- House Republicans’ high-stakes gamble to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas just barely failed on Tuesday, an embarrassing political setback for an already embattled majority.
The articles of impeachment against the Homeland Security secretary failed in an 214-216 vote, after four Republicans sided with Democrats to oppose recommending Mayorkas be booted from office. But Republican lawmakers quickly predicted they will bring it back up once Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who is undergoing treatment for blood cancer, returns.
The count was initially tied after Reps. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) and Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) voted with Democrats against impeaching Mayorkas.
Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah), the vice chair of the conference, flipped his vote to “no” - a procedural step that will let Republicans revive the impeachment articles, which some indicated could happen next week if Scalise returns. Johnson's spokesman, Raj Shah, said in a post on X that the GOP "fully intends" to bring them back up "when we have the votes for passage."

Considering these same Republicans are blocking a border security deal that was endorsed by a border police union. That tells me that the border is nothing more than a talking point for Republicans.

The GOP in the house could come up with their own immigration bill. There's no need for this charade and calling Joe Biden for not doing enough for the border. If they really care about this country, they would have done their job in the house to pass the immigration bill or come up with a new one. When Trump was president, he couldn't fully stop illegal immigration. As we all saw but Republican do not want to talk about that.

I'm starting to think that a RINO is a republican who supports law enforcement, wants to defend our allies overseas, accepts our democratic process and its electoral results, has some degree of knowledge regarding foreign policy, doesn't defend those who support the overthrow of our government, doesn't call people who ransack the capitol building patriots and tourists, and doesn't have to lie about almost every issue under the sun to gain support from their constituents, and is not grossly hypocritical about the impeachment process and under what circumstances it should be used.
