    Don’t Tell the Bride is a wedding show like no other; instead of the wedding you want, it’s the wedding you’ll never forget - hopefully for all the right reasons! Each episode follows a couple through the entire process of organising a wedding, but the twist is that the bride has absolutely no involvement. For better or for worse, she has agreed to hand overall control of the wedding to the groom. She has no idea where she’s getting married, who is turning up or even what she is wearing until the big day itself. The couples are separated for the month leading up to the big day and the groom has to pull off the whole thing in secret. Will the relationship survive the strain? Will the groom succeed in pulling together the perfect wedding? And is his idea of perfection anywhere near hers?

    My first wedding ceremony took less than 5 mins and didn't take either of us agreeing to anything. It was his mother (a preacher) that did the ceremony. My mother asked for the quickest one cause she and my father had to drag me down the isle. She was afraid I was going to jet out of the chapel. Parents shouldn't force their children to marry even if they decide at the last minute they dont want to. My marriage lasted 3 months before major problems, total 9 months before it ended. My parents should have trusted me and my decision at the chapel not to marry the guy instead of forcing me down the isle and into marriage.

      I wish I’d used my instincts on my marriage and said no I’ll wait when my partner wanted to do it , because it wouldn’t have happened. My dad told me I don’t have to get married , when I said don’t you like my partner he said yes it’s hard not to but I don’t think he’s reliable and he was right, not reliable or dependable when things got difficult he just ran and came back when it was felt with, 11 years older and I had to be the strong one our whole 31 years of marriage, it’s only this last 7 years with a new partner I understand what it means to be looked after when it goes both ways. Why did I stay so long because I knew he’d be rubbish without me.

    • @IrishQ76
      @IrishQ76 4 месяца назад +6

      @@joane24 thank you, I'm doing well thank you. It wasn't an arranged marriage but my parents were old fashioned and didn't think I had enough wisdom to have the hair on the back my neck stand up saying this isn't right. I do admit I was young 23 but not that young to sense something wasn't right. And yes as Susan stated, I should have noticed sooner but I didn't. People never know when they will get that sense of somethings not right. I'm thankful I did before hand what good it did me. I did honor marriage until I had leave for personal safety. Even though Susan said I had choice, I didn't, if moved away from the altar my parents would have took me back and the preach did vows that didn't evolve either party agreeing to them. Guess it's easier to say things to others when you weren't there or didn't know the situation. I'm glad it's over, it's in past, and I have moved on to a more beautiful life.

I had my mom and grandma there. He had his parents. That was it, plus the Justice of the Peace. There were 4 photos taken. I have 1. However, I am ever bit as married as anyone else. It's been 18 years, I don't regret going through with my wedding that day. It wasn't ideal, but we already knew life is full of give and take. Maybe we'll have a lovely renewal at 30yrs, who knows. I know I didn't sink thousands of dollars into a party when we were already young, broke, and had a toddler, so I count it a win.

    I love that people are almost offended at a registry office and pub.....im getting married to my other half in june this year, we've been together over 20 yrs and guess what peeps, we chose a registry office and our reception is at our local cricket club. My dress has been the most expensive item at £800, and i couldnt be more happy and excited. We really dont care if someone questions our choices or judges that we havent spent alot of money, we are doing it for ourselves and for our closest friends and family to have a fun day and thats all that matters to us.

      Maybe i'm confused but isn't the entire premise of the show that the groom is given 12,000 pounds to plan the wedding and the bride doesn't know anything until the wedding day? Obviously there is nothing wrong with a registry office wedding but it makes me suspicious of where the money he was given by the production company to plan the wedding has gone too. Perhaps he spent the entire budget on himself and couldn't afford anything else? All I know is the registry office and pub wouldn't cost him anywhere near 12,000 pounds...

    i remember this couple, and they have been through a lot. but her refusal for a registry office. i can't remember if she was religious or not, as in "this is my church, that I've been going through as a child" sort of thing. after that there are very few places you can get legally married, even the ones on DTTB that take place in a field, have to do the registry bit later. also a registry office is not romantic...right. tell my cousin and her wife, who after waiting 20 years to get married legally, had that moment. love and romance is what you make it. but i was glad she was happy with her big top wedding in the end
