- I'm going to teach you a cheap easy trick on how to hang aquarium lights for low cost! You may even already have the supplies needed! It's super super simple. If you want to hang your aquarium light from your ceiling like this, all you need are 2 hooks, fishing line, and stainless steel fishing leaders. See where you may already have the supplies! Some aquarium lights come with hooks and wire and such to hang them, but unfortunately some don't as well. This type of material works for many led style aquarium lights. Hanging the aquarium light changes so much about the visual appearance of an aquarium. You can see the top, the light covers more surface area, and it looks so NICE!!! Hope you learned a quick tip today! Thanks for watching!

Cool video like diy tips. I use fishing line and weights to hold down drift wood occasionally
Make a vid about it bro! Also thank you!
Beautiful tank, great DIY idea!

Tanks filling in nicely
Definitely! It’s time to trim the old growth already to start the fresh stuff
I finished, 0:34 element i cant find, I used Nylon Cable Tie / Zip Tie instead. Result super and look modern better than expensive systems )
Awesome! Glad it worked. You must be talking about the metal wire I had. Glad you found a resolution! Way to be creative!
Ein super idee
Your efforts are definitely worth the try except that monofilament doesn't have much of a "shelf life" regardless of the rated pound test. I'd be looking to find some kinda steel braided - preferably stainless.
I agree 100%. Although that light was super light and it held up fine, I did eventually grab thin stainless picture frame cable and used that for future builds
very useful video as i am looking for ways to hang my aquarium light without much additional cost! question though, is your ceiling concrete or plasterboard? can it hold up the weight of the lights? thanks!
My ceiling was ceiling tiles like back at school or in offices. So the cross rails are screwed to the ceiling support boards making them very very strong. Similar situation would be handled with plasterboard or Sheetrock ceilings
Do the lights melt the fishing wire? Surely the heat would cause it to snap?
Normally yes, but in my case, I used steel fishing leaders around the light, and attached the fishing line to that so none of the heat would touch the actual fishing line
What light are you using?
Current USA serene LED kit
whats your tank called? I'm looking for a wide tank too
It’s an Ultum Nature Systems 60s
how is this set up holding up?
The hanging lights are still doing great! The tank is doing ok. We moved a few months after this video and the water quality changed drastically in the tap water. So I’ve had to adjust by mixing in RO water to get good levels on minerals. It’s just now ending a 6 month algae attack now that I’ve finally found a balance in nutrients.
@@AquatikGuru I'm trying to figure out if this is the only solution to my light hanging problem. I'm getting a 90L and can't afford these dang pendant lights.
It works great in my opinion. I love how it makes it look like the lights floating cuz the lines hard to see.
@@AquatikGuru the issue is that my ceiling is bout... Oh I'd say... 12 feet? Lol
In that case I would make an L with 2x2 wood mount that to the back of the stand and hang the light from those.
Lmao....fr?
Fr fr…lmao
