if there is one theme that goes through the 4 first silent hills - it is disease & sickness in some fashion. It fits that the sounds would sound sick too.
I know you’re trying to sound smart, but you wouldn’t be saying this at all without the context of the game. Thats the only reason you think they sound that way.
@@ExtraordinaryFate Personally, the little details that you pick up on once you understand the theme of the game are some of my favourite. Games where you notice an incredibly important detail in the soundtrack that you only become aware of and understand once you reach that point (cough cough Turnup Boy Commits Tax Evasion) are incredible to me.
I've always thought they've sounded like they're dying; not necessarily feverish, but like they need to give you as much information as possible before they pass on. They sound hasty and jarring because they only have a second or two before that's it, they're gone. The final sound effect is an exception to this rule but it's great because it still sounds like it's on its deathbed. It sounds pathetic, drawn out like a death rattle. And yes, sure, I only think like this because I understand now that one of the main themes is sickness, but I find that beautiful.
They represent innocence. If you looked closely at Cheryl you can see a two cat on her jumper. Plus that cat that jumps out inside the locker. They're harmless, so Cheryl.

I'd like to make a comment based off of the comment someone else made saying "This is modern art" let's start by defining what "modern" and "art" means, since for some people, something modern came out in the 90's, and for others that's outdated junk. "modern" is certainly hard to define since time is always moving, could modern be considered what's always the most recent? maybe something that came out and is still relevant during the current technological progress? Maybe it's meant to represent a morbid moment and convey those uncomfortable emotions, maybe it's a poor artist's rambling into insanity, maybe they just let their brush speak for themselves. Now let's try applying this philosophy of "art" to this video. what is it? Sillent Hills sound effects with cat pictures. Talent-wise, it's a very simple thing to put together, get some .mp3 files, some funny kitties and any editing software but that's where the beauty comes in: every single sound is matched with a cat that somehow, feels at place, they're matching, as if it was fate itself that connected them both. let's start by defining what "modern" and "art" means, since for some people, something modern came out in the 90's, and for others that's outdated junk.
"modern" is certainly hard to define since time is always moving, could modern be considered what's always the most recent? maybe something that came out and is still relevant during the current technological progress? Let's not kill ourselves trying to understand time itself and move over to art.
Art is certainly both easier and harder to define, we all certainly know of some random painting that is just a blob that for some reason sells for 900 million dollars.
I personally believe art can be broken into two parts: Emotion and Talent.
let's use a painting as an example.
a painting can be full of talent, showing extreme mastery and dedication in color theory, perspective, all that fuss, but, lack any emotion
on the other hand, a painting could be visually horrible, disgusting and unlikable, but, carry a lot of weight and emotion.
Talent-wise, it's a very simple thing to put together, get some .mp3 files, some funny kitties and any editing software
but that's where the beauty comes in: every single sound is matched with a cat that somehow, feels at place, they're matching, as if it was fate itself that connected them both.
Was the original maker of the video deeply analyzing each sound, trying to find it's perfect match? or were they simply letting the brush speak for itself?
the edit itself doesn't convey any emotions other than a "haha that's funny", but somehow every little sound has some level of emotion conveyed in a cat which would have gone unnoticed if no one stopped to analyze each of them individually
Could this video be not an art piece itself, but a self contained gallery of smaller art pieces?
that's my take on this, yes, I'm unemployed, but sometimes overanalyzing stuff is fun and relaxing.
