more time with the roots than I do with perfectly touched up dyed hair… continuing to live like that just doesn’t make any sense to me! And it will just get worse and more severe as time goes on so I figured I should just deal with it now. Love seeing your videos! Very inspiring and your hair looks incredible 😍
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm about 6 months in. My favorite part is how my natural hair tone is cool toned! How many years I have fought the brassy warm orange tones from hair dye!! Ahhh I should have done this years ago!
Oh your hair looks so good!! Congratulations on 2 years dye free! I am now at 16 months dye free and starting to gain some confidence about my decision to let my natural grey shine.
Wow!!! You look beautiful! I am finally doing the same thing. I am so tired of fighting my hair. I have dyed my hair since I was in my 20's and am now 68. I also have very wavy hair and have been using a flat iron to keep it straight. What a waste of energy. I am now going on 3 months of not coloring it. I am so glad you decided to make these videos. I think more women will embrace their true beauty. I am also going to let my hair go wavy. I want to be who I really am.
It's so amazing to see the different shades of grey. Yours is more a darker grey. I just started my journey and mine is coming in white. Yours is such a pretty color.
Your hair looks amazing. Congratulations on being fully dye free. I’m about 99% ready to ditch the dye too. I’m sick and tired of spending precious time and money getting my hair colored/highlighted to look in the mirror 2 weeks later and see grays popping up. I’m tired of fighting the inevitable. Right now it’s been 6 weeks since I’ve got my hair done. It’s gonna be a long journey but will be freeing once I cross the finish line.
I stopped wasting so much money at the salons since they closed down everything. Went to my natural brown and just do the roots with box color. Lots of saving. But I still want to do highlights and different hair colors and my greys aren’t grey:( they’re white. Idk I’m lost
You are so adorable! RUclips put you in my queue because I just recently stopped coloring my hair (and I’m ALL IN!!). I love your JOY over your transition!!! I feel that way even now even though I only have just over half an inch of gray! I am someone who doesn’t care one but what other people think, so that’s not a worry for me…but I definitely can’t wait for my God given natural color to be all grown out! Woohoo!! Congrats to you!!!❤️💃🏻🔥
Good for you! I also have premature grey hair 39 years old and since I was 12 started to see grey hair…. Unlike you I have had rude people come up to me and have even been called “crazy” for letting my hair grow naturally. You really have to be prepared for sometimes opposition but I feel so free! I like u would feel so anxious of the grey makings it’s appearance after 2 weeks. I sometimes have my moments but I want to give myself the opportunity to experience my natural hair color and simply tune out what others feel is the right color for my hair. Be patient with yourself and give yourself a reasonable time frame to see if you love the way you look. It may mean adjusting makeup, jewelry and clothes…foe ex before I would not look as good w cool tone colors now I can pull them off better bc of the grey…I am enjoying the process and having fun.
You look amazing and I love your hair so much!! The cut and color looks so good! I found your channel a couple months ago and binged every video lol, I'm 9 months into my hair dye growout and I'm so excited to reach the one year milestone, 18 months and 2 years! I'm 31 and mostly have grey around my temples with little streaks through the rest of my hair, can't wait to see what it looks like fully grown out!
I'm at the ten month stage. I would love to keep in contact with someone who is going through the transition. Do you have what's app ? We could keep in contact for moral support and share hair pictures. I also have grey hairs around the temple area. I'm 35. Carly :)
It's exciting to make the transition to natural hair color. I am a redhead, I have been growing out my white hair for about two years as well. I have a nice copperplate colour; sort of a rose gold, but I love styling my hair and it's frustrating there's so little information about products that are appropriate for redheads with white hair. I may have to learn from doing....
My roots look very similar to your hair. Last time they got long I started considering growing it out. Ultimately I ended up dyeing it but I’m glad I found your channel. I do like the look of your hair.
I search on RUclips bc I’m 9 months in and really struggling feeling old looking and going grey when I still have kids in high school, but this video is encouraging me to hang in there. I hope I do.
Congratulations. Looks great! I did the same thing with my hair. I wish I would have found you sooner!! I am almost done with mine journey too. We had a similar experience and reasoning for doing this!
I am at a fun place of growing out grey on top with my stylist's help and she gave me fun areas on the formerly dyed bottom to PLAY with color blending into the grey - starting with a terracotta I am able to dye it myself with oranges, pinks, and raspberries, all toned down with greys, all mixed together for fun, it will slowly be trimmed out as I grow it out.
The color has so much depth to it, I think it looks incredible! I'm excited to watch my color change as I age. Right now I'm 33, with most of my natural color still. I have some grays along the top, but my temples have a few light streaks. After dying my hair with henna and then getting into skin undertone stuff with Miriam Style, I realized that the hair color that looks best on you...is the color it grows out of your scalp as. And the last time I dyed my hair I actually missed my natural color by so much. Natural hair color is the most interesting color I've seen on anyone's head. Ever. My hair is a medium ash brown color. So it's cool toned and very muted. Because my skin undertone is cool and muted. My friend's skin is cool and brilliant. So his hair is also cool-toned and brown like mine. Only, his color is very bright and vivid. And to see and understand that difference is super cool. And when I see a natural head of hair, I love to look at it and the person's skin tone and try to figure out their genes about it, and then I notice how intricate and beautiful the color is. And I just think it's the most beautiful thing in the world!!! When I go grey though, I still might use Ayurveda to see if I can dye it an ash blonde. At least once...to see how it looks. I like doing that before getting all my hair chopped off. It'd be fun to see how it looks!!!
You look amazing! I really want to grow out my natural hair! I keep thinking about it and not taking the plunge because my mother (age 76) and aunts all color their hair! I don't think I'm quite their yet but your story is really inspiring and I appreciate you taking the time to share.
You look Bella!! Your hair is beautiful. I'm in month # 14 , I used to be Jet Bkack, and refuse to cut it. Now a have red ends after no box color for 14 months. I feel very happy 😊 and my hair is very shiny and healthy. You di have a lot of dark in it so the contrast does not look like mine. I have the grays very white , there is no pepper at all in me. Just pure white. It's been the best thing that I've done in my life!!
I'm so happy for you! You look great, and your beautiful smile says it all. Your videos kept me inspired and motivated. I am seven months, so far, growing my grey out naturally, and I hope to continue. 🤗 Wish me luck! 🍀I hope to be like Storm. You are still rocking it like Rogue, my dear. What truly matters is what makes you happy. 🌻 Wishing you good health and happiness always! 💫
You look lovely Kat , I cannot believe it has been 2 years 🤭 I had a pixie done & like you 100% natural grey, loving mine to I agree embrace it … . In 100 hundred years time, I can guarantee I won’t be in the history books about my grey hair. 😂😂🇬🇧👍🏻xxxx p.s I feel good being chemical free as well, as my scalp was becoming more sensitive & had hair loss. Now it has stopped 🙏🏻
Good for you! It took me till much later to make that decision and I don’t regret it. I love my salt and pepper hair. Congratulations! It feels so liberating.
You look amazing it would take me 10yrs to do the grey transition as I have very long hair I've not been to a salon in over 10yrs after a bad experience where I went for a trim and the stylist cut off 7 inches of my hair I was traumatised as i had alopecia in my 20s i nowI trim my hair myself so it will take me forever to grow mine out yours looks stunning
Without really thinking about it too much, I decided last August or September that I was done coloring my hair (right before my 40th). I was just done with the ridiculous double standard that it’s acceptable for men to age but that women should chase after youth until we die. Today I had some blending done to try to lift some of the remaining color off the ends and blend in my roots, and it looks so damn good. My color is very similar to yours; I still have a fair amount of dark underneath, so I am very salt and pepper. Thanks so much for sharing your journey! Your hair is gorgeous.
I hope you are still checking your messages… I have decided to go silver. I am allergic to the dye and am probably going to just go cold turkey. I have weighed my options (and risks of more rashes or allergic reactions) and I think I would like to just embrace the grey and cut my hair shorter each haircut. My hair is black and my grey is mostly white. My family has traditionally been white early in life. I have colored my hair since I was 25. I have dark hair to my waist. I am now picking out haircuts to try during this process. I think I will cut a little bit more each hair cut and give myself the option to change my mind if this doesn’t work. So far, I don’t mind the grey/white at all! I feel so much better! My reaction is almost gone after 4-5 weeks of no dye. I will watch more of your videos for encouragement. Did you have any haircuts you liked? Did you wear any hair accessories that you liked? I am a nurse so I can wear a scrub cap or headband if I want to. I mostly wear my hair up too! You look beautiful and I am so glad that you are so happy. I only know my sister that has grown out her hair, she has short hair and it took 4 haircuts, lol. She looks great!
You look younger than 40 even with the gray hair! You are beautiful.
I think I would embrace my natural hair when it turns gray.
I agree!! I would have thought she was twenty something!! ❤
Thank you. 😍🤩
Thank you 😊 Congrats on coming up on 1 year dye-free!!
You look beautiful! Thanks so much for your videos. After about a year of subconsciously wavering about this, I accidentally stumbled on videos of gorgeous grey haired women last night and I’m so inspired. I’m 52 years old and the time feels right. Thanks so much for sharing your journey ❤
Your genuine happiness is inspiring. Thank you!
I am dye-free 2 years and 3 months. I had colored my hair since I was 15; I am now 55. Very happy!!! I love my brown (and a little gray) hair.
That is wonderful!
You look so good, I am screaming behind my screen 💕 I am 32 and not planning to dye my hair at all ~. I needed some people that could also encourage me in my path and i have loved watching your videos! Keep it up!
Your young looking skin really adds to the gray not giving you an 'aged' look.
I love the white streaks. We are all unique.
You are stunning with your natural color. Absolutely Beautiful!! You inspire. Thank you so much 💗
I am a year into growing out my gray at age 56. My hair is long. I had my hair stylist bleached out my colored hair. I still have quite a bit of the bleached blond hair. I love the freedom that I have now! So it is you are on the fence! 😃
I love it! What a beautiful color🥰✨
I started my natural gray-hair journey in September this year and I’m really looking forward to the end result🤩 I’ve fallen in love with the gray long hair look🙌
I'm 27 and started transitioning 3 months ago. I was blessed with earlier graying in my teens (genetics) ihave the prettiest white patches above my ears! The top of my head has a demarcation line . I am excited about my natural highlights 🤗
You're so sweet 😊 love your positive attitude
Love your hair
It looks great! I'm only 9 weeks into my "growing my grey's" out and it really is an empowering feeling. I can honestly say I do love it so far.
Where are you today with this journey? It’s been another year and I came across your videos.
Thank you so much for doing this series. I’m 48 and have for whatever reason held on to my youth, but hearing you embrace it makes me excited to grow it out.
Looks great ♥️💯

Thank you! I’m was on the fence and after watching this video I’m going to go for it! I so appreciate your honesty and authenticity 🙏💜
Hi, can I just say you look beautiful. I am 60 years old, and this month I have finally decided to let my grey hairs shine through. I have watched all your videos and you have given me so much inspiration, thank you so much. Take care, and have a happy life.

Looks amazing! You’ve helped inspire me to start the process as well ! Thanks for the update and keep us posted .
I'm so glad you are starting ❤️ I'm cheering you on!
Such amazing encouragement, Thank you so much for your support.
You look stunning! I've been considering this for a while, but worried it may not be a good match for me.
You look amazing and I love your hair so much!! The cut and color looks so good! It looks great ❤️
I’m doing the same. I feel so happy & free‼️🥰 The dye was making my scalp itchy. You look lovely. 👌
Yay, I'm so glad you feel happy & free! And, thank you!

I love it ❤️ thank you. I just made the decision 3 months ago and I am actually very excited about it
You look stunning with your grey hair as always... You always radiate youthful energy...
Thank you so much 😊
I search on RUclips bc I’m 9 months in and really struggling feeling old looking and going grey when I still have kids in high school, but this video is encouraging me to hang in there. I hope I do.
Girl... I have a 2 yr old and trying to do this 😂😅
You are so gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your journey.
You look awesome and you’re very inspiring! Thank you for sharing your journey with us! 🙏💐
Can you do a makeup get ready with me vid? I love how your freckles show through and your makeup enhances your features but doesn’t fully cover them 😊
You are an inspiration I'm not dyeing my hair anymore also I'm looking forward to it and have no concerns
Congratulations. Looks great! I did the same thing with my hair. I wish I would have found you sooner!! I am almost done with mine journey too. We had a similar experience and reasoning for doing this!
Looks beautiful, love your natural haircolour🥰
Thank you so much 😊
The hair looks so pretty ✨
I am at a fun place of growing out grey on top with my stylist's help and she gave me fun areas on the formerly dyed bottom to PLAY with color blending into the grey - starting with a terracotta I am able to dye it myself with oranges, pinks, and raspberries, all toned down with greys, all mixed together for fun, it will slowly be trimmed out as I grow it out.
I love it on you! Looks beautiful!
Your hair looks great! Thank you for sharing🙂 I know the frustration every 2 weeks after each dye job...I'm almost 1.5 years in and love it.
I'm so glad to hear that!!
Your hair makes your eyes sparkle ✨ well done 👍, you have inspired me 🤗
You have a lovely face/hair and well done you for having the courage to show your grey.
Good for you! It looks lovely and I hope you’re still as pleased (if not more pleased) now than when you first made this video.
Great video...thank you for the inspiration.
You look amazing! Inspiring! ❤😊
Love your natural hair! I’m 31 and and almost 3 month dye free.. I definitely will have a salt and pepper look too. So excited ❤
Looks great. That color is a great fit for you.
Hi! Im getting ready to start this transition! Would love to see an update video from you.
Beautiful and inspiring. Also suits you!
Congrats on making it 7 months 🙌🏻 I'm cheering you on!
I love this. I am so tired of feeling bad about having gray hair.
You look lovely Kat , I cannot believe it has been 2 years 🤭 I had a pixie done & like you 100% natural grey, loving mine to
I agree embrace it … .
So glad your scalp is better in addition to you loving your hair!
@@DitchingDietsDye thanks Kat 🇬🇧❤️
Now I need a video on how you style curl your hair! Super cute! Wondering if the texture has changed? Thanks for keeping me motivated!
Good for you! It took me till much later to make that decision and I don’t regret it. I love my salt and pepper hair. Congratulations! It feels so liberating.
Love, love, love your hair
Thank you for this video. I have been on the fence. I feel like I am ready now.
Very beautiful hair!!
You look amazing it would take me 10yrs to do the grey transition as I have very long hair I've not been to a salon in over 10yrs after a bad experience where I went for a trim and the stylist cut off 7 inches of my hair I was traumatised as i had alopecia in my 20s i nowI
trim my hair myself so it will take me forever to grow mine out yours looks stunning
Congrats 🎉 you inspire me 😊
Without really thinking about it too much, I decided last August or September that I was done coloring my hair (right before my 40th).
I'm on the fence and thos does help. Thank you, your hair looks great!
Great advice and comments. Your hair look so gorgeous, congratulations on reaching your goal.xx
Thank you so much!
