I was there for his signing before UFC 297 and the fans absolutely loved him. Plus he became a two division champion and his rivalry with Izzy, who is more popular than Khamzat, definitely made him just as famous. Even MMA casuals know who Pereira is now. He just doesn’t have as many followers that’s all.

I would give the edge to Pereira in that fight. Chimaev is a fantastic wrestler but Pereira has world class kicking and striking skills that would make it difficult for Chimaev to close the distance and get on the inside where he excels the most.

And don’t forget khamzat fights in light weight category and alex fights in light heavyweight there is significant difference between their opponents. Light heavyweight fighters are beasts.

GSP NEVER got over 8 to 10 lbs over his Weight division. And when he started training for upcoming fights...the literal intensity of his workouts, not only burned all the excess weight off, with how hard he was working during the day, allowed him to eat in a heavy manner to keep his weight steady, and a few pounds below his weight limit. THAT'S...why he's been so hard on ALOT of guys that fight 20 or 30 lbs. below their normal weight. It reality, it's harder to get down to that weight before the fight.
Why are we even talking about a guy who can’t make weight and only fights once a year? Until he decides to be an actual fighter that actually fights actual contenders, he’s just another big mouth non-contender like Conor who likes to call everyone out with no intention of actually fighting anyone who isn’t washed up and fed to him on a silver platter.
