Man you talking about how this battle is a piece of cake hurts me feelings as someone who still can't clear it. Then again ZUN did say it will be the easiest touhou to-date. This extra stage is actually the perfect difficulty for me. I usually can't clear extra stages because they are too hard, but with this one, it actually feels like I have a chance. In all honesty, I always felt like the Extra stage should be a bit more accessable - and that happening makes me happy. I don't view it being easy for masters like you as a negative.
Since this extra is much more important to the story than usual, I honestly think it makes sense for it to be more accessible. That doesn’t make it any less cool! Though, an easy fix for Reimu would be to just make her shot not target enemies from behind for this particular game.
I'm pretty sure it's because during a Spell Card she's coded so when you use a bomb or release she turns invulnerable and then vulnerable again, but he forgot to make her survival an exception, so when you do one of those she technically turns invulnerable, since she already was it makes no difference, but then she turns vulnerable, because that's what is supposed to happen in the Spells
having a homing shot definitely trivializes anything with a super-mobile boss. Also weird that zun forces you to use this backwards shot mechanic but then doesn't notice a lot of cards can be trivialized by abusing it (like the midbosses). Seems like this would be fun to pacifist though, forcing you to constantly be mobile throughout is different enough to make a pacifist run more exciting. Nobody does those runs anymore, bring them back!
Honestly it's very fitting. In the story the heroines use a gap between seasons in order to defeat Okina. So your seasonal abilities are supposed to be THE reason that you win. No wonder it's overpowered.
I've only beaten the extra stage with Reimu and yeah it definitely feels busted lol. Some day I'll have to beat it with the others. I can imagine the patterns in HSoFS extra that rely on you killing the enemies that spawn would be absolute hell to pacifist. But certainly some of them look like they'd be fun. I've tried pacifist for SA extra and I've only been able to make it as far as the third non-spell before Release of the Id, and only if I let myself bomb because I'm not a god gamer. It's so fucking hard trying to maintain the same dodge movements for at least a minute on each pattern, but otherwise it was pretty interesting to try.

It only makes sense that Yukari would make a contingency plan should Matara have done something, which makes me think that Yukari also has something to counter Kasen. It's also funny that we came right off of a game where Yukari was, once again, the critical point that allowed Reimu to beat Shion and Joon Yorigami. Pretty much the only scheme of hers that failed was their doings with the Moon, but that was rendered moot when Junko hatched her own scheme and invaded herself.

Sorry, but honestly, when you compare it to most other Survivals, it just looks wrong. I mean even for the standards of this Extra difficulty, that was *way* too easy. The only danger is getting pointblanked, but I assume thats a quick fix with memo.
this is the weirdest touhou game to date, i still remmeber when everybody was saying 13 was the eastiest, but 16 goes the extra mile making everythim relatively easy with occassional jumps of difficulty. At least with 13 there was health issues, honestly I wonder why the game suddenly became as such. Though i shouldn't complain but even as a normal player it's weirdly easy
I know this is an older video but this helped me quite a bit. I'm also glad you said "The speedkill on the second spell is a tiny bit luck-based" because, I would say, about 15% of the time it feels like it wants me dead.
The only thing I don't like about the extra is the lack of uniqueness in the spell cards. You could probably put half of those attacks on Hecatia and it wouldn't make a difference... But this is also my favourite theme from the game Nonspells are fine
That's debatable, apparently lore wise if Okina did the same trick of taking away your shot types, the spell would backfire and end up either severely hurting Okina for real or actually one-shoting her, like actually dying since it's outside spell card rules(if the dialogue is to be taken literally), so maybe it's intentional. Oh and if you're wondering why it didn't happen, the MC actually tells her that they're using a fifth season, since they just want a fair match with her instead of killing her.
It probably isn't intentional though. Notice how in the normal spells Okina's lifebar disappears during the duration of your release and reappears when it stops. I believe ZUN just forgot to remove that mechanic during survival cards.

i've got nothing to do so i want to make a summary about this stage. it is by far the easiest extra stage -you get shit tons of resources in this stage (if you know how to abuse releases which leads into spellcard capture = more points) -reimu is OP with the release however, it's also boring at the same time. all her nonspells are just..........the same. but with different colours.
My first time getting to the survival spell, I only saw the beginning of it because of the glitch where she becomes vulnerable if you bomb/release, but with the way the laser was moving I thought the rest of the spell had to be really cool. It wasn't.
Is it me or is this extra stage easier than other extra stages ? I just finished Legacy in Lunatic Kingdom in normal (haven't beat the extra stage yet) and yet I find this stage easier than Clownpiece's stage lmao
Honestly I think it's designed that way, unlike other extra stages which tend to be bosses in some way related to the story, this is a direct continuation from stage 6. It could even be called stage 7.
I didn't like this game actually, found it was more difficult than previous games to differentiate bullets and targets. Goes through points of inconsistent difficulty... Very hard then very easy... That said you did awesome

Wut, yo siento que el 14 y 15 tienen un buen OST, el 16 los temas de la primera mitad del juego son por lo general regulares mientras los de la otra mitad generalmente están a la altura de los anteriores, aunque eso sí, siento que el 16 no impactó mucho en comparación con los anteriores, además de que ZUN le puso a ese OST el toque que tenía Ten Desires, al cual muchos no les agradó la banda sonora de ese juego y fue bastante infame en su salida, de forma similar que con el 10, aunque este último técnicamente es un desastre aunque tenga uno de los mejores OSTs de la serie, a la altura del 7 y 8 digo yo, y el aspecto visual más colorido, que aparentemente ZUN quiso replicar con el 14 pero no le salió muy bien. A partir del Touhou 14.3 ZUN empezó a cambiar a un estilo musical más "digitalizado" por así decirlo.
Vaya estupidez lo que dijiste, si hay juegos con buenas musicas aun, el 18 tiene bastantes que son buenas, y hasta hay jefes creativos Me gustan mas los modernos que los antiguos honestamente

I tried this stage using marisa. It's not easy definitely (i die too often) and most of the time i run out of time defeating her on some spellcard
