    Rod, I've been watching and learning from you for many years. I watch your videos new and old to brush up on my knowledge depending on the time of year and targeted species. Kitty, I've learnt from, and watched you grow as a fisher woman for around four or five years. The quality of your videos, the humor, wisdom, and chemistry in your videos are un matched, and continue to improve. Currently one of the best BC related fishing shows/series available in my opinion. Keep up the great work both of you, and thank you for the entertainment while sharing a wealth of diverse fishing wisdom.

    • @FishingwithRod

      It was surprisingly colder when we were there that week, usually it should be a bit warmer. It felt more like fall than summer. The summer in the Yukon Territory is quite short to begin with. That day it was hovering around 10C/50F most of the day, colder at the beginning of the day and quite comfortable by the time we finished (balmy 55F).

    • @FishingwithRod

I also tried Scout Lake, amazing crystal clear water, and could land a very small Kokanee, not a wild one, from the bottom with 30 gr metal jig. It takes 12 seconds to find bottom. Now it is 7 celsius degree and we enjoyed our Latte and blueberry scone at BAKED Cafe and Bakery. Best I ever tasted :) We have collected amazing memories here. You can't buy Tim Tams in the US??? Tim Tams are readily available here, at just about all the large grocery stores, but only two flavours, sometimes three are available. When I was in Melbourne last October, I brought back ten different flavours haha.... and they were half of the price of the ones here.... When the trout burped, is that because it came from so deep down? If so, are there special ways to get him back down to its depth safely, like in the ocean?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 года назад +1

      Unlike rockfish in the ocean, lake trout don’t really have the expanded air bladder, but barotrauma is indeed a concern for them too. When they burp like that, it gets all the air out and definitely helps them to get back down to the depth a lot more easily. One thing which we tried to do was to bring the fish up slowly, so they can adjust to the pressure as they come up. This definitely helps a lot.

    Hello was fishing Vedder today seen some people pull some chinooks and some coho been watching you coho videos over the next month you think my best bet in Vedder is floating roe or spoon been trying both today no luck and do mesh roe bags work and should they be big ball or small please help I wanna catch my first salmon

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 года назад +1

      The season is still early, the river is low and fish are finicky. Both methods work, one works better than the other one under certain conditions. My recommendation is to keep trying until you figure out what types of water are best for float fishing and for lure fishing. It does take awhile but once you get it, it gets a lot easier.

    Leave the big fish, eat only those just over legal size, increases the 'large fish' DNA in the species gene pool over time. Self restraining selective predators can make the prey species larger healthier and more abundant. Also, at least with ocean fish, less mercury etc in your diet.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 года назад +1

      Yukon has a slot size limit on its lake trout fisheries (as well as the pike fisheries). Specimens which are between 30 and 40 inches in length have to be released, while there is a daily limit on how many of the specimens under 30" or over 40" can be kept. While the large specimens can be kept, almost no one would do so as these are slow growing fish and the larger specimens are important for the recruitment of the populations.
