- Here I have made a wooden dummy out of 2" x 4" spruce. This dummy is portable and can be carried anywhere in parts. The dummy can be built with basic carpentry knowledge and tools.
3.8cm×8.6cm木方,八角形刨成圓柱,做詠春木人樁
Hi everyone, here is a link for part 2 of the portable wooden dummy: ruclips.net/video/gy5Y2jREhRA/видео.html
Could I purchase a custom wing chun from you?
Very creative! My Dad and I made a wooden dummy out of our tree we had in the front yard when we had to cut it down. Took a while and it's definitely not as portable, the thing is heavy but it was fun. The leg and arms were made out of branches, we drilled the holes and had to use a file to make it square, sanded and stained everything too
.... Well, now I know what I'm doing for Christmas break
Did it work out?
Anything joyfully built will be a lifetime of blessings.
That's beautiful. I would add one or two latches to keep the top half from separating from the bottom half, especially as the wood wears over time.
Hello, this is actually a perfect all around thing to do. This is so super Wing Chung. It's like a Jedi making their own light saber. The control level would be through the atmosphere to practice on a low impact Jong. It's not that it's not stable it's perfect to learn and master the moves! Siu Lim Tao is slow and smooth for the same reason. This would increase the rate of precision and accuracy with control of coordination much faster IMHO. I few ratchet tow straps can hold the joints and the extensions could be an inch longer. The hard wood could be substituted as can be afforded or available. Yes, I have been thinking of building one for the whole Jedi reason. I would have build more than one because you always can improve the first build.
Excellent ideas. I notice that when you strike upwards, the top half of the dummy could be displaced. Have you considered securing the two halves together with fasteners of some kind?
Excellent job! Really impressive!
Jeszcze raz dziekuje bardzo! CZESC.
Impressive. Thank you for showing your process and posting

This is awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Outstanding thank you for the inspiration.
Exelente video y muy sencillo de hacer felisidades,,, me fabricare uno
If one were to wrap tightly with rope it could probably take some serious abuse. I like this going to try and make one. Thank you! Was going to spend 600 on one pre made.
Actually after reading your comment I thought that wrapping the middle around the joint would stabilize that and keep it from separating as easily
Sir, that is super cool! Great stuff
1 week build dummy 10 years learn dummy form 👍very impressive 👏 !!!

This is great. I have always wanted to make one but have very limited carpentry skills. Which province are you from? I am in Ontario.
hi love the video! im wandering how much would/do you charge to make one for someone?
Zoʻr
This guy is really crafty in many ways ! I never seen a video like this! Well done! ♾️✅✅♾️. Typical traditional Chinese, if they can build the Great Wall of China they can build anything! Vs the American Golden Gate Bridge 🌉?!
what?
Hey started work on this and im super new to woodworking this being my second project. but im diligent and eager to continue however idk what the 8 at the top and 8 1/2 at the bottom mean. Any help would be appreciated. great build i cant wait to start! thank you for your time.
The diameter of the post should be 9",and the. 8 1/2"is the arm inside opening.
Started making this and did not end up with enough to make the 20” leg section 🤷♂️. A bit confused but no big deal. Only need 1 more 2x4 so I ended up needing 9
Not big deal,as long as it works
Great job there. But my question to you is why did you use the saws and such to cut the wood? When you clearly could have just used your hands ✋
It is because the post was made by 8 peices of 1.5×3.5 inch wood and cut 22.5 degree to glue it together as a octagonal, then plane it to be a circle post. Not accurately if cut by hand. Thanks for visiting.
It's faster 😂
✨✨✨
This is awesome, Sir! At 0:54 it looks like you have an insert in the body of the 2x4’s. Can you tell me what that is, and, or, what the internal diameter of the dummy ended up being?
Good eye! There is a metal sheet that I've rolled up and inserted into the body of the dummy. It's held up by screws that I've screwed outwards into the 2x4's from the inside. The inner diameter is 7.5"
How much to send to Switzerland??
Sorry this may be a dumb question so pardon my ignorance but is that a bench plane you're using at the one minute mark?
What angle were the 2x4’s cut on? I want to build this
22.5 °thanks for watching
Thank you
Thanks so much for answering that angle question! Asked so many people with the wrong answer! Much appreciated!

$300 in wood in my area and the wood is low quality. Should have brought the wood in 2019. Lol 😆
Thank you for sharing this video. I am curious what the angle you used on your table saw? This would be a fun project and I am going to give it a shot.
Thank you for watching ,the angle is 22.5° .8 pieces of 2×4 cut both side 22.5° .
Thanks Ray. I have built 3 with industrial PVC. I like this version.
How did you know exactly where to drill the holes for the arms and the leg?
Thanks for visiting, you need to draw a plan (top view) and figure out the hole's position. The arm opening about 8"1/2 to 9".The angle of bottom leg 115 degree.
@@RayRayHandyman Thank you sir for your response.
I WANT 2 OF THEM HOW MUCH MONEY DO I NEED TO SEND YOU BROTHER?
Thank you for visiting, this is my hobby to make hand craft out of wood. I work full time as a canbinet installer, I am not available to take any order. Anyway thank you so much.
How much coast to build one?
Under $100 USD if you have the tools
Where are you from
Canada
What angle do you cut the 2X4's ?
22.5°
Hit that shit bro
will not last 10 sec... use a hard wood
Ni hao ! You table saws have no Security or protection in case your hands get
cut man , it is so dangerous ...

Wing chun dummy is supposed to be hit, not tapped, nevertheless good job building.
Mmm U train with the dummy like it's made of paper instead of hard wood. As the traning progress, a Practicer has be a little forceful & direct as if the student or master is fighting an actual person. Being "gentle "on the dummy is being "gentle "2 child by comparison & robbs U of natural functions that will be required in a actual fight
Sorry man.....this is in so many things wrong..
First of all it needs to be adjustable in height.....to that person ....so taller person....it sets up little bit higher.....shorter guy....a little lower....
The arms and the leg need to be in one setting to be in the same height.... parallel....so that you train right and left in the same way....
The body needs to be trained equal in both sides.....the arms need to be also to be able to be set turned high and low position of the upper two arms......for different exercises...like bong position and Fook Sao position.....
Then the dummy as a whole....needs to have give in all directions side to side and back and forth......to simulate the body movement of a person when the hit impacts the body....
And the arms need to have some give by themselves....so they move a bit and give you a feedback impulse by which you react to...
Stiff arms no impulse.
At least he is trying to innovate and train not sit behind a keyboard and tell us what is "wrong". That's why WC is becoming archaic. We need to respect the heritage by moving forward with the times.
