    Idk how else Kirk could have made a better solo, sounded like a well thought out solo to me. Than again, Kirk probably put this together and said, good enough? He's so damn good that he might have played a couple diff types and James said, dammit just pick one! Freakin musical geniuses.

    0:47 is wrong, the pattern goes 0-5-8 then 0-5-7 then 0-4-7

    the lick between 0:40 - 0:46 is actually very easy. just tremolo the shit out of the string and hit random notes. kirk uses it alot ( to much in my opinion) but rhandy rhodes uses it in mr.crowley solo and also gary more in some live versions of parisienne walkways. no bashing kirk here, i think he is great, i´m just sayin.

  • @m4cest
    @m4cest 13 лет назад +1

    I believe at 0:40 kirk starts playing random notes, but if they are not random, then it has to be a chromatic scalelike ShaneHeseltine says, cause it is definately not a minor scale! Listen to the semitones in between!

    it quite an easy solo to play, but in this video it sounds amazing

  • @Zoheba
    @Zoheba 14 лет назад

    To be honest..this sounded better than the original! eps the part 0:42 to 0:47. But yeah I agree its slower in speed. Just need to increase speed to match the original.

  • @01warmus
    @01warmus 13 лет назад

    @nomorelies86 I am sorry but u couldnt be more wrong. Kirk uses the natural minor scale in his run here, and I dunno which part of Mr Crowley ur reffering too, but to say that Randy RHOADS used smth random in his playing is absolutely absurd. His guitar teachers had no more theory (classical or any other) to teach him by age of 14, he was 100% dedicated to study of music and its components, and to think that he would play smth random and try to hide it is stupid, shows how little u know :)

  • @BlahBlahEffingBlah
    @BlahBlahEffingBlah 13 лет назад

    Now, if you were to really play like Kirk live your bends would all have to be 1/4 step sharp, your vibrato would have to sound like you have Parkinsons disease, and you'd be obligated to use a wah excessively where it's not in the recording.

  • @StrangeNipples
    @StrangeNipples 12 лет назад

    @Strezamandog of course its slower. hes not making a cover of the song, hes showing people how to play it. at full speed many guitarists would miss key parts because they cant keep up with all the movements

  • @jedimastergarcia87
    @jedimastergarcia87 14 лет назад

    nice playing but does anyone have the first half of the solo? Its like:
    9 999p10 and so on. I like that part of the solo.

  • @sssteve72
    @sssteve72 12 лет назад

    I love the, "stupid solo" or "it's simple", or "proof that kirk sucks" type comments. Reality check... in the end none those appear to affect Metallica album sales or concert ticket sales... etc...

    @varan9595 well, if you bought a schecter, it means clearly an ESP was out of your price range since ESP guitars are quite a bit more expensive than schecters. Unless you meant an LTD.

  • @gapsinteeth123

    At the section starting at 0:48 he is playing it slightly wrong, he needs to shift his little finger down a semi tone and not move his index finger on the second phrase

  • @manuelgrullon
    @manuelgrullon 12 лет назад

    Steve Vai's tone doesn't even compare to Kirk's tone, plus there're many more guitarist that are so much better and Steve Vai, his sound is kind of gay.

  • @SnugglesTheSnuggle
    @SnugglesTheSnuggle 13 лет назад

    @NcgDodo He's one of the laziest guitarists around. He only comes up with the solos, the riffs that actually MADE Metallica are all James Hetfield

    @sexyibanez14 That's the only part I actually know as of now haha. Start off playing it slow and get comfortable with the motion, and keep your hand loose like ttunna said. Slowly pick the speed up a bit and you get used to it. It's really hard for just being a simple hammer-on part, but it eventually came naturally for me

  • @Cheximus
    @Cheximus 12 лет назад

    @sssteve72
    lol. What sort of argument is that? So they have large album sales. That means nothing when it comes to talking about Kirk's solos. There isn't one solo on DM that is worth listening to imo. This is one of the worst. The guy showing the solo here does a really good job though.

    Correct. This is why I never trust tab books (although the official Death Magnetic tab has this correctly)--they are just about always wrong in some aspect. E.g. I've seen an F# octave played as 9 on the A string and 2 on the E string. Absurd.

  • @Schecter311
    @Schecter311 13 лет назад

    @SitotiKurton If it sounds correct and it works for the individual playing it, that's all that matters. The notes do count yes, but there is generally more than one way to play the same lick, phrase, or riff.
