    Man what I would give to go back in time to see pat play some shitty little house party with 30 people singing along. At least we have the videos but I can only imagine what it felt like to actually witness this in person. My favorite pat video is him at some house in Alabama with like 10 people there lmao I think he will end up being a “velvet underground” type of artist meaning not many people knew his work when he was actually still performing but the people that did hear it were so inspired they went out and started their own bands. Tons of great new bands already list pat as an influence and it’s easy to see why. Not many people can make simple four chord songs so damn emotional. I know he doesn’t believe in the things he used to sing about anymore but I’m so happy he left his amazing songs behind for those of us who still believe and even if you don’t they are just good fucking songs. Much love everyone 💙

    • @cosmic_voyager
      @cosmic_voyager Год назад +3

      The videos are great, but being there was absolutely incredible. I was lucky enough to see him perform outside in a park in Albuquerque, NM, only to come to my place for an after-party and have him perform 5 more songs in my kitchen with only 10-15 people in there to witness it. Pat is an amazing person, and I have some great memories from these days.

      that's awesome. And course as people familiar with his work know he also got clean. i only say this because there are definitely people who only know of Johnny Hobo and have no idea how much more music Pat created and the story of his life told through lyrics.

    • @cjtherou4427
      @cjtherou4427 2 года назад +8

      @@Zero-pe3iq thats why pat will always be my favorite, I haven't heard a song of pats that i don't like, its his life story that i find so interesting, I'd love it if he wrote an autobiography but i really doubt he ever would, he's too humble.
      He's honestly my role model for getting clean, i know he is for a lot of people but there's a reason for that. Relating so fucking hard to the desperation of addiction, apathy, not caring about dying, i always wanted to die young too, long before i found a kindred spirit in Pat's music. Thats where i am now and i have been since i was a cringey 15 y/o. Well i wasn't an addict til 16 but i struggled with apathy and a desire to die before i graduated high school. But regardless I've wanted to die so fucking bad the last 4 days, i was withdrawing and it was the worst ive ever felt having gone through withdraw many times before, i got a guy to front me shit and there was no relief, it made me worse and i wound up going to the hospital where i found out it was laced with speed so i had already been withdrawing for 4 days (from methadone) and i hadn't slept, ate, drank for over 48 hour, i just laid in bed writhing in pain, waiting for my guy to come through just so i could sleep a little bit and maybe be able to eat something but the fucker gave me speed laced heroin so there was no way i was gonna be sleeping, i just convulsed and dry heaved and had the sensation of burning diarrhea with nothing coming out and thus never feeling relief and thats when i wanted to kill myself most, just for relief, the sweet release of death is so alluring when you're entire body is fucking writhing in pain, its in those moments i think of how pat sang about hearing a fellow addict from a dozen states away shivering through another dope sick morning with no money left and nothing else to steal and that what feels like a never ending cycle of self inflected torture is actually just a really long cycle that does eventually have an end but not before i learn to stop hating myself, the only thing i want to do with my life is be an activist for the things i care about because everybody changes the world at least a little bit and I'd like to change it in a positive way, i have a long road to go and i dont know if I'll make it, i might just be a statistic in another 5, 10 years when another addict is reading this and it'll be the greatest impact i made in my life, is that good enough? It doesn't fucking matter.
      I take things on a day to day basis and my days vary as much as the tone of this long ass rambling comment from a mentally ill addict, some days are hopeful, some are hopeless, some are pure fucking agony, what i imagine hell to feel like except im actually willing to gamble that hell is better. Did i mention i still havent slept? So its actually been like 60 hours with no sleep but the hospital gave me meth so i feel normal just very tired and very dazed, i lost my voice screaming along to pat songs, and i cant help but think about the next time I'm going to withdraw and how bad it will be, the hospital i went to had an addiction/substance abuse disorder department and i just told her everything that i feel because its so bottled up and jumbled up thaf it comes out in youtube comments that i know for a fact have no point despite the fact i began writing this fully intending to have a positive message of hope, but we all know not everyone gets to be clean, many of us will die whether it be overdose or suicide, if im lucky ill die doing what i love, heroin, if im unlucky ill die because i was driven to suicide by some fucked up circumstances i put myself in like accidentally snorting speed thinking its heroin. I have no message i dont know why i even started writing but I'll post it still because while whatever inspirational bullshit i began this post with is completely lost on me at this point and so i think my post illustrates the insanity of an addict, maybe that'll be valuable to someone.
      I also thought doing heroin would be easy as pissing, it was for a while, like all the other drugs i did, until it wasn't. I still don't regret it though, if i do make it through I'll be better for having gone through it, if i don't well I'll be dead so it doesn't matter what i think at that point. I wish anyone who read this all the best because if you actually read all my bullshit you MUST be at least half as crazy as me.
