Barn owls specifically have been viewed as bad omens and bringers of death in many different cultures. Even where my family is from in Mexico there are stories of barn owls being witches. Super interesting stuff !
Where there are barn owls there are mice/rats. The true culprit was never blamed. Just like women were called witches for not getting the plague because they had cats who ate the mice that carried the plague lol

Personally the deamon/dany thing I don’t see, they don’t really parallel each other (to me) but I kind of feel like Alys is trying to manipulate him, maybe attempting to get pregnant with deamon to produce a dragon blood baby with her possible greenseer blood? but is ultimately unsuccessful with him and then moves onto Aemon who is more vulnerable to her charms 😉 she wants or is working toward the bringing of a mix of blood of the dragon/greenseer to access the weirwood net but it’s not until years later when a Targaryen with first man blood (bryndon rivers) that the process works. I think whatever she is giving him or doing to him (through the weirwood magic) is to try and control him, he is certainly looking more vulnerable the longer he is there. She also definitely made the last maester run off 😂 probably to gain access to the whole castle without questions of her purpose.

Just look at Daemon in his light lilac nightie and dark purple Schlafrock (dressing gown, I think) chasing faux-Aemond (AemonDaemon) with his Dark Sister around Harrenhall... and tell me he's not a fearless king material (also, cute). So, talking of Blodeuwedd story, and the way to kill the king(?) she doesn't like - I wonder how well-known that text is, is it more Welsh or Norse (or blending of the two?) as we've heard something similar in a TV show before: Vikings, season 1. Ragnar Lothbrok goes to see famous ash, "perhaps Yggdrasil", tree, and on their way to see the tree, there is a princess-witch (Auslag) bathing and some "misunderstanding" occurs between her, her guards and Ragnar's men who were supposed to fish, but saw her and took the opportunity for a bit of staring at naked lady, so Ragnar had to apologise on their behalf. He agrees, but only if Auslag joins them (as a test): " _Neither dressed, nor undressed / Neither hungry nor full, / neither in company nor alone_ ." (She comes *wrapped in a net* , with a dog on a leash, nibbling an apple. And then they go to see the ash tree, that people think is Yggdrasil, where and during that time some magic stuff happens. (BTW, if GRRM didn't get idea for Weirwood trees and network from Yggdrasil, I'm Elena of Montenegro, Queen of Italy! But that's a topic for another time.). I just wonder how well-known is the Blodeuwedd story, or, alternatively how common are those "neither/nor" tricky situations in Welsh, English (folk) literature... if anyone knows.
Very interesting. Weirwood paste cannibalism. Owl skinchanger. I see a parelell between Bran and Daenerys. Bran first gets acorn paste to get used to the taste. Dany has to practise shewing dried horse meat before she has to eat the horse heart in the magic ritual. Bran get the strange "pig" meat from Coldhands, that is probably human flesh from the Night's Watch muteneers he just killed. He then get the Weirwood (and probably Jojen) paste. Dany gets the Shade of the Evening drink that gives her magic visions.

I just have to say that Alice Rivers could be a descendant of the extinct House Mud. The Oldstones connection is cool. I just can't make her primary purple color work in a sigil... unless it's used a royal color? They were great kings before the andals came.
