- China's President Xi held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris. Macron asked him to accept fair global trade rules. In an earlier meeting, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen called on Xi to use Beijing's influence to halt Russian's war in Ukraine.

Overcapacity was first said by Janet Yellen, and EU followed suit. Dual used materials was first said by Anthony Blinken, and EU followed suit. So why can't EU make their own decision independently without Uncle Sam.??

Chinese overcapacity was said first by economists, notably Michael Pettis. This is an affair that really exists and it is supported by scientific literature.
He's wrong when the capacity of lifetime Chinese ownership per total EVs production is proven to be the lowest amongst G7 countries. Europe can reserve a quota for Chinese EVs and let market demand vs supply to set out the fair price. Problem solved.

Overcapacity is the result of heavy government subsidization up and down key industrial supply chains. This is the real problem - China is nowhere near being a free market economy for goods the CPP deems strategic.

We're scared for we haven't been visionary and competitive and our goods are overpriced and people is choosing what's better for their pockets. "Overcapacity" is a a sad statement to say you're not competitive anymore and so on...
