I love how Cloud says “Been a while” when he gets his set of uniform, as if he remembers he was indeed just an infantryman instead of SOLDIER
Well, I'm pretty sure some SOLDIER members started out as lowly Shinra infantrymen. Cloud most likely thinks that he was a Shinra infantryman who managed to rise up in ranks to SOLDIER 1st Class. I mean, at this point, his memories are a mix between his, Zack's, and some made-up ones based on how some of his life's events transpired through his eyes.

It was confirmed in the recent Cloud novel written by Nojima that to become a SOLDIER you have to take a bunch of tests both physical and mental and then complete the Training Camp and be an officer for a year. After that you have to take a final test to prove that you can handle the enhancements, which is probably what stopped Cloud from joining the SOLDIER program
@@aldocadeddu2465 yeah he was failed on mental strength. That’s why Sephiroth has such a strong hold over him in the Second Act (whole of Rebirth and beginning of 3rd game). He is physically a SOLDIER but one that isn’t mentally strong enough to resist the control of the Jenova cells.
The only thing that stopped him from being exactly the same as the robed men was that just seeing Tifa’s face was enough to pull him back from the brink
Jesus, he was 15 and working to try again with Zack. He was strng enough physically just not mentally correct. But, Soldier was never about strength and all about an experiment.
Imagine the officer asked where were they during practice. He might say they had a three way relationship.😂

Look forward to when Square Enix releases Play Arts Kai figures of Cloud, Tifa, & Aerith in Shinra Trooper uniforms. Because, to be honest, they all look very good. Especially, the girls. 😁😅

This scene is one of my favourites but one thing that bugs me is that you can see their eyes. I get why they did it, so we could tell Tifa and Aerith apart (I could tell who is who based off their standing animation though) but them being the only ones with their eyes showing and the design itself just makes it feel weird to see
As a current naval officer, I was trained to keep my gun pointed forward.

What I don't understand, is how absolutely no-one realizes something is suss about Cloud.....he wears the helmet too high and has his eyes exposed....his eyes that clearly glow from Mako enhancement, something that is a dead give-away for all SOLDIERS and something anyone in the military with even half a brain cell should be able to see.
Not to mention earlier running around in broad daylight with hundreds of Shinra soldiers standing around and nobody from Shinra questioning it. I know Rufus is wise to the scooby gang snooping around but you would think the rest of the Shinra military would not completely ignore the group with the huge bounty on their heads in their midst .
@@guardian08527 Oh that's explained retroactively when they reach Cosmo Canyon, they look nothing like the posters that have been issued. It's then shown later that Reeves changed them and Rufus apparently hasn't bothered double checking them since it's not high on his agenda.
