  • This is a repeat of sorts -- after '60s musical funnyman Allan Sherman plundered Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours in 1963 with his evergreen "Hello Muddah Hallo Faddah", he returned to the well the following year with this set of all-new verses. While he was previously wary of summer camp, this time around, the narrator loves it despite the many downsides and age-inappropriate activities conducted there.
Neither song is really a home run -- they both have verses that should have been left on the cutting-room floor (in this case, the "whale in a bikini" bit... clearly projection in the case of the "overweight sensation" who wrote the song.) If you (somehow, despite their opposing premises) managed to round up the best parts of both songs into a single composition you'd have a solid gold anthem for the ages, but since that isn't what happened, what you end up with is two halves that aren't quite a whole each, but have still managed to successfully stick around quite a bit longer than one might have expected!
In any case, it is peak summer camp season right at this moment, so if I'm not going to share this now, then when?
