Tip: Instead of buying a grip for my 1st gen apple pencil, i stripped a grip off of an old ballpoint pen and i slipped it on the apple pencil. Mine fits perfectly.
I’m watching all these vids about taking notes bc I’m waiting for my iPad Pro 2020 😂 I just realised I’m taking a big upgrade,I’m going from iPad Mini 1st generation, to iPad Pro 2020 😂
Peach Mocha yh ik I have the pen as that arrived early before the magic Keyboard and the actual iPad Pro 2020, and I have my initials on it and I don’t want to cover it up, bc I just don’t want to ya’ know, so I’m not getting a cover, just a grip kind of thing
i got an apple pencil and realized my ipad was too old so my dad kindly got me an early bday present, an ipad 7th gen! its arrival dates are 17-20 im sooo exited! edit 9/13/20 thank you all sooo much for the likes (757) and replies (40)!! feel free to ask me any questions but make sure you read the other replies first so i won't be asking the same question twice 😂 -also i have it now and i use GoodnNotes 5!
I love it now that I'm back in classes and being paperless! I honestly used to feel really bad growing up and wasting so much paper on notes since I've always had an issue with not being eco-friendly. It's so much better, neater and you're more organized as well since all your notebooks can be in one app like goodnotes
I think i have watched this vdo 100 to 200 times...its really so satisfying...and your handwriting is so beautiful...keep making this types of videos...
I have an iPad and an Apple Pencil that I got over Quarantine. I love it so much! I draw with it. And for me I find it really comfortable even without any grips. For anyone who is gonna get an Apple Pencil...just don’t worry about it! It is actually pretty comfortable.
This is so good. I’m done with my first year of college and I investing in an ipad air with the pencil and it’s a game changer. My backpack is so much lighter because I’m not carrying a notebook for every class. It’s all in one app and my professors post pdf files of the powerpoint lectures before class so I’m able to download them and easily follow along in class
Even though i have nothing to do with the kind of videos u make but i watch them anyways coz the aesthetic of the video and your voice are soooooothing
I don't know, I think I've gotten used to having the iPad. I'm not 100% paperless (never will be) because I love using stationery, but I don't think it makes much of a difference in terms of engagement. I find it a lot less stressful to take notes on the iPad because I can easily correct mistakes and customise my notes without the permanence of writing on paper (or the need to use whiteout). But I do like to answer problem sets and past papers (and occasionally some notes) on paper because I like my pens and want to use them. I think it has a lot to do with your mindset. The iPad is a great tool for studying, but buying the iPad and using it alone doesn't give you good grades. That has to come from you. You need to take ownership of your learning. You can use the iPad to help you get better grades, but only you can make that happen by using it well and in ways you feel comfortable.
Hillary Zhu hey 👋🏻 what screen protector are you using ? Is it the original Paperlike ? I would like to purchase a new matte screen protector and I very confused 😐
alia hi thank you for your reply. I knew that PaperLike was the og, I just wanted to know if it was the og that caused the pen tip wearing. In the end I went with an Elecom. I’ve heard so many great things about it and a lot of people told me to go with it on reddit. I love the texture, and my screen is brighter than ever 😊
I haven't changed the tip of my pencil since I first got it and the iPad back in 2015, I draw and take a lot of notes with it, like for anatomy physiology, microbiology etc etc, so I'm so surprised! I'm also hoping this screen protector doesn't wear out the tips too fast!
Thank you. I have the very first iPad Air but I've given to my mom. Just ordered the newest one today, should be here tomorrow and I feel like I have to start all over again on how to use it. This was so helpful.
I’m going into a new school that uses a lot of digital notes and materials so thank you for thisss! I’ll defo try out the screen cover and the pen grip since those should address my two biggest problems
thank you Janice for the templates i haven't learned how to write in cursive yet because of CO-VID so when i get my iPad i will download them and i really want to learn how to because it cools really cool ,cant wait!
Hi Janice! I really enjoy your videos as you're one of the few that do note-taking videos without an ipad pro. Your videos have made me seriously consider buying the 7th gen 128gb ipad as my main gadget/device for school and personal purposes (like art) and I'm wondering, do you think this iPad will last the next 4-5 years while still offering good performance?
i can’t wait until i upgrade my iPad but i have to work with what i have for right now 😖! i have a iPad mini 2 it’s super small but im going to use it for note taking and i have a disk stylus it’s super precise similar to the Apple Pencil just super light weight and has a different tip but works really well for writing! im definitely going to try goodnotes for note taking. this video was super helpful
Hey Janice... I just really love your content & website. It really helps me a lottt. And the podcasts are really awesome & inspiring as well... Keep providing such content regularly . ❤️ From 🇮🇳 India.
This is the perfect channel omg, i just got my iPad 7th for my bday and i can’t use GoodNotes rlly good yen, i hate my handwriting there, also i don’t have the Apple Pencil and im using a simple digital pen. Anyaway, keep doing videos like this, bb luv u
Well... I was struggling like crazy because of that home button and boom 💣 the idea was just to flip the iPad!! And the bottom used to literally haunt me I was like aah but you told that the angle matters and boom 💣 it does! Like thank god I pressed this video while scrolling on my iPad love u so much ❤
Thanks for the tips. I really like writing with My Apple PenCil 2 on my Pad Pro. Didnt know about the grid layout in Notability. I pretty much have to write in cursive to get My text to come out well. I really like the SelVy Pen Script Keyboard for writing in any document. I am using it now to write this comment Thanks for the great Video
I've always wanted to do digital note-taking and practiced it on a daily bases even though electronics weren't allowed in school, but this year because of the corona, we were allowed to use electronics cause the school says "it will prevent us from using the school pads" so I'm really excited to take notes digitally, and I learned how to type fast this summer so now I can also use my laptop for digital note taking, wish me luck!!!!
I cant wait for 1-2 weeks international delivery so I diy my pencil grip. I buy a cheap, big pen (the one with multiple ink compartment inside, that looked quite bulky) and remove the grip and use it on my apple pencil. It fits perfectly and is cheaper too.
round,,cheeksxp yeh do it! You just have to find a pen with similar size to the apple pencil or even a tiny bit bigger cz usually normal pens have like a curve where they slot in the grip which makes diameter of the grip smaller.
Your tips are so helpful thank you so much just got my first iPad this month just need the Apple Pencil next and thank you so very much for the handwriting template can’t wait to practice and improve my handwriting 💕💕
you already know i’m going to be doing your handwriting sheet every single day, i have loads of time to kill and hopefully i can improve my handwriting before i start college! also, one thing about your handwriting sheet, i think that it should be ‘jumps’ instead of ‘jumped’ in ‘the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog’ otherwise there’d be no ‘s’ in the sentence. nonetheless it is really helpful :) but i am struggling to join up each letter. ❤️
wow, i must put a lot of pressure when im writing on my ipad because i've had to replace my apple pencil tip after 4 months of use (i also have a paperlike screen protector on my ipad screen)
I have a 2nd gen pencil and I still need a sleeve on it bc even though it's matte it's a soft matte. So it's still pretty slippy. Also! I've been using the Paperlike cover for like a year, year and a half, and I JUST noticed wear on my pencil. So it does wear it down, but it takes a while. I also write pretty hard tbh so people who don't do... that... probably won't have as much of an issue!
Hey guys! Just for you to know!! I have an iPad 2019 12 inches and the writing sensation is akward buuuuuutttt in the iPad Pro its amaaaazzzziiinnnggg!!! (Even without glass protection)
Thanks so much for watching! If you're interested in trying out Paperlike here is a link! paperlike.com/janice3 ⭐ I hope you're all staying safe. What are you currently doing to ride out this quarantine?
Does the screen paper like mess up the tip of the Apple Pencil. I been thinking of getting paper like for my iPad 12.9 but not sure just worrying about the tip. Right now I have a glass screen. Please help 😊 Love your Notes and channel💕
Erynn Madrid doesn’t completely ruin it but it seems to add more friction which dulls the tip which leads to less precision when writing. This has been my experience with the 1st gen pencil.
It messes up your tip and your screen quality. I removed mine after a couple of months. The iPad felt like a brand-new device because screen quality finally was great again.
Hi Janice :) Thanks for this really usefull video. Quick question : when using your black template, you're writing with a white pencil. How do you do then to print your sheets?
Hi! I absolutely loved this video! I’ve had my iPad for about a month now and my handwriting has improved a lot. However, I wanted to ask u about the size. When I write, I’ve noticed that my handwriting gets very small compared to yours or mine in paper. I’ve tried using thicker pencils, about 0.35 and even 0.5 in other cases. Do you have any tips to fix that? Thank u💕💕💕💕
Absolutely in love with your keyboard! 😍 are the purple ones different key caps you put on after ? Which keyboard is that? So adorable ! & great video!!! 💛
Tip: Instead of buying a grip for my 1st gen apple pencil, i stripped a grip off of an old ballpoint pen and i slipped it on the apple pencil. Mine fits perfectly.

I have tried that too. It failed lol

Just watching it to motivate myself to get it by next year 😂

I just realised I’m taking a big upgrade,I’m going from iPad Mini 1st generation, to iPad Pro 2020 😂
i love this
Just to point out that the 2nd gen Apple Pencil is matte and not shiny, so I find I don’t need a grip!
It's still heavy super thin that I still find it extremely inconvenient to use without a grip
Sylveon_Fairy same but i got a grip since i draw and edit. its one that doesnt cover my engraving.
It's only compatible with iPad pro, people with iPad air or mini still have to buy Apple pencil 1
I'm scared cuz since its white, eventually the color will change yellow-ish over time
i got an apple pencil and realized my ipad was too old so my dad kindly got me an early bday present, an ipad 7th gen! its arrival dates are 17-20 im sooo exited!

My hero academia no, it is plenty big for drawing. I have an iPad 7th gen as well. And I’m always drawing on mine.
I hope it arrived well❤️ have fun with it
I love these kind of videos bc I’m planning on saving up for the iPad 7th gen and Apple Pencil and I want to learn more abt note taking on the ipad

Does anyone else notice that taking notes with an actual pen and paper makes you more engaged in studying/learn things more easily?
Yep. Same thing with the book/ ebook thing. I don't know why is that. 🤷
I don't know, I think I've gotten used to having the iPad. Both the tip and the screen protector will need replacement after some time as the screen protector will also become dull.
