the way he got mad at the reporter for talking about mental health really showed that he's been running away from these issues, and the dude wasn't even trying to be rude, for most people they themselves are their worst enemy
Yea but he's there to fight and alot of people don't know the drama and news about it. Probably want to talk fight and not have people Google all the shit he's embaressed about and struggling with that's been out to public knowledge.
I'm afraid how Tony's going to unravel when he's no longer fighting, but accumulating all that CTE doesn't make things any better either. He was already "out there" even before he made a name for himself in the UFC. Imagine how he'll be in the future no longer as an MMA fighter.
@@crazypato3752easily from his time on the ultimate fighter. He got drunk and was obviously battling demons and couldn’t control his emotions he got angry then started crying
Man, the wife's call to the police is heartbreaking, you can hear that she is just sad for him, she loves him and tried so hard to help him, but she is just at her wit's end. It's not only about being afraid for herself and her kid, but also for Tony.. bless this man, hope he gets the help he deserves ❤
The gaethje fight was one of the hardest fights I’ve ever watched. Especially with no crowd and hearing those shots connect was rough. Respect the heart, a true warrior
Man, there's a lot of aspects of Tony's story that are tragic, but as a fan, the fact that we never got the Khabib fight when they were both in their absolute primes, that hurts most of all. This, and your Ngannou documentary, are your best work, Mr. Gavia. They are all awesome, but this is a cut above the rest.
This one was so much trickier. It's difficult to emphasize the impact of things that never happened, especially in documentary format. Glad you enjoyed it!
Watching this after his recent loss to Paddy drives this home even faster. Such a violent and ultimately sad arc - it's been quite a journey watching a man devolve from a champion to a cautionary tale.
And then people hate Khabib for being smart and retiring at the best possible moment in his career. I wish Ferguson took the same path but that requires to be around the right people.
Tony Ferguson is a hero to my family. My brother was sick and Tony sat on the phone with my brother for HOURS chatting with him! Then he would send food from my brother’s favorite pizzeria for his fights. He’s a true legend and will always be a champion in my eyes and the eyes of those I love.
Not only that, during fights I would call him live in hope that I too could recieve a pizza and usually he'd send me some. Our family loved him and the pizzas he would deliver, crazy times, we could talk about all our Ferguson experiences with all our families lets goooo
@sanktpierre8025 No one will ever see how Tony had amazing bartender tricks where he would somehow light a fire on the counter top and he somehow trailed it to the crotches of barstool patrons.. "El Cook Coochie" was his original nickname
The fact that fans are more sad about how his career played out than they are about the absolutely tragic state of tonys mental health says a lot. That seems so terrifying i wouldnt wish those demons on my worst enemy. Feel so bad for his family during those moments i hope tony is in a better place mentally
maybe because tony clearly cares more about the career stuff than his mental state/health. but yeah im genuinely worried for tonys life outside of the cage moving forward its really sad
What's there to be sad about??? If theres a clear issue, he should have stepped aside and worked on it. But he's choosing to take losing fights while letting his family face his own repercussions. Dude looks like more of a POS than anything.
@@aavalos7760 It's sad because he's either too delusional or/and too poor to stop fighting. THAT'S what is sad. And as far as his family facing the repercussions as well? THAT'S SAD TOO How do you not understand what there is to be sad about?
@@GamesWithBrainzwell obviously he’s mentally ill he doesn’t know what’s happening to him he thinks he’s normal and everyone else is just being annoying, he doesn’t see anything wrong with his mental state because he’s in a horrible mental state dude. It’s up to us who are mentally sane the recognize that not someone with schizophrenia
Hearing more details about Tonys backstory just makes his fall from grace that much more painful to watch. Really wish the best for him mentally, hope he's getting the help he needs.
His real downfall was actually fighting real top 5 fighters in his weight division. Ppl like to make up excuses saying he's not in his prime but they just can't handle the truth. He's also a piece of shit in real life and there is videos out their of him being one. But kiss ass peasant fanboys will be fanboys. Facts 👍
No matter what you say about Tony. He always gave 110%. Mentally and physically. A true warrior. He fought with all his heart and soul. And he gave us some of the greatest fights in the history of the sport. This guy went to bloody war every time. Always going forward in the cage, win or lose. Never backed down.
Great comment dude couldn't agree more. People who never fought in their life don't realise the demons most fighters overcome to decide to train and step into a fight in the first place.
for real... I mean I honestly think he would have beat nurmagomedov OR at least given the closest fight he ever had. Tony in his prime could beat anyone
It was criminal to let Tony fight despite all this mental health issues. So sad to see a true fighter fall. But the fans will never forget all the great fights he has brought to us. Kudos Tony Ferguson.
As someone who has been a fan of the sport for two decades, I can say that this one hurt deep. This documentary touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye. Great documentary about a fighter that we all owe a great deal to for the countless beautiful moments of entertainment that he provided us fans
Khabib... deep down inside ... really had empathy for Tony. He was so upset with for him making a terrible mistake cutting weight so drastically.... PLUS what he was going through his life... Really Heart breaking documentary 😢
In a press conference arranged by Ali he was asked by a journalist about Tony's mental illness and most of the fighters laughed at the stage while Khabib stood up for Tony and told the journalist to leave his problems alone as it is sensitive topic and if he needs help he would give hand.
Khabib reminded me of GSP, both great humble fighters who would not bad mouth people. Khabib may be a bit of a troll but he is young and still learning. He was a great fighter.
Khabib was prophetic. I felt as though the wheels really began to fall off during the Cowboy fight. I had no idea how bad it would get though. Hoping Tony retires and can find healthy outlets to avoid any further trauma to himself and his family 🙏🏽
@@aznduroyeah right lmao you're all just haters at this moment. Noone said it like khabib did. He usually predicts things soooooooo accurately and realistically , it's like something we know but don't admit but he's a guy of truth he just says it with no emotions. Truth as it is.
@@aznduro Khabib also said, immediately after the Gaethje match that Tony is "finished". What happened? 6 fight losing streak. Most people thought El Cucuy would bounce back, and it never happened. Never will, either
That's why retiring on a high note in sports is important, especially a combat sport. You can't enjoy anything if you don't take care of the only thing you truly own, your health.
How alot of people go from cheering to insulting and mocking someone after they fall is disgusting to me. I may not have been a big fan of Tony and haven't watched a lot of his fights But what happened to him is heartbreaking. After Gaethje he was never the same
As a big ufc fan I can’t help but agree with all these foreign fighters, only way I know to describe them sorry, come in with much different and much stronger beliefs and convictions. I think it’s a full fledged display of how much stronger their beliefs are. Especially as an American it sucks, like yes these guys are incredible and yes they have worked their asses off to get there as Americans, but you see them losing constantly. Despite how incredible our American reps are they lose and that’s because of much stronger convictions, it’s a representation of the country’s spirit and the US is losing unfortunately these days
Same thing with Conor he was everyone’s favorite fighter 5 years ago now everyone hates on him and wishes him the worst and anyone who says they weren’t a fan is lying through there teeth same with tony he was the boogeyman now he’s mocked over and over
I will never forget watching Tony shake his head before the stoppage. It was a real “No Mas” moment. It was horrific to watch. I hope Tony finds happiness outside of MMA.
He was shaking his head because he was probably trying to regain sight/consciousness or something. Obviously don't know for sure, but knowing Tony and just looking at the head shake it was certainly not a submissive gesture...
I trained with Tony In 09/10 he was always a class act!!! Never tried to over power us especially knowing he could hurt us if he wanted to. Hands down one of the most humblest human beings I ever met!!!!! #dont let the media try changing his narrative
Here after last night, man Justin really changed this mans career for the worst, its so sad to see him where he's at now. Tied first for the most consecutive losses in UFC history, after being on an 11 fight win streak. Please retire now Tony, we will never forget who you are.
I can't believe you're the only one to mention this. I also can't believe he has another upcoming fight. Some fighter's get cut from the roster just from one fight. I think this will be his 7th loss in a row.
@@daixer3156 Yeah, but retire to what ? UFC/Dana White pay fighters peanuts, Tony lost his physical and mental health yet earned hardly anything to show up for it, now only job he can do to pay bills is to be literal punching bag.
@AG-ig8uf stop living beyond their means. They need to learn to not live 😒 lavish and buy a decent house with their money. Not live like Mike Tyson in the movie Hungover!
tonys wife is the true example of loyalty. i dont knw if they split up later but she stood by his side after soooooooooooo much have happened. i wish her all the happiness and good health in life. shes a true gem...
I've only known him as Tony Ferguson, like you said. This documentary opened my eyes to El Cucuy. Thanks for giving me a proper rundown on this legend. Humans can be so messed up or suffer in so many different and weird ways. Our ability to empathize makes it suck even more man. Especially when there's no helping them.
the music, the tempo, the whole feeling of watching boogeyman get down piece by piece at 23:15 was so depressing (and amazing from a cinema perspective. Another great documentary Patrick. I eagerly wait for your documentaries. You're the best storyteller in mma
I remember the fight with Justin like it was yesterday. Because there was no crowd you could hear the punches like never before, it was so intense. I remember thinking „when is somebody going to stop this?“.
It’s honestly incredible. I discovered your channel as less than a casual. I literally had never watched a UFC fight live, and had barely read headlines or watched a few highlights. The absolute majesty of your storytelling has me binging every doc you’ve made, and I’m now so invested in these fighters’ stories. You are so incredibly talented and diligent. Kudos.
Welcome man. These guys have great heart and put it all on the table. Patrick's channel is one of the best. John Vincent and Motivedia channels are also awesome (boxing focused). Enjoy!
@PatrickGavia no this guy has a point fr the editing, the videos, everything was on point everything I hope I could see you make these type of videos of goats of MMA that makes people play EAUFC5 as that guy now I really wanna try Tony on UFC5
This is actually a quote in the Quran. Random but thought I will share. God will speak to those who denied he existed on the day of judgement and continued living the life how they wanted and used to argue against the existence of God ( God actually refutes all their arguments in the Quran) He will dip them in the Hell fire for a fraction of a second so they could feel the pain and he will say this is the truth which you denied. Because what argument can you bring against pain. Nothing. Its the ultimate truth.
Just last week, I lost my little brother to untreated health issues left untreated because of serious mental health problems. In the same way as Tony his genius in lucid moments was somehow tied to his insanity. I pray that Tony finds an answer or that someone helps him find a way through.
Watching the Ferguson Vs Gaethje fight is one of the hardest fights to watch, up there with masvidal Vs Covington. Just the silence of the octagon as you hear each and every hit from one of the most destructive and violent fighters in the lightweight division up was truly horrifying and I still can’t watch it without looking away or tearing up knowing what came of him afterwards
@@bendover7841 Do you know about their story? They were best friends coming up in UFC and Colby decided to betray masvidal. I think the original commenter found that heartbreaking. Those two fights are heartbreaking for different reasons so the comparison is not good enough
Didn’t know all of Tony’s back story and knowing it now hurts even more seeing him continue to fight. I know we all wanna see him come back and be El Cucuy again, but honestly after that Gaethje fight, he hasn’t been the same. Having the issues he’s had and not really confronting them head on seriously and continuing to fight will not end well. He entertained us as one of the scariest fighters ever in the UFC, and proved he’s a warrior. Time to hang it up and take care of himself and his family.
It's painful but beautiful at the same time. After the Gaethje fight I've noticed that he is not the same fighter and it breaks my heart, but a core part of what made Tony so special was his inability to give up or break and how he relished in chaos. As much as I loved watching him fight, I hope he can find peace and hang it up. Watching that Bobby Green submission where he refused to tap even when the submission was cinched in tight and he was clearly losing oxygen to the brain. It's easy to judge his flaws, but you can't argue with his toughness. It's sad to watch him break, but it's also inspiring to see the sheer will of this man. His mental strength to keep pushing even after the rest of his nervous system has already given out, I don't think I've ever seen that before. In a twisted way, I think the true beauty behind Tony's character is in him continuing to push on failure after heart wrenching failure. In his prime that was the same thing that made him so exciting to watch. His ability to find a path to victory even in the most insane circumstances that would spell defeat for any other fighter. I want him to hang it up out of concern for him, but I also realize that hanging it up goes against so much of what Tony stands for. In a way the ugly ending is a fitting and beautiful conclusion to the story of a man that has never accepted defeat.
He was never one of the best, he was an Interim gatekeeper. As soon as he faced the top tier contenders he got smashed. Facing Lee for the belt? Lol, hilarious.
Unreal the number of ads on RUclips these days. Multiple unskippable ads while watching the video, then when the video starts playing again, even MORE ads within the video itself.
I’m not sure how much you make from these videos but it’s not enough. This is some of the best produced content I’ve seen in a long time. Just the decision to show the Justin fight with very little audio dubbing, just the raw sound of those punches connecting is such a smart decision. I remember watching that fight on TV and being shocked and disgusted at the sound those punches made. Incredible stuff. Bravo, man. Tony will always be one of my favorites and his downfall is absolutely heartbreaking.
I Don't Give AF About His Loosing Streak Because In My Eyes He Will Always Be A Legend. Don't Forget That Before His Loosing Streak He Was On A 12 Fight Winning Streak & He Never Got That Well Deserved Title Fight He Earned. Long Live The Legend 🇲🇽 Tony " El Cucuy " Ferguson
@KereTista-km9ck Says who? All the NBA players that have talked about rampant coke use when they played? Just because the thought of something like that makes us think "heart attack" doesn't mean they weren't doing it. Meth would be far easier, physically, to do daily/near daily than it would be to do coke and have to eat and drink and not go as crazy as fast. But I'm glad y'all don't know, honestly.
Tony in his prime was my favorite fighter. Seeing Tony take all that damage from Gaethje broke my heart i knew he was not going to be the same fighter. I never saw him quit to strikes like that it was heartbreaking
I wanted that fight stopped in the 4th it was really hard to watch that beating, the way he tried to shake off the affects after the last combo was pretty gnarly. Made me feel bad for watching MMA for the first time in my life!
@@ModMax69 ya except a star of a snuff film doesn't go on to do it 5 more times after the first one. I honestly thought when Chandler KILLED him with that face punt that he would really be done.....Tony keeps saying he's "entering his prime" that is literally his mental illness talking. Poor guy, it's time for Christina to lay down the ultimatum....walk from the fight game or walk from the family cuz this long slow public execution is too much for your family friends and fans to continue supporting!!!! Didn't he just get a felony hit and run DUI too? Fuckin Dana white will NEVER do the right thing as long as Tony sells tickets so either his family or us fans have to do something. I won't watch Tony's next fight if he has one. I thought he could maybe grapple and sub bobby green.....he got subbed by Bobby, only the 2nd sub in Bobby's career and the first one was almost EIGHT years ago.
This was phenomenal! I just wish you would have mentioned he held the record for the longest win streak in UFC LW history before fighting Gaethje. The fight against Gaethje was the only PPV I’ve ever paid for. And it was the most devastating fight I’ve ever seen.
Listening to the part where he’s starting to lose grasp on bits of reality and then followed by a clip of him being absolutely bashed by Justin really hits hard
Being as that was with no crowd in the arena for that fight, you could hear and feel how bad he was getting beaten. I have never seen anything like that in MMA. Guy got absolutely destroyed.
@@marinewillis1202 I remember a lot of older fights in the UFC like between the early 2000's - 2015 or so. Before this new era of fighters and before it had evolved to the level it has today every couple fights you'd see these brutal slug fests where both fighters are just throwing down at 100% bloodied and beaten and taking repeated blows to the head without defending themselves. Before the new era refined their skills and understood the importance mitigating damage has on the longevity of their career. This fight reminded me a lot of those fights except it felt like Justin was the only one slugging, Tony very much has that old generation tough it out and throw down mentality and was still trying to slug it out with Justin who is just a much better and powerful striker which who also happened to have the best performance of his career. With MMAs development and new age refs doing a better job protecting fighters its rare you see fights like this these days which is why this seems so jarring.
Dear Patrick, I say this from the bottom of my heart you should be bigger than you are today. I mean that literally. You should get a contract to work with ufc. considering the game understanding you have of this game. Your videos are totally out of this world. You mix them in perfect order and explain step by step to understand each individual from the start of their career to today's state of fighters in 30 min ish. Respect and love to you I wish you nothing else but the best. Keep it up!
As tragic as his story goes, it was Nostalgic watching the rise and fall of one of the greatest LWs to have ever done it. Despite all the UFC's favortism against him and getting screwed by his management team, he climbed the UFC's most talent stacked division and became the World Champion just to have it stripped away because the boss deemed him unpromotable. He took the hard path (no Dana White privilege) and proved to us mortals that even when all the forces are stacked up against you, you can still achieve greatness through sheer will power and determination. He was the David in this Goliath story and we should all be grateful to have witnessed the era of this absolute legend.
Lol what favoritism against him? He was scheduled to fight for the belt 4 times. He got hurt, then Khabib got hurt, then Khabib missed weight, then Covid happened. He wasn’t mistreated in any way
@@Romanus-getting stripped after getting hurt was definitely a favoritism move. Shit he could have fully healed and fought within the same year of winning the belt.
I was expecting to feel a great sense of sadness, and I still do to some degree, but it’s also a beautiful breakdown of life and mental health. It’s also a great tribute to the fighter everyone loved. I really hope he lives a happy life after he finally hangs it up.
I dont know man, I just cant imagine him getting a happy ending. I hope with every bit of my heart he does. But for some reason my brain just says its futile to hope for.
Tony had a breakdown over an injury before a fight when he was on win streaks. I couldn't imagine how he feels now, that he has this unfortunate lose streaks. I'm afraid his family is not able to have an intervention on him to retire, all the best for you Tony for your incoming fight. I'm hoping you won, and hang your gloves and lives well.
This documentary is so well made. Using the silence without crowd in the Gaethje fight really conveys the weight and sadness. Like dismantling of a legend. Subscribed.
Tony's downfall was one of the worst if not the worst in UFC history. What that company did to him and he remained loyal is truly devastating. I remember the most recent cancellations of that fight. Both were nuts. I wish tony the best. He showed a new side to him this last outing. He showed an open lovable side that we rarely see. I hope he comes out more with that side. The paranoid schizophrenic side isnt a great one for him, but thats what hes known for.
I think most people dont know about his mental problems, they make fun of him calling him crazy but not knowing that he is actually crazy. I am pretty sure its not upto him to be schizophrenic or not lol
@@armaanb.6566 it is up to him if he stays on his medication’s and does everything he can to mitigate it. Mental health is a two-way street. The patient must comply with the treatment providers recommendation if not, no results.
Hearing Tony's wife ringing the police desperately trying to get him help hit me hard. Tony will always be in my top 5 most entertaining fighters in history. Great upload, thank you.
All the indicators clearly there. How and why our society does not have a treatment plan when this illness is so common, 1) A person with Bi-polar or Any Mental illness does not understand that they are crazy. Until they are stabilized and rational. They will not acknowledge or often refuse to accept that their brain is not working normally. With EDUCATION-they can understand and accept what they have. Formulate their own plan to stay MENTALLY HEALTHY. Tragically- lots of people die before they get help when the people around them are seeing all the warning signs.
Imagine a future where instead of taking life changing brain damage from Gaethje, he just got strangled by Khabib. And we still had him as a legit threat in the top 10.
@@bendover7841 I still think the tony that fought gaethje beats khabib in 2020 , khabib was mentally off cuz his dad death and only faced one dimensional strikers in his UFC career, tony was not afraid to go to the ground

This is the only fight info video that made my eyes water. To see an actual Ultimate Fighter, which Tony is, have such bad luck is heart wrenching. Our brain is our most precious resource. This video helps do JUSTICE for Tony!
idc what anybody says, Tony is still a legend. His unique fighting style along with his seemingly inhuman ability to fight through pain will go down in history, no matter how it ends.
I'm a casual mma consumer so I'm still learning about some fighters and looked for Tony and this video came up. Man what a video you came up with. Master piece. New subscriber I am for sure!
Man this was one of the first long-form videos I've seen in a while that I didn't pause and watched straight through till the end Very well made Patrick, my heart aches for Tony :( I hope he can manage to get a great win and retire and hopefully take the time to get the help he needs so he can grow with his family.
A great win? A great win would be his immediate retirement and full attention to his current AND FUTURE medical issues. Getting in the cage again is a lose -lose scenario. One more fight isn't gonna set him up financially. One more win isn't gonna make it all okay. It's just one more chance for him to take more damage and make the problems he's currently dealing with WORSE. And sadly, to accelerate the CTE issues that are basically a *certainty* at this time. Tony is gonna be just one more name that gets added to the pile of mma/boxing legends that had their lives either abruptly ended or drastically shortened because of CTE/brain damage. And for you stupid fucks that love to say shit like "Well he knew the risks" or "I'm sure it was worth it".....not only is that utter fucking nonsense, being that it's still a largely taboo topic in contact/fight sports. But do any of you morons really think that he'd do it all over again if he knew it meant he wouldn't be able to watch his children grow up? That the only real memories they'll have of him are the heartbreaking ones where they spent the last 10-20 years of his life taking care of him (and not his 70-90s....more like his 50-60s)? Desperately looking for medical "cures" or any help only to realize that there is none? Oh and the ones there MIGHT be are definitely not for ex-fighters and anyone middle class or lower? This isn't a scenario that's wayyy down the line either so don't kid yourselves. This has already begun awhile ago. Watch an interview with Tony from 10 years ago and watch one from this year. Then know that it's basically unquestionable that 10 years from now he'll be exponentially worse. Sadly he'll be just one more name in a seemingly never ending list. Many mma and UFC legends are already on it, the coming decade or so is just gonna add names that ALL of us now. Hell, we've already seen guys like Hughes and Lidell become shells of themselves (granted a train contributed to Hughes but that "accident" stems directly from the cte). Also, because I'm sure some twat will read this and make some snide comment about how "well YOU watch!"....no, I actually don't. I stopped watching both mma and boxing (and football for that matter) about 5 years ago when I couldn't consciously be a hypocrite anymore. Also happends to be right before I started helping 2 local ex-boxers, that nobodies ever heard of (seriously never even broke into the top 10 during their "prime"), as they lose everything that makes them human day by day....all at 57 and 53 respectively. I know they'd sell their souls to be able to walk, tie their shoes, feed themselves....hell just to be CAPABLE.
I mean, medium-form on RUclips is usually 10-15 minutes, and has been the intermediate length for pretty much the whole time RUclips has existed. 27 minutes (rounding up) is more than twice the lower end and almost twice the upper end of that.
That fight with Justin was a physical beatdown. I don't think there is anyone else, in any division who could have endured that at length and not given up. He has the mentality to endure/overcome but does not recognise that his body is no longer in parallel. I really hope someone is paying close attention to his mental health. Once all this fight game is done and dusted there is going to be a lot for Tony to deal with in his head. With all his previous behaviour how can no one be looking into CTE??? He's taken real punishment causing brain damage and his behaviour may be a reflection of that.
Spot on. I genuinely fear for Tony when the fights stop as he said himself many time fighting is all I know. How do you replace that and having mental health issues. Sadly it's a RED flag. This was fucking heartbreaking to watch 🙏😢
As someone who has no experience, knowledge and any sort of training with any sort of martial arts (recently started BJJ), I appreciate the way your videos are laid out. You’ve got me pumped up and knowing someone like I’ve known them for years and seen their journey. Keep smashing it bro 💪🏽
What an amazing short documentary Patrick! We got to see the ebb and flow of Tony Ferguson's life inside and outside of the octagon. What is so heartbreaking about Ton's downfall actually has nothing to do with his recent losses in MMA, but rather a mental health struggle with what looks like bipolar disorder, which explains his bizarre behavior at times. May he follow through with treatment for the sake of his wife and children.
Incredibly well made short documentary! Using only footage recorded by others to tell a story, while still giving it your own touch, is not easy. You are definitely talented!
El Cucuy will forever be one of me favorite fighters. I got emotional watching the end, when everyone ELSE'S hands were getting raised. The time to leave MMA is on him, and if his last fight was it, El Cucuy, I salute you sir.
AMAZING documentary - shows the other side of Tony, and I love him so much more for it. My best wishes to Tony and his family - he will always be a loved man
The intro of this video gave me goosebumps. "Those who witnessed his fall call hiim Tony Ferguson, but those who speak of his legecy know him as EL CUCUY, THE BOOGYMAN".And then you see clips from this prime when he smiles with a bloody face. Truly the boogyman! I got chills.
Idc how many times he loses he is an inspiration for never giving up even when everything is against him. he knows he is old yet he still fights because he is a warrior at heart
@borsalinokizaru9862 nah man he is one of those people who just loved fighting and of course money is at part of it no shit you think you are going to take brain damage for nothing haha so i’m confused what your point is?
This is sad; he seems like such a genuinely nice guy, but mental health can sneak up and take anyone down. I hope he gets the help he needs and stays on that path.
"You can never be the same after taking damage like that." Khabib was spot on. This game can be cruel. I believe Tony still has the former self within but his mental approach to reality is very distorted. There is a way back but he needs to come to terms with current reality first. There are problems that need to be addressed one by one, Lying to oneself thinking that this is what confidence is will not work. Confidence is not talked in, confidence is felt without the need to speak. Good luck, Tony!
Mad props for making this doc mate! Excellent work and great editing and atmosphere. Absolutely loved it and it and it gave such great insights into Tonys life, I never knew he had such mental problems. I'll always be on your side Tony, hope to see you back some day!
As a fan it's truly hard to watch Tony's downfall, I am sure the best decision should be to retire... but you can take the guy away from the fight but can't take the fight out of the guy. Born a warrior, always a warrior. He would die in that cage without fear. Tony, one of a kind
I thought I had no more tears left after witnessing Tony’s downfall, but after watching this they’re still there 😢. Thank you for making this amazing documentary. ChampSh*tOnly 💯👊🇺🇸🇲🇽
I feel bad for the dude, because he has great potential still, but his obsession with wanting the top spot and not having a proper plan means he keeps climbing a greasy ladder, and always ends up slipping off. I'm not a Tony fan, but I want to see him reach the top - he needs a proper plan.
My guy. THE (LIVING) LEGEND Patrick Gavia is back with another absolute 🤌🏽 MASTERPIECE. I cannot stress enough how much you mean to the MMA community as a whole. Your contribution to art, storytelling, and marketing is UNPRECEDENTED. Forever the GOAT, thank you for existing (and yes….thank you to your parents). 🙇🏽🙏🏽
This hurt my heart so much to watch💔. I sincerely started to tear up listening and watch Tony go through his mental health struggles.. Tony is one of my favorite fighters. I loved his grit, physical toughness and just a straight savage in that 🛑.. He will always be a champion. He never lost that interm belt so he is a champion. As far as the khabib fight not happening, some things are just out of our control. But I do believe Tony in his prime run had a real good chance to de throne khabib and could have definitely handed him his first L. TONY "EL CUCUEY" FERGUSON. YOU ARE THE MAN. A TRUE WARRIOR AND NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR HEART AND GRIT AND THE BLOOD AND TEARS YOU LEFT IN THAT 🛑 AWAY FROM YOU. AS ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST FANS IF I UNFORTUNATELY DON'T SEE YOU IN THAT CAGE THROWING THAT 4 OZ LEATHER, THEN I HOPE THE UFC AND DANA WHITE PUT YOU SOMEWHERE WHERE WE CAN ALL STILL SEE YOUR BIG SMILE AND YOUR HEART FOR THE SPORT WE ALL LOVED SEEING YOU IN.. MUCH LOVE "EL CUCUEY".
tony is a warrior who gained a bit more of genetic troubles then most of us. His issues are not from him being a bad guy, but someone who deals with a sickness. And being able to do all he has done with what he has gone through, is nothing but amazing.
Tony’s story makes me so sad cause it just shows no matter what you do in life mental illness is a real thing. I hope Tony the best as I know he’s a good guy. I met him last year and he was super respectful when I asked him for a photo.
The way you did the Gaethje fight with the piano in the background was some of your most amazing work ever man, really well done, brought a tear to my eye. I hope Tony retires, he's inspired me a lot
After his couple months of training at West Coast Jiujitsu. Tony found a home at Hostility MMA I was the Jiujitsu coach. We hit it off being the same size and backgrounds as Defensive backs/safety’s in football, wrestling and music etc. He was the first one at gym and last to leave . Talk about self motivated.. he was always training. And always trying new things on his own. His ability retaining submissions was crazy. His athletic attributes were like no other! We went for a jog .. lol 😂 you know those guys that have that as if in air .. yeah he just about lapped me. I was in awe and knew he was like a 4.2 in the 40 yard dash. Oh and broad jumping tractor tires .. we had two stacked up they were about chest high .. like a tiger.. lands lightly on top .. repeat.. so I gave him a book to read and was like my tenth copy and I highlighted quotes techniques .. thoughts.. that book was Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. It was liberating opening up his mind. I would teach him a arm bar .. he would be jumping flying spinning into the arm bars on the grappling dummy .. I watched he would ask if the moves would work.. couple adjustments .. hell yeah! We cornered each other we sparred we hung out in Ventura. After winning TUF his winnings were spent on his wedding. At one point he told me he was moving to LA or Orange County and had a list of Jiujitsu instructors . They were all good but were mostly GI oriented . I suggested trying Erik Paulsons and Eddie Bravos . While writing this the Gaejhe beating sound is going on. I gotta stop .
Im not even into ufc but good god your editing skills are by far some of the best i have ever seen, been binge watching your videos and the quality just keeps improving.
oh wow, I didn't know all this about Tony. Look ngl, a lot of the symptoms you described definitely point towards schizophrenia. Very scary illness and ngl, it's even scarier considering who Tony is and what he's already done with his family. Genuinely hope he gets help and stays on the treatment.
Dude that was very tough to watch. As a fan of this support we tend to be tough but this one got me emotional. Tonny will always be a bright star of UFC irrespective of his downfall. We love him so much - The Boogyman. Thanks for the video, love this piece.
It's almost poetic that Ferguson's first loss would be at the Apex with no crowd.. You could actually hear what it took to get a guy like Tony to break.
Tony's downfall has been one of the most heartbreaking stories in modern MMA. Thank you for this tribute, Pat. You never disappoint.

Looking back Khabib most likely would have mauled Tony but he 100% deserved to have a chance at pulling off the upset.
This one was so much trickier. It's difficult to emphasize the impact of things that never happened, especially in documentary format. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@PatrickGavia You did just that, extremely well. Fantastic work, good sir.

It just hurts to watch Tony's downfall he's one of the best lightweights in the history of the Sport and a true legends

The beating that Tony took from Justin was a life changing, i hope he didn't take this fight because everything got worse since that fight for him.
@@kratos8529 a discount Khabib just walked through Charles Oliveira. Its ludicrous to suggest that Tony Ferguson would have anything on the ground against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
This is the only fight info video that made my eyes water. To see an actual Ultimate Fighter, which Tony is, have such bad luck is heart wrenching. Our brain is our most precious resource. This video helps do JUSTICE for Tony!
It’s so hard to see Ferguson lose man. In his prime he was the best. I still remember that win against lee I was so happy for him 😢
idc what anybody says, Tony is still a legend. His unique fighting style along with his seemingly inhuman ability to fight through pain will go down in history, no matter how it ends.
Yessir ! Give Tony the respect he deserves ! He is one of the greatest entertaining fighter to watch … and one of the greatest that ever did it ..
Exactly! all these meme idiots are just kids who lack even basic respect for people.
19:09 - 19:34 absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time
Fantastic work Patrick!
I'm a casual mma consumer so I'm still learning about some fighters and looked for Tony and this video came up. Man what a video you came up with. Master piece. New subscriber I am for sure!
Man this was one of the first long-form videos I've seen in a while that I didn't pause and watched straight through till the end
Very well made Patrick, my heart aches for Tony :(
I hope he can manage to get a great win and retire and hopefully take the time to get the help he needs so he can grow with his family.
26 minutes is long-form to you?
tik tok attention span.
@@markcollard9326 If you think 26 minutes isn't long form content then you're lost in the sauce and have no idea how to adapt with the times.
Amen to that = )
That fight with Justin was a physical beatdown.
This was fucking heartbreaking to watch 🙏😢
that stuff about cameras in the fridge and his wife being a witch sounds like cte.
Absolutely. I can heard the pop sound from gaetje punch..
Nah. Tony has had a drinking problem since he was in The Ultimate Fighter. Possibly even before that.
Yeah, I almost feel like Justin should have let off the gas pedal a little bit in that fight, or try to submit Tony for empathy's sake...
As excited as i am for a new video from Patrick, this one is gonna be hard to watch. Tony is such an awesome fighter to watch
What a powerful yet depressing final act. Genuinely made me choke up. Another great documentary Patrick. Man those final minutes hurt
Same here man... well made documentary👏👏👏
What story man
Kudos for editing it in such a emotional way
This was amazing. Tony became my favorite fighter during his legendary win streak and this documentary was a great tribute to his career
El Cucuy will forever be one of me favorite fighters. I got emotional watching the end, when everyone ELSE'S hands were getting raised. The time to leave MMA is on him, and if his last fight was it, El Cucuy, I salute you sir.
Insane editing skills as always, your clearly a professional and clearly put in that extra effort in every single video. Respect.
Thank you for putting this and all your other videos together! Great work! I will get to them all eventually
But at what price ? What is he achieving with that ? Motivation for what ? Fucking up your health, head and your family for ego ?
@borsalinokizaru9862 nah man he is one of those people who just loved fighting and of course money is at part of it no shit you think you are going to take brain damage for nothing haha so i’m confused what your point is?
The only reason I fell in love with Tony Ferguson is that he is the epitome of "NEVER GIVE UP". CSO😎 great documentary man..💯
This is sad; he seems like such a genuinely nice guy, but mental health can sneak up and take anyone down. I hope he gets the help he needs and stays on that path.
He is not nice. He was great fighter, he was entertaining as fuck, but he is not a good person.
I'll always be on your side Tony, hope to see you back some day!
yeah man me neither i thought he was quirky taken a few shots as many fighters however not psychotic episodes the stuff with his holy water 🥹
great documentary! Awesome work Patrick and team!
As a fan it's truly hard to watch Tony's downfall, I am sure the best decision should be to retire... but you can take the guy away from the fight but can't take the fight out of the guy. Born a warrior, always a warrior. He would die in that cage without fear. Tony, one of a kind
Unless ur Justin Gaethje then you can take the fight out of a guy lol
The sound of punches in Tony Vs Gaethje.. without any crowd noise.. its scary. Props to both the fighters.
I thought I had no more tears left after witnessing Tony’s downfall, but after watching this they’re still there 😢. Thank you for making this amazing documentary. ChampSh*tOnly 💯👊🇺🇸🇲🇽
Love how u do the like and sub into the animation instead of interrupting the documentary in fact I'll sub rn for that
I feel bad for the dude, because he has great potential still, but his obsession with wanting the top spot and not having a proper plan means he keeps climbing a greasy ladder, and always ends up slipping off.
Guy had a fuckin big ego and couldn't back it up.
@@RealMasculinity-x5qdude he was on a massive win streak he definitely proved himself and backed up he’s words.
Half way in, good job!! Really captivating
One of the best documentarians on the platform. Hyped for this!
tony is a warrior who gained a bit more of genetic troubles then most of us.
The thumbnail for this video is unreal. It’s really one of the best out there. Kudos to whoever put that together
Hes still a legend and still belongs in the HOF.
if he deserves to be in HOF with that many brutal one sided match loses then I guess give everyone HOF. Just saying.
ur forgetting his wins streak and he was champ sit the f down u dont deserve a medal for having delusional opinions on the internet@@2013TombRaider
The way you did the Gaethje fight with the piano in the background was some of your most amazing work ever man, really well done, brought a tear to my eye. I hope Tony retires, he's inspired me a lot
Tony vs Geathje was the most brutal fight i have ever seen ! the moment he was shaking his head i felt so sorry for fim
Bro this documentary was amazing ,great way to tell a history, i was fix from the start until the end. GREAT VIDEO!!
Just want you to know 10th Planet guys haven’t forgotten about Tony.
Truly heartbreaking. I wish all the best to Tony and his family. ❤
Prayers that whatever path he chooses next would be kind to him 🙌🏿✨
Im not even into ufc but good god your editing skills are by far some of the best i have ever seen, been binge watching your videos and the quality just keeps improving.
Loved the intro man... amazing work.
oh wow, I didn't know all this about Tony. Look ngl, a lot of the symptoms you described definitely point towards schizophrenia. Very scary illness and ngl, it's even scarier considering who Tony is and what he's already done with his family. Genuinely hope he gets help and stays on the treatment.
Ngl you sound pointless
Schizophrenia is bad but not life damaging tho he can still live long even during schizophrenia
It was hist 4th loss.
@@stefankatsarov5806 Gaethje was the loss that spoiled his win streak and first time we saw Tony break
Good job Patrick Gavia. Amazing MMA Docs as always
