    11:25 - 7% OC for a 11% performance boost. That scaling is crazy, and is a reason why I'm stoked for Zen 2. Imagine over-clocks hovering 4.5 being standard for the chip - they would be even more appealing than they are now. With that being said, it's weird you only got 3.75 GHz. TR is the second highest binned chip on the Zen core besides EPYC - I thought you would hit 3.9 at least.
    Oh, and last thing: The cinematography is as beautiful as ever. Reminds me that I can always improve. Keep it up guys :)

    Being a crossover build I'd probably have gone with a Vega FE graphics card instead of the 1080ti, the price isn't that much higher but the performance is much higher in professional workloads. Not to mention that due to the lack of licensed drivers for the 1080ti there's a lot of workloads that simply can't be gpu accelerated with a consumer grade card.

  • @mikehenkelman2111

    I liked this build so much that I finally pulled the trigger and built literally this exact build, but the case is black (they were out of the white) and I went with an EVGA 1080ti Hybrid SC2 and 32 gigs of 3200mhz DDR4 Trident Ram. This build is just sick, and the Corsair 540 really makes it feel like more of a workstation. Ill add more ram in the future for sure. Thanks for giving me a great template to work from guys, great job.

    I think the most important video that is required is what liquid cooler works the best for x399 platform. The reason being threadripper4 is a bigger socket than the most of other sockets for which the AIO water cooling kits are designed. Probably the current AIO options may not work properly for threadripper build. Thanks and appreciate your video.

    I built my Ryzen 5 system in the Air 540. Great case. I agree that they need to make a tempered glass version. I modded my side panel and ordered a piece of tempered glass the size I needed and got it set in with RTV Sealant and magnets.

    WOW !!!! I could feel your passion and intensity in this "monster build". Also I want to tell you that your video is a "masterpiece" of "presentation" to get us viewers super duper excited . Yay! The use of colors in the montage was an artistic masterpiece and the sloooooow pan really had a powerful impact. I have watched most of your videos but this one was Oscar material. You nailed it my friend. I was blown away by how the colors of the case and components plus accent lighting really came out perfecto mondo ! Congrats and keep up the GREAT work :-) PS. I would request as much video editing data and testing to help us video editors to see how it can help us...especially with 4K files in both Premiere Pro, After Effects, and even Photoshop for editing a BIG wedding shoot for example. I had a wedding where my rich client wanted 60 cameras and camcorders shooting his daughter's wedding. Only wish I had this rig to help with the editing back then !!!! :-) :-)

    I put my Ryzen into a Thermaltake Tower 900 and put a custom loop with a 480mm SR2 radiator for the GPU and CPU. Bit over the top but the GPU rests at 20C at idle and 45C under full loads. After a few hours I saw it reach 47 once. My 1700X rests at 30C at idle and after an hour of stress pushed 60C (3.95Ghz at 1.375V). The next project is to run a HVAC hose fromt he AC vent above to inside the PC case to drop temperatures even further.

  • @MrEliwankenobi

    Surely your OC limit is due to cooling. Once you get a proper cooler for socket TR4, you'll have better OC results. As an example, there TimmyJoe who using the Noctua NH-U14s TR4 was able to get it to 4ghz. All because of better coverage with the coldplate

  • @YonnyMestampo
    @YonnyMestampo 7 лет назад +5

    10:30 The AIO you use isn't enough for this CPU. I also have an Asetek AIO and its just varely doing its job at 1.3V and 4Ghz but this Threadripper requires a cooler specifically designed for it. The Asetek pumps designed for small chips are not going to let you overclock.

    • @saltyman37
      @saltyman37 7 лет назад +1

      YonnyMestampo
      Exactly, custom watercooling it is. EKWB has a block that covers the whole IHS. These Asetek AIOs barly cover the dies and have much too little TIM, so that you have to use your own.

    • @Qyngali
      @Qyngali 6 лет назад

      The EK block is actually not that much better, while the coldplate covers the whole CPU, the microfins inside is about the same size as the Aseteks... Got check out hardocp for details.

      Yeah... Premiere this, Premiere that... It seems that's the only tool for "content creation" available. A simple smoke effect on a 4k video would be a great bechmark. And (from my pont of view) a few seconds on a RAM preview are much more important than a few minutes on video rendering/encoding.

    Im most interested in rendering on the thread ripper. Especially the Ryzen 1800 vs Threadripper. I would love to see you do an in depth benchmark video for apps like Premiere pro ( actually showing the editing process and final render), handbrake encoding a movie and also h.265 render which is insanely slow in my i7 4770k, and blender which GPU acceleration doesn't help much on.

And thank you also, I myself am just bout finishing my dream machine and also went with the Asus 1080ti's. Almost everything on my end is identical except for the final puzzle the MB.I am seeing a lot of negative reviews on the Zenith extreme and I am highly concerned for this. Apparently from most people who have overclocked the 1950x 3.8Ghz is around the max considering that beyond it just requires too much voltage to be efficiently cooled by normal means. But do you really need more then the base frequencies on 32 threads.

  • @Optive
    @Optive 7 лет назад +1

    I'd be interested to see a streaming PC setup, you could allocate 4 cores to your game and then let the other 12 cores do x264 encoding, what is the quality like? and what encoding preset can you use?. Is it worth the money to buy two specialized PC's and use a two pc setup for streaming instead? One with a very fast clock speed (probably an intel cpu) running the game at the highest frame rate, then use the OBS NDI plugin to allow the threadripper streaming PC to dedicate 90% of it's CPU to encoding the stream at the highest quality possible.

    • @OmegaDerrick
      @OmegaDerrick 7 лет назад +2

      Optivex one pc with 16 cores would be more user friendly i would say than 2 pc setup for streaming. N more money to invest in. Capture card, and then you have the nightmare of running sound and feeding video to stream machine at 60fps but playing your game at over 60fps which theres a way to get around that. I have 2 pc setup for my streams and i regret not waiting for amd thread ripper haha n went with 2 intel 7700k. Stream pc at oc 5ghz and im running obs in 720p 60fps, Slow cpu preset, 3600bitrate. N it looks pretty well. For that bitrate. Would the extra core you can push cpu preset all d way down to very slow with no problem. Having a higher clock would benefit more for the game. So its a hard decision. More cores, one pc, better quality on obs stream, less beneficial for game or 2 pc, less quality on obs stream(but still good), higher clock speed benefit game more. Hard choice. Hehe

    • @file1man
      @file1man 7 лет назад +2

      OmegaDerrick So far almost everyone uses a 2 PC set up for streaming gaming w obs. Obs also seems way slow to take advantage of new technologies. Look at h265 vs h264 obs recording

    • @OmegaDerrick
      @OmegaDerrick 7 лет назад +1

      file1man for sure man. I personally use OBS with my dual pc setup for streaming on twitch. The only issue you'll have with dual pc streaming is audio setup and getting obs on gaming build to output true 60fps feed to your stream capture card. I personally own a home studio so the audio part was a breeze for me. The obs part i found a way to get the 60fps feed to capture card. I have seen no1 on youtube addressing that issue with Obs and a fix. Maybe i should do a video on it🤔 ha!

    How about running a game server, playing on it with friends while streaming and also exporting an video at 4k? Maybe also add some chrome tab, an Antivirus check and some kind of backup to a NAS. This, just a little bit lighter in general is currently pushing me away form my I7 towards a Ryzen 7.

    • @TheDinotz
      @TheDinotz 7 лет назад +1

      felentus Ryzen and in general the Zen architecture is excellent for multitasking and beats out of the water the i9 and i7 in that aspect. So streaming games and hosting servers at the same time is right up its alley.

    I think a good upgrade would be to swap that NZXT craken for a EKWB predator "AIO", that way you could swap the intel waterblock for the AMD threaripper waterblock and have a AIO specialy designed for X399

    • @file1man

I'm a CG generalist at the moment if that helps with the need for 128Gb's of ram....and this is my second personal build...I need things perfect or damn near in my rig to generate an income. Appreciate your videos

    Why not getting water cooling to the video card? When the 3 fans are spinning they should be quite noisy?

    why not 128 GB ram? one of the big advantages of the TR4 platform over the rest of the Ryzen lineup is higher ram capacity

    It would be awesome is you could test something like ABAQUS or ANSYS FEA analysis (10m DOF+)... I do realize that those programs are expensive as hell, but that would be cool to see the impact of 16 cores on a (kind of) mainstream processor in those applications compared to a much more usual 7700k.

    Hi there! :D I wish you could do a Photoshop test :D
    What I'm thinking is that you could create a Photoshop Action with the following settings:
    - Image Size increase to 40 inches in width
    - Increase Image dpi to 300
    - Add Filter> Sharpen > Unsharp Mask (Amount 100%, Radius 2.5 Pixels)
    - Then in Filter Gallery >Artistic> Cutout (No.of Levels: 8, Edge Simplicity: 0, Edge Fidelity: 3) then press ok
    - Still in Filter Gallery > Brush Stroke> Sprayed Strokes (Stroke Length:20, Spray Radius: 16) then press ok
    - Still in Filter, Blur > Radial Blur (Amount: 40, Blur Method: Spin, Quality: Best) then press ok
    - Still in Filter, Blur > Radial Blur (Amount: 40, Blur Method: Zoom, Quality: Best) then press ok
    Then Save Action.
    Then use the action on a folder with 75 HIGH RESOLUTION images.
    I would like to know how fast it can render such task while also comparing it with the other processor :D I do hope that you could do that kind of test :D

    Well You got my attention with your ficesty pair of M.2 's . And will be looking forward to the next upgrade video that you intend on bringing. I think this build is quite nice.. The Corsair Case is perfect other then the acrylic window. Which I would take to my local glass shop and have it replaced with the 1/8" laminated glass. Like I did with my Enthoo Luxe. You would love it. But keep me in the loop. I so want to build an exact build like this one. You have my blessing's.LOL :) Editing : I am commenting as I watch this video and just got to the part where you wanted a comment from us to name it. Here's one... Zen-Boa. All muscle.

    Run the craziest Minecraft custom world settings you can (mods maybe) and see how fast it can load it in and render distance load time compared to an intel cpu maybe.

    I'd like to see the FPS in games with the CPU ultilisation also just to see how much headroom there is. Maybe play games while rendering just for the lols.

    Hey... the back mesh of the power supply chamber has fan mounting slots... is this a new revision of the case? Those aren't pictured anywhere on product pages and don't exist on my case.

    Can 4 Gpu be added to this build for multiple screen work station? If so , how many 1080p screens can be powered by this build including activating the motherboard ? Please make a video about maximum number of screen power up by this monstrous machine.
