its not the coldest winter in decades. As for it being the wettest, what else would you expect when sea surface tempratures are at record levels? warmer water= more evaporation= more humidity= higher rainfall
@David-bm5jr in 9 years? christ your not very bright. Ever heard of year to year variability? every decade has been warmer than the previous, meanwhile extreme temperatures around the rest of the globe have created the hotest year on record as the report quite rightly states.
we are talking about the globe here, not far away in parts of Europe that had blistering heatwaves. We had 40 Celsius a couple of years ago a temprature previously thought impossible. Crop failure due to extreme weather is on the rise, been grocery shopping recently? expensive isn't it? If we carry on as we are there will be mass starvation.
the earth will survive, complex civilization won't nor will most of the plant and animal species either. will you be going into cryogenic sleep for a few million years whilst it recovers? sounds like your already sleeping.
Valencia and LA demonstrate western countries are also ill equipped to deal with climate change amplified severe weather events. Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina and wildfires across the world have underscored our inability to deal with the consequences. Climate change and the political response are threat multipliers. We have 20 to 30 years of increasing severe weather events if we make severe emissions cuts now. If we are lucky. Our response is woefully inadequate so these disasters of this intensity will become more regular and more devastating events will wreak even more suffering.

i prefer to use the 1951-1980 climatology. using that 2024 is 1.3°C above average globally. a bit lower than the 1.62°C if one uses 1850-1900. so it's not quite GG yet but its getting close. once we start to se 1.6°C or more in the 1951-1980 average. then we can truly start to worry

That’ll be why, as of March 2024, Arctic sea ice extent reached its annual maximum, with a monthly value slightly below average, *marking the highest March extent since 2013.* It’s interesting that MSM never report this stuff. Even _if_ the planet is slightly warming (I tend to think it is, if only anecdotally in my own life), it’s hardly a ‘climate catastrophe’ that we all seem to be forced to believe in.
yet for today arctic sea ice extent is the second lowest in the satellite record, if you were such an expert and you wanted to debate in good faith why didn't you mention this?

Let's just pay more taxes to make weather gooder.😅

It’s cold outside so therefore climate change isn’t real 😂😂😂

It's true that Summer 2024 was the coldest in nine years; what's equally true, is the increasing frequency of warmer summers (UK Met Office).
