I was able to complete this yesterday on my 2006 Cadillac CTS Base. I followed the instructions to the letter and now the engine runs like new again. Thank you 1A Auto.
This video was great 👍 Very helpful. I personally did not find the need to remove the windshield wiper motor/trans. Besides that it was 100% helpful all the way down to the torque specs. I love it. Thanks!
The wiperarm on the driverside doesn't needs to be removed from the wiperarm transmission to get the assembly out. After reconnecting the battery make sure you do the initialisation of the first start which is described in the manual. Have the ignition turned on for atleast 3 minutes(without starting). Turn off the ignition. Start the engine and let it run for atleast 30 seconds.
+Al Chavez Thank you for watching. We're glad to hear you were able to save money to use on other things and you learned more about your vehicle during the replacement. 1aauto.com
I just bought a 2004 3.6l with 70k miles and wanted to tune up the car myself and was worried it would be insanely hard to work on like a BMW or Mercedes but all in all its actually pretty easy as long as you know what order to disassemble and reassemble all the plastic crap. I was very worried but so far every tutorial I've watched is pretty simple.... heck even changing the fuel pump is easy ( actually very hard lol but it has a easy work around hack when you just cut a 8in by 8in hole under back seats passenger side)
Same! Just got a 2005 3.6L with about 175k. It didn’t run at first but it just needed the radiator and battery replaced. Wanted to save some money and watched some videos to see how hard it would be to do myself. Looked super easy so I did it myself and I’ve never worked on a car in my life lol. I don’t think it needs the spark plugs replaced but I want to check them to be sure so I’m probably going to attempt this tomorrow. Any advice?
@@joshuatorrez7608 yes . I recomend you add a external transmission oil cooler ( mini radiator. I can send you links in message for size) most common problem and why cts got so much hate is because the radiator cools both regular antifreeze in the top and in a lower chamber it cools transmission fluids. Anyhow the chambers are known to burst and mix and make a milkshake sludge that ruins the transmission or the nipples from radiator that connect to transmission cooling lines breaks or hose slides off causeing you to loss all oil without any warning causeimg failure and this car does not have a transmission dipstick sadly. (All luxury cars dont have one).. please do replace the spark plugs as well. It's pretty easy and will prevent damage on the long run (knocking engine) also this car loves eating oil so make sure to check regular oil every 500 miles because it can eat anyplace from half to a full quart every 1000 miles (luxury cars once again.. my dads Mercedes eats 1 every 800 miles and it's a brand new car) it uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt and it doesn't need replacing like a regular car but it makes a little hummm at certain rpms and that's normal for cars with one of those. The chains are expensive to replace and very very hard to do so make sure your oil level stay good otherwise it will have issues.. (this was another reason people hate on cts but in reality they cant keep oil topped off and blame car.) I also recomend you switch to full synthetic because it helps with cold starts... I got more random knowledge if your interested I can message you
@@emmanueldedovets5960 I'd like to know more i just got a 04 3.6l cts base. it has a rough idle like its revving on its own. And it doesn't want to slow down when driving. What should i do?
Thanks A1 Auto, All Good got away with only removing passenger fresh air intake over battery to reach the one 13mm bolt. Careful with electrical connections and I had a little fight with seating the Intake Manifold all and all the video done the trick in getting me thru and I learned a great deal more about my car.

Hi guys, thank you very much for the video, it was very easy to follow. I have a quick question for you: in the seam between the two plastic pieces at 2:20 I have water leaking into the engine bay. The seal from the bottom piece is very worn and I am guessing that's the problem. Do you have a recommendation for a product I can use to create a new seal and stop the leak please?
Changing spark plugs on my moms 2005 CTS should I also be changing the ignition coil or are these not like spark plug wires where they should be changed when plugs are done
No need to do anything with the wipers or wipes plastic shield...simply remove the bolts holding down the manafold and couple vacuum lines n prop the front of the intake up(don't have to remove the manifold) and all the coils are exposed and ez to remove! Hope this helps.
This video was extremely informative, thanks for posting. After replacing plugs, I have reassembled all components and my windshield wipers and washer motor are dead. I have already checked all three fuses for switch, wiper, and washer and all are good. Do you have any idea what else could be causing this?
This is very helpful. Unfortunately for me I found some of my spark plugs wet with oil so now I'm changing the valve cover gaskets and that requires even more removal of parts that are in the way just to get to the bolts. Such a pain in the ass. I'm selling this car as soon as I get it fixed. I dont ever want to work on it again.

Just completed this on my 2004, unfortunately did not fix the ignition misfire that I have right now. Very good video but I hate where these spark plugs are. I probably wouldn’t have bought this car if I knew the plugs were buried so far down.
+local98kev It may be a good idea to change them at the same time if they are particularly hard to access, but if they are in good shape you can use them with the new plugs. Thank you! 1AAuto.com
Hello, I did this and accidently broke the line that goes into the nipple on the passanger side of the intake, and now it will start up, but then it dies a few seconds later. How can I fix this?
Is it advisable to reuse the original manifold gaskets? My Caddy is a 2004 model but has only 66K miles. I have Diagnostic Trouble Code P0304, misfire on cylinder 4. Which one is #4? How is the coil pack tested? On other cars I would swap the #4 and #2 coils, and see if the misfire code moved. If so, the coil was condemned. On this engine getting to the coils is so much work I don't want to do it twice! Please help!
It should be a similar procedure. The spark plugs shown in this video also fit the 3.6 . Here is a link to them if you would like to take a look at them www.1aauto.com/spark-plug-acdelco-41-990/i/aceek00035#RUclips&CTA%20Comment&

One of your video said to torque the spark plugs to 17 ft pounds and the manifold bolts to 20 ft pounds but this video says to torque spark plugs to 15 ft pounds and manifold to 17 ft pound. What is it?
that's just dumb removing the wipers!!!... no need!!!... the intake will come off with ease without removing the wiper assembly!!!.... waste of time!!...

Same reason they're firing all the US workers and taking their car manufacturing to China... because they never gave a damn about the customer.
