It is a Shinra weapon. Granted only all-caps SOLDIERs generally carry swords, vs regular grunts...but that may be why he was presumed to be a Captain, even w/o raank insignia?

Must be some secret SOLDIER stuff. The new president was probably expecting an assassin, so he had some black ops SOLDIERs blend in with the regular rank and file. Cloud was even on the podium when the assasin tried to take the shot.

Lol well to be fair, that was Pre-Hojo Cloud. He's clearly not the same guy he was before. Specially strength/ability wise.
Cloud shocked sephiroth to his core when he threw him into the reactor. He was 16 and that was before hojo made any experiments on him. In fact thats why Hojo makes the experiments on him. He had plenty of time to become a SOLDIER if things didn't turned the way they did. Even Zack tells him that in crisis core.

And so. Cloud escaped his random encounter with his cover intact.
In a Side quest later into the game they know you're not shinra

I like every NPC in FFVII Remake. They have such unique personality especially the NPC Shinra when they are insist to not let Cloud go out all by himself and mention family stuff.
Imagine if Yufi hadn’t screwed the deal up and maybe the President made the 7th Infantry Cloud’s to command all the time?! 😂😅 he could get used to having a band of brothers again. Imagine how useful a die hard squad of soldiers could be in a pinch.

There’s so much to uncover across all the entries. Majority hasn’t even put together yet that this is the fifth timeline lol. The first five minutes of the game gave it away clean. For example, nobody played before crisis due to it being a post smart cell phone game. And that fills in literally everything about the Turks, that otherwise you treat them as just random filler characters.
That’s probably the reason she’s not given a last name. When mostly any character of largest authority has one.

@@gilgamesh255 So if you want the long read, you know how most people (even the versed community) are so confused by the “changes” and “why the events seem so different”. If you notice, in every single installation; the minor/major events are told almost completely different.
Which if you take that and piece them together, you uncover each timeline’s initial events.
We have never actually seen the first timeline. This is the timeline in which zack killed sephiroth then threw him into the lifestream. (Wonder why we never saw that though?) (That is the only confirmed basis of what we know ending wise) (Zack and Aerith are the only constant)
In the second timeline, Sephiroth and aerith become self aware. Because they’re ancients, the lifestream acts as a commune of information. (This is what we play originally, in ff7 original). (If you pay attention in ff7 original, both Aerith and Sephiroth know exactly where to go, when to be there, how to get there, who to talk too, etc) (But how could they possibly have the entire story mapped out?)
The third timeline is disposed in advent children (This is the continuation of the “second” timeline in which we see the dystopian future and what would happen if sephiroth does die) (We get full confirmation that sephiroth cannot fully die, he is one with the lifestream, he can infinitely rebirth into any member with enough jenova cells) (This also confirms that cloud is sephiroth’s horcrux and vice versa)
The fourth timeline is disposed in crisis core original, later touched upon by the crisis core remake. (We see that Zack dies completely differently then he did originally, he leaves the sword in the cliff side, instead of giving it directly to cloud) (Instant confirmation this is a fourth timeline, because in the first; he dies fighting sephiroth by himself.) (In the second and third, cloud is directed to meet Zack by the time dilation, in which he already had received the sword from Zack) (So the buster sword is the give away that it’s the fourth timeline, gives even more hype to why the sword is so important lmao.)
The fifth timeline (Ff7 remake and rebirth thus far) (Nobody paid attention to this, sephiroth has broken free of the whisper’s ability to direct time/fate. Meaning Aerith/the lifestream can no longer deter sephiroth from his perfect ending) (And yes, Aerith knows all of this. This is exactly why the entire game she seems to play so silly, when really she’s not playing silly at all; she can’t tell the party what’s really going on or time won’t direct as it’s supposed too) (Now that Sephiroth has broken free of fate, Aerith cannot predict his next steps any longer)
The entire story is based upon an infinite repeating time loop. Which was created when Zack slayed sephiroth and threw him into the lifestream. Sephiroth became one with the lifestream, life energy itself. The jenova cells simply act as a rebirth mechanic. Which is exactly why the new games (They’re not remakes, they’re continuations even if you google it) are dubbed remake, into rebirth.
If you want the big kicker, how everybody was so confused when sephiroth said “7 seconds until the end cloud” in remake, Sephiroth was telling cloud there’s only 7 seconds until the dawn of the next timeline. The end, is metaphorical for the ending of that timeline.
So many people dispose the information for being too literal, but no he really planned this 30 years in the future. And even if he didn’t, he made the effort to continue it in that manner. Because again, even in the original ff7, none of the events added up at all. Cloud asks Aerith “Huh? How do you know that? How do you know we’re supposed to go there?” Etc. So it was never a resolute/resolved story anyhow.
We never actually finished Sephiroth in the original, he just rebirthed. The only way to kill Sephiroth is to completely remove him and all jenova cells from the lifestream/from the planet.

Even though they are technically considered the bad guys, I feel that had Yuffie not interfered, a lot of good could have been done between Cloud's people and Rufus' people.
Rufus Shinra was not his father. Basically, he was an amalgam of Marvel's Kingpin and DC's Lex Luthor. It was his city, and his word was law, armies built, supersoldiers created, but the very worst elements were kept away by his bad elements. He had his codes to live by, and he was more businessman then politician. If a cost effective way could have been found to make his city flourish without damaging the world around it, he would have been willing to listen to options, unlike his father.
All the members of Avalanche, Aerith, Red, and Cloud would have had their lives back, under a new clean slate.
If Cloud had completed his mission, which he was planning to do anyway, it would have been all he had to do... No more side missions, no time wasted during which Sephiroth could complete his plans with the meteor... he more than likely would have had the full support of the Midgar Seventh Infantry along with him on the mission, and the full resources of Shinra at his back.
I believe Rufus would have stood up to his word, not as a good guy, but, rather, because it would have been good for business, and, a deal is a deal. While not friends, the now defunct members of Avalanche would have had an in with Rufus, as allies, at the very least, to help give him alternatives to the advice given to him by Hojo and Scarlet, and the like, possibly steering Shinra away from the mistakes it made to cause future tragedies. Barret probably would have had a government position where he could be another advisor to Rufus, to counter the agreed stance of his other, more radical advisers, and possibly temper his actions.
Red would have been given protected sanctuary to try to rebuild his race.
Aerith would have her life back, possibly with recompensation for her and her mother's abuse at Hojo's hands. As a limited resource, she might have had to give blood and hair samples once a month for Shinra's scientists to study, but, otherwise, she would have been a free citizen.
Cloud seemed favored and respected by the commander, her aide, and the SOLDIER military in general, and, through the Commander, could have influenced future SOLDIER recruits to favor honorable practices, rather then their more brutal practices of the past. Possibly he could have risen to a new commander, most likely with Tifa at his side, in time, and, while having to follow Shinra's orders, he could still make certain to influence the old and new generations of soldiers for the least damage to people or property carrying them out. As long as he/they showed favorable results, Rufus probably would have allowed them to do things their way.
The second Yuffie tried to assassinate Rufus with her giant throwing star, injuring Heidegger in the process, who showed his loyalty by saving Rufus' life, a number of things happened, all at one time:
A: Rufus believed Avalanche had formed an agreement with Wutai to assassinate him.
B: Rufus could no longer know if he could ever trust any of the three of them, or anyone allied with them. He showed them his trust, and they stabbed him in the back. In this, not only was there a possability that he could have made a mistake in judgement about their character, but, once his trust was lost in their loyalty, he could no longer afford to give them a second chance.
C: Heidegger was there to witness the offer of pardon, before he was injured saving Rufus. This caused Rufus to lose face in front of his staunchest ally. From that point on, he had to maintain a show of strength by crushing Avalanche utterly.
D: The look of absolute disappointment Rufus gives them before he leaves shows he had wanted to end things peacefully, and he had misjudged their character utterly. The blood spilled by Heidegger made them another Sephiroth who had spilled his father's blood, and they needed to be taken down, just as he needed to be.
At this one, crucial moment, all hope was lost for a peaceful end to things, now, and in the future.
I too disapprove of Yuffie's actions in this scene, but it's understandable why she chose to do so, what with losing Sonon to Nero in Deepground and all that
@@HJLusio The thing most people don't understand is, Sephiroth killing Rufus' father caused such as state of fear and horror in Rufus, that that is his whole motivation for making a new age... to have absolute control, overcompensating for when he had absolutely none when his father was assassinated.
The assassination attempt on his life, seeing the blood spraying from the closest person to him in an attempt to save his life, and the fact that they were just about to give Wutai the finger with their canon as a harmless show of force, just to have a Wutai weapon be the thing that almost assassinated him, right when he was talking to three people he could only presume were involved, as a result of their being there in the first place, was the absolute worst thing that could possibly have happened.
You have to think the Whispers manipulated things to force Yuffie to be their secret weapon to force an inescapable linchpin in time to correct the timeline, and that everything that happened in her life, and to everyone she knew, to that point, was all their mechinations.
They knew who they were before so it wouldn't change

@@jinkino Yes, but he was a infantry soldier before. An Infantry Division that he work as shinra, and don't have a sword but a stick. He wasn't rank up until Zack gave the sword to Cloud during Zack is about to die. Which Cloud quit became as Shinra Soldier and He mentioned that he was a 1st class soldier. But not from Shinra but from Zack promotion to Cloud.
He remember when he was joining the Shinra Infantry Division Soldier. But now, he's quiting that job from Shinra. But he is a 1st Class Soldier by Zack himself
Zack climbed the ranks as well and most of the SOLDIERS have been given basic training since they all followed Shinra rules anyways, the only exceptions are the three Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth obviously, Zack and the rest of the 1st class are just regular grunts compared to those three so yeah they'd know what it was like being regular infantry once upon a time. Plus Cloud's memories mixed with Zack's it's not that they completely replaced with Zack's memories they're just jumbled up mess that Cloud concocted in his mind.

@@TheLaren533Reason is, he was tested on, and his clothes were soaked with Mako. So Zack stole or took some SOLDIERS clothes and put it on Cloud. He never was in SOLDIER, or had made it...

Honestly it’s the little details I like the most. At moments like 3:07, when they stand at attention, Aerith and Tifa slightly move around a bit, due to the fact they have no military experience, but Cloud who has tons, is standing almost completely still.
Commander did more things to my heart in 27 mins than Aerith has done in 27 years.
This Junon Parade is my favourite so far.
I was half expecting the commander to say something about how “the crests are to blame” or something once I heard her voice.

I kinda wanted Cloud to admit that he WAS the infiliatator, but that Yuffie acted without orders. That he was there to make a deal with Rufus before she interrupted.

With all the alternate universes going on, now I gotta believe there is a universe where Cloud ends up with the Commander because she is EXACTLY the type to keep him in line and she's still a bit of a sweet heart under that military jive.
You might think this is excessive but I started playing this game at day 1 and I am still trying.
