@@JurijsJutjajevs Depending on your budget, you could make, say, a cylindrical aquarium the center focal point of a room with the lights recessed into the canopy cover, then strategically place seating, either bench type or even recliner type in the room so the aquarium can be viewed from any angle. You can even have lights on moveable arms and point them at the aquarium or away from the aquarium into the room as desired. As soon as you use the ceiling to hang lights you automatically have more working space. It all depends on how modern or minimalist or traditional you want the end look to be. I've seen smaller aquariums built into coffee tables with the lighting a simple lamp set on top. An aquarium can even become a room divider, basically serving as a see-through wall. Lighting can either be hidden or suspended from the ceiling using arms to angle the light.
If you like changing things, this is perfect solution as it only will create 2 holes in your ceiling and you remain flexible for any future builds or type of light in this spot. The rail itself is not the nicest to have visible on the ceiling, but in my opinion its worth the flexibility it offers
I was just telling a friend today about your video using the yoyo kit for suspending lights from the ceiling. This is such a clever addition to make that idea even better. Thanks for sharing the tip!
all you have to do is measure distance from back wall to middle of your aquarium, and attach the rail at this distance from the wall to the ceiling centered above your aquarium. It doesn't have to be perfectly centered, as you have room to glide the light to perfect position
I've been thinking about it - this would require 2 rails at the ceiling and 2 parallel rails gliding in them - similar setups are sometimes used in high photography studios for studio lights
It depends, the higher the light the less intense the light, but also the shape of light and tank underneath have to match, if you light is too close to water surface and output is narrow, you will have dark spots in your tank, ideally you want the light to hit entire water surface
Hi mate, can you share with me the metalic part which is attached to ceiling ? i wonder to know what you used on the ceiling ? it seems very practical ....
universal fisher anchors, 8mm wide and 50mm long, with matching size screws. The Twinstar LED is lightweight and one doesn't have to apply much force to pull it down. So nothing crazy, Same stuff I would use to attach a picture frame on the wall
How far do the cables pull out? It doesnt say on any sites I find the product and I even contacted a seller and he said he has to ask the warehouse. Will they extend over 6 feet?
Hey Jurijs, I love every video you make but I keep on thinking in one topic that most pro aquascapers don't mention, that is "how much you should charge for aquascaping" I know it's a form of art but man I'm definitely lost at this topic. I've done a few small planted tanks for friends and some other people but can't get to round up the bill properly for the job done. It will be a very interesting topic for a video in the future, and you will be helping a lot of people trying to start in this business. Thanks
I would have to dive deep into the business topic. Might do that in a future video. To give you a quick answer it depends on how much you value your own work and time and how much your potential client is willing to pay. If you do work for a rich person, that can pay literally anything, if they value your work as art. Thousands of dollars 💵 just for your work. If on the other hand your client is more on a budget and doesn’t see your work as art, but rather as a labor - you can charge whatever the overage labor rate is in your country. Hope this helps
@@JurijsJutjajevs Thank you for your response. Aquascaping it's still a very unknown subject in my country so that sure adds to all variables in the matter. Greetings and thanks again, very helpful
@@JurijsJutjajevs thanks mate :) Could you tell me about EAPLC results? When will be publishing? I don't know I'll be in Magdeburg because this global wirus...
You could, but it won’t be as good as dedicated aquarium RGB leds. If you want to give it a try, look for 5600-6500 Kelvin and 90-95 CRI rating and 20-40 lumen/liter
The issue here „was“ the power cable. It’s not centered and the weight tilts the light body. With a cable zip tie I attached the power cable to the suspension, which has solved the tilting issue 😉
Jurijs Jutjajevs Another pro tip could be : heavy duty weels under the cabinet, always handy when scaping the tank, easy acces and you don't ruin the floor

I enjoy a little DIY here and there 😉
I see a great future in this. Combining aquarium lighting and interior decor. A whole new industry. I love the look, ultra-modern.
How would you combine it with interior decor?

90% of my apartment is from ikea 🙃
"myriad of holes" - your english is excellent Jurijs!
Nice hanging aquarium light
Awesome job
That's a really great tipp, you can now also hang more small lamps without drilling thousends of holes into ceiling, well done! Cheers💚

So beautiful tip
I am actually looking for a solution more like what you took down. What are those retractable pulleys? I am finding cheap stuff. What did you use?
Great tip! Knowing me I'd end up having to have my entire roof replaced after trying to fit one of these without your advice lol

Cool hack! Thank you! Sure. I'd love to know about your new Japanese bench. It's lovely!
