Perhaps Micah is a summary of the whole Gospel: God shows us what He wants from us-not legalism from a hard heart, but “doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God” (Micah 6:8). But the Gospel isn’t an instruction manual; God Himself lives this out: “You trample our sins under Your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean, showing faithfulness and unfailing love” (Micah 7:19-20). And then He literally embodies this justice and mercy by sending His son from Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), Who will “teach us His ways, so we can walk in His paths” (Micah 4:2). He will gather those whom He has filled with grief (Micah 4:6) and bring us into peaceful pastures (Micah 7:14). He is our just, righteous, merciful, and compassionate Shepherd.

I was reading these scriptures and had a moment where my mind trailed off and i started thinking of something else and in the thought I was having I was getting a tattoo (I don't have any tattoos so that is funny to me} and the tattoo I was getting was Do justly, Love Mercy, walk Humbly with your GOD. Then i came back out of the thought to keep on reading and not to much later did I read that exact scripture in todays reading. I know this scripture but had no idea it was in Micah. I love walking with God!!! He is so alive and active in all that we are doing! Even every sidetracked day dream!

There is so much sadness, darkness, lawlessness, and wickedness around us today. But knowing that the Lord will bring His intended end is what brings comfort to my heart and allows me to remain in hope. Just as Micah forewarned Israel and Judah of their impending destruction, the time will come that God is going to bring His judgements on every nation that has not followed Him. In the meantime, we as believers are charged to live lives that glorify God. We are to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8). And as we live for the Lord in this dark world, we can look forward to His return as it speaks of in Micah 7. We await with anticipation the salvation God will bring to the whole world. There is certainly no one like Yahweh, who abounds in steadfast love.

Jesus, the promised ruler from Bethlehem (Micah 1-7), is our Shepherd (v4) and peace (v5). In the midst of a current family storm, I have His peace and others have noticed and questioned how I could be so calm. He is the reason.
God has compassion on us again and again and pardons our sin (Micah 7:19). I am so grateful for His compassion and forgiveness.

My God shot today comes from Micah 6:8 (NIV), “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Here Micah sums up what Amos, Hosea and Isaiah have already told God’s people about how He wants them to live. God could not be more clear!

That’s the dew that we bring to the world, the showers on the grass. “Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which delay not for a man nor wait for the children of man.” Micah‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In Micah 1:10-15, God displays His poetic justice, with the names of specific cities getting exactly the opposite of what they’re named for. The Lord sees in detail our sins, and works out a specific plan of restoration.

The book of Micah seems like a summary of the whole Bible. The stories of God's people receiving blessings and instruction on how to live, them wanting to follow God, but falling short and getting distracted with women, wealth and prosperity. God's people loose sight of Him over and over. They seek false god's, they ask for human kings to rule them because they want what the nations around them have. God has to punish them for their greed, selfish acts and sins. But God promised to save a remnant. God's ultimate message is for people to be loyal to Him, show mercy and love for those who are suffering. He gives us Jesus as our salvation.
‭"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
    Micah 6:8 NIV‬
God wants our hearts. He wants us to love our fellow man with mercy just as He does. God is clear in His directions. God keep my path narrow and straight. Let me always follow You.

We may fall, but God will raise us up (7:8), and while we understand that our sin leads to discipline, Jesus pleads our case and we are made righteous through His blood. Our God pardons our iniquities, He delights in steadfast love and has compassion on us (7:18-19). Who indeed, is a God like you? I loved Micah 7, there is so much hope within those words.

    Day 195
Micah is a prophet at the time of Isaiah. Both prophets were speaking the same message at the same time.
Isaiah‘s message was towards the ruling authorities. Micah’s message is towards the people.
God saw to it that everyone would hear His message. God is going to take action against their sins. One of the first things that happens is God takes down their high places. Finally!
When God sends this destruction, He tells the people they are to grieve in private. God does not want the enemy nations rejoicing.
They have been stealing the land from the poor and oppressing the people.
Greed may start out small, but it grows very quickly.
God is a defender of the poor and His own righteous standards.
Chapter 3- the rulers, priests and prophets are all wicked.
The leaders in the land hate what is good and love evil.
( yikes that sounds familiar here )
The leaders and people think that judgment will never happen to them. That they are too powerful.
They lean on the Lord and say no disaster shall come up on them. All the while they are being wicked and deceiving themselves.
They are arrogant and in denial.
They will not escape destruction. Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins.
They will go into exile in Babylon.
This is exactly what happens. It is a historical fact.
    But God is so powerful
    A remnant will be preserved!
Jesus, the shepherd king will be born in Bethlehem for us.
The faithful remnant of Jacob will be dispersed among the people to live in many nations.
This has happened. This is why we have the good news of Jesus today.
They took the gospel of the resurrected Jesus all over the world.
History has recorded and verified these prophecies.
God is after the people’s hearts.
Micah says I will look to the Lord. I will wait on Him. My God shall hear me.
5:4-5 God’s greatness makes us secure.
When He increases and decrease that is where I find my greatest peace.
    God is my peace.

Reading these passages makes me think of how much of this wickedness and greed is being repeated in our age. Are there more Micahs and Isaiahs among us? Who are the remnant of today?
Other than that, I enjoyed reading about God's merciful nature and how He won't be angry forever.

    Verses Worth Meditating On:
    ‭‭Micah‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[2] But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
    ‭‭Micah‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[9] Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
    ‭‭Micah‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[8] He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
    ‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:7‭-‬8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[7] Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. [8] Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
    ‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:19‭-‬20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[19] He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. [20] You will give truth to Jacob And mercy to Abraham, Which You have sworn to our fathers From days of old.
    He's Where The Joy Is

I’m curious to know why we can apply Micah 7:7 to ourselves “But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me” when at her conference last year she said you couldn’t apply Jeremiah 29:11- 13 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” the same way because it was written for a specific people at a specific time. I don’t see a difference.
