Its because of the delay, she hears herself later very loud and that overrides her chest voice, thats why she is off, for show she tries to stand firm but this is very friggin hard, cut her some slack, you can try this with headphones try talking while there is a delay, you will fail!
Granted "The Star-Spangled Banner" is a horrible song for a national anthem, but her drunkenness made it worse. I would have MUCH prefered Irving Berlin's "America the Beautiful" as the U.S. national anthem -- better words, better music and easier to sing.
