Zaheer is lucky he had his goons. He couldn't even hit Tenzin, he was completely outclassed. Tenzin's such a nice, peace loving dude, you forget that he is one of the strongest benders alive at that point.
@Commenter That's right! Tenzin is very good and almost take Zaheer down, but I think maybe Jinora will become better that he. I still think Korra would beat Zaheer if she had met him before, she almost did. Katara and Amon the best waterbenders by far. Toph and her kids the best earthbenders.
Katara was able to stop Hama from bending the blood in her body so I feel like Zaheer's suffocation trick wouldn't work against another airbender, especially a master.
man I've been waiting for yall to see this, the number of times yall asked for Tenzin to step up in his fights, yall finally get to see him fo real fo real
Something to remember. Zuko said that any member of the four Red Lotus members are skilled enough to beat any other bender in a 1v1 fight. He said this before he knew Zaheer had air bending. This means, that Zaheer without bending could beat any other bender in a 1v1 fight, and is also skilled enough to be the leader of the group without having bending. Now that he has air bending, and uses it to enhance his own fighting style he is even more dangerous then ever before. So for Tenzin to be able to beat him in a 1v1 fight shows how skilled Tenzin really is.
Kya literally BLASTED Ming Hua out the temple. Desna & Eska count as 2 masters in their battle with Ming Hua and couldn’t even touch her. Ming Hua had to pull out 8 water arms with her fight with Kya, & later on in the fight you see her with less water arms and Kya fighting against Ghazan. Kya definitely proved herself.
Thanks for the reaction as always guys, u know I appreciate it! Tenzin showing y’all who the real master air bender is, let’s get it. That scene of him getting his ass whooped is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the whole show, especially since he was winning when it was just 1v1. Even if tenzin doesn’t box much, he’s one of the best and most powerful characters in the show, and nobody wanted to see him get ragdolled. Long day for him
One thing to remember is Zaheer isn't really airbending per say. He is just using airbending as an extension to his non-bending martial art skills. At a base level he will always lose to Tenzin because he never actually learned airbending or is fundamentals, only how to use it to enhance what he already knows.
On a 1 vs 1 Tenzin kicked Zaheer ass Tenzin could definitely won on 3 vs 1 also, we saw him punch two of 3 and when it was about to hit the third one the snipper came, I believe that the only reason why he couldn't with the 4 vs 1 Is because one of the was a snipper that was too far Eventhough Ang never teach him Air bendin to fight, he's definitely a master
I don't think I can completely agree with you. Tenzin was owning Zaheer and I do believe in a one on one with any single one of them Tenzins got it (a little questionable with P'li though). Hell 2 vs. 1 I think he'd have a shot at winning, but as skilled as the red lotus is tenzin is not winning that fight in my opinion. I question P'li because of the specific way she needs to be disabled which Tenzin I'm not sure how he'd manage that
This attack could have been similar to what looked like the Air Nation Genocide, because not everyone there was a Gyatso or a Tenzin, fight back and trying to keep up with the firebenders and the Red Lotus, respectively.
Interesting note: seasons 3 & 4 of Korra were released online rather than on Nickelodeon’s tv channel, which I think gave them some latitude to show things they may not have been able to otherwise!! (Like the earth queen’s assassination) Thanks for your reactions as always!! :))
I see everyone here talking about tenzin and though he is awesome in this episode let not forget another character that showed a big display Kai he literally has only a few weeks of training in airbending and he could create an air sphere strong enough to keep him alive from being hit from p'li blast which is one of the most dangerous benders in the world according to zuko and he was willing to sacrifice himself so all the others could escape give him some respect I truly believe that after tenzin, jinora, ikky meelo and zaheer he is the strongest airbender at this point of time in the show
Remember how it took time to realize how good Iroh was? How surprised you were when Iroh turned out to be such a badass? Well this is where you learn Tenzin is a badass as well. Look at what he was faced with and he almost won. I also just connected with Kai's words. When Jenorra asks "What are you doing?" he says "Whatever I can." In the movie Jojo Rabbit when the kid's mother and he see people hanged by the Nazis, he asks "What did they do?" His mother answers, "Whatever they could." May be no connection, but both have such meaning and such a clear message. Do what you can no matter what.
This is an example of one of those things that you don’t have to comment because it sets a different expectation for the guys who ✨haven’t seen the show yet✨

The way i saw this, was that zaheer knew right after Tenzin turned up the heat, that he could not take a true airbending master 1 on 1. so he immediately started to hop out the fight together with Tenzin, knowing that Gazan and Ming-Hua would shortly take care of Bumi and Kya, so they could then join his fight with Tenzin, which he was clearly losing at this point. 4v1 of course Tenzin could not win and there you have it. You saying if the writers were real they would have had Zaheer taking the air out of him at the end, is also what i thought, but they just didnt want to finish his character i guess. However its nice that the camera swings away at the end, so technically you dont know if they ended Tenzin or not until the next episode.
For a pacifist, Tenzin is a surprisingly good fighter. Having been an airbender for, if I had to guess, 50+ years, and trained by a master airbender that also happened to be the Avatar certainly doesn't hurt. Zaheer is well versed in the art from an academic standpoint and unlike the majority of airbenders has no objection to the use of lethal force, but he's also only had his bending for a few weeks. Zaheer is good; well learned and naturally talented. All things considered, Tenzin had the advantage in a one-on-one, and Zaheer knew it. Which is why Zaheer was playing the classic airbender avoid-and-evade strategy until the his crew could regroup. Kya versus Ming-Hua was a contest between masters. However, Ming-Hua has an interesting advantage: Ming-Hua was born without arms. Kya would use her bending whenever there was need or if it was convenient, probably sometimes just to goof off. Ming-Hua has been waterbending almost every waking moment of her life, her bending is her hands and arms, it is how she interacts with the world. Kya likely has gone entire days without bending plenty of times in her life, just due to lack of need or desire. Ming-Hua uses her bending just to dress herself in the morning. To fix her hair. To feed herself. Think of all the little, incidental things you use your hands for in the course of a day. You don't think about it, you don't concentrate on; you just do it. That's Ming-Hua's waterbending. Bumi... Bumi is barely a novice airbender. Sure, he has potential, he is a very unorthodox thinker. But his incredibly modest bending paired with his moderate skill in hand-to-hand combat is just not enough to challenge a master earthbender, especially not one as formidable as Ghazan. Another thing to keep in mind was that Zaheer did not appear to have any intention of killing the new air nomads. As cutthroat as he can be at times, he doesn't kill unless it seems necessary to achieve his goals. He didn't kill any of the White Lotus guards at his or his teammates' prisons. Of course, as much as would have preferred to not kill his hostages, I wager he would have if he believed it would get results. Great vid, guys, looking forward to the last two of the season.
Also, the four red lotus members are the top tier of the class in terms of power and skill fighting. Zaheer: Top non bending fighter (Now has Airbending) Ghazan: Top Earth Bender (Also has the sub set: Lava Bending) Ming-Hua: Top Water Bender (Very skilled with water) P'Li:Top Fire Bender (Also has the sub set: Combustion Bending) While some other benders might be stronger, like Amon being able to use blood bending at any time. They each are on that same level of skill and power. Ming-Hua, while not having a subset like the other members and only using standard water/ice like all other water benders can do. Is very skilled because she was born without arms. So she learned to use water as an extension of herself. Similar to how Toph learned to use earth as an extension of her sight and became a top earth bender
