Devo performing Jocko Homo, live at The Observatory in Los Angeles, exclusively on Moshcam.
David Bowie dubbed them "the band of the future", Brian Eno produced their debut and everyone from Nirvana to Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine have covered them.
A contagious collision of New Wave punk, arty experimentalism and subversive politics, these music mavericks burst onto the world scene in the late '70s and turned pop music on its head forever with hits like 'Whip It', 'Girl U Want', 'Mongoloid' and 'Beautiful World'.
So when the chance to film these icons in action at The Observatory at Santa Ana, California came up earlier this year, we jumped at it. Needless to say, they didn't disappoint, delivering a spectacle jammed with hits old and new, gloriously oddball antics and their mental mascot, Booji Boy.
"The Mayan calendar was wrong," frontman Jerry Casale told the crowd on the night. "The world is not going to end this year so you're stuck with us for a long time."
We wouldn't have it any other way, Jerry.

The first time I got into this song I woke up on a broken couch with a couple ice beers lying around with my nails painted for the first time. Devolution is real.
Q: Are we not old men?
A: We are still DEVO!
Those "old men" will school your millennial useless ass all day long.
D E V O
@@pt8208 I’m a millennial myself, but they figured out humanity is doomed to destroy itself a long time ago.
anyone who instantly thinks of "whip it" when devo is mentioned are not true spuds... THIS is the devo anthem
r/gatekeeping
No. They actually have a corporate anthem, syntax1269.
Whip it is the least Devo Devo song.
Man rest in peace bob 2:,(

Why Would You Go To The Trouble Of Capitalizing Every Word ?
DEVO is unique and fun.
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for Watching & Subscribing!
This song is so amazing. I wonder why the "God Made Man" part is omitted from a lot of incarnations of the song, including the creepy music video (that I love)?
Either way, amazing song. Why don't we hear crazy music like this anymore? I fear we have devolved below the point of making chaotic masterpieces like this.
Your answer is obvious, they are afraid of pissing off non religious people or those who don't follow the Abramic religions.
feioncastor the reason it was never in the music video is because that version of Jocko Homo was recorded a few years before the offical album release, they had used audio from from an older demo
Check out Talking Heads, Zach Hill's solo work, Flying Lotus, and Igorrr if you want chaotic. Give me a style and emotion, and I can name you a few bands.
@@joshwizinsky1979 Yeah, that's also why the video didn't have the "O-hi-O" bit.
@@Seriona1 I think it's the opposite. They were afraid of offending the Abrahamists. Its calling God a monkey.
Best modern live version I've heard yet. Faster and lively. I think this environment suits them better than the big day time stadiums if peeps who just don't know.
devolicious.
Devo = Mad Science Prophets for the Future that is Now.
Muy bueno
Kurt Cobain called them 'the most subversive band.'
Jesuchrist Von Piro Fuck yourself
@@Hal9000ize haha but he was a nobody that chose to abuse himself with goodness knows what and then to top it all he kills himself, good riddance imo
@Serial Killa and that's exactly what it is *my* opinion, not looking for any attention
@Serial Killa he had a couple of songs that were "ok" apart from that.. what, we all know Dave was the main man in that pub group ;)
@Serial Killa for someone your age maybe and i may be making an assumption here but i bet you were a teenager in the "Nirvana" days
Their best song and anthem as syntaxx below rightly pointed out....I also love come back Jonee, gates of steel and smart patrol/mr dna
To me gut feeling is the best.
Devo formed in 1972!
unbefuckingleivable
we are WE ARE.
Loving the progressive part of it
Moshcam, I am making a Devo tribute video and want to use some of your amazing footage in it. I hope you don't mind if I do!
What's the medley bit that Mark plays during the striptease portion starting at 2:05? Jeff seems to smile at him before he picks up his sticks.
Love Rollercoaster
at 2:12 where has that piano rift been used before ?
+Isaac Knott Love Rollercoaster
+MrEverythingMusic thanks man
+Isaac Knott no worries, was bugging me too
Devo formed in 1972.
Gimmick band.
Greg Proops on vocals there?
It's so funny to see how they fit the same outfit they used when they were young! 😉
De. Evolution.
I'm genuinely surprised that this song hasn't been used in a movie at the scene where the character goes complete "ape" shit and destroys everything
When ur late on rent u get desperate
Hey, playing DEVO songs is an awesome way to get rent money lol
Hate this bloody song!
