  • First a big shout out to Tommy and 'Tommy L Garage' / RUclips and Instagram / for his excellent DIY video doing this exact job in his 991.2 Carrera T. Without his video I would have kept assumed incorrectly that it isn't possible to add a Sports Chrono clock into a Porsche that didn't ship with it from the factory. How wrong I was!
    I love love LOVE how these clocks look in the center of the dash of Porsches, particularly the later generation of Paragon brand clocks that were introduced with the 991.1 and other models around 2011 onwards such as the the Cayman/Boxsters. They really make the cabin 'pop', while maintaining a refined and elegant look.
    In this video I also show you have to change the color of the clock face. The black unit I picked up from eBay now has a factory quality 'racing yellow' color face and it looks truly epic.

    Happy to report completed this sport chrono retrofit on my 991! Many thanks to James for the great guide on doing this, and the very helpful follow-up emails. Truly an enthusiast!
    Also a big thank you to Tommy L Garage for showing this modification can be done. I suspect many people are retrofitting the clock now because they fly off eBay very quick now!

    Thank you for the extra detailed instructions, I don't know a single thing about wiring so this helps a lot. It's been my dream to install the sport chrono clock on my otherwise perfect 991. Definitely want to go OEM like you because the AliExpress knock off version build quality isn't as good.

    If I tune a C2 base with APR Stage 1, what would I be missing if my car does not have sports Chrono package? Just the mode selection? With the modes oem it also adjusts the suspension right?

    Greetings James
    I had a 997 back in ‘17-‘20 and heavily relied on all your DIY videos.
    Last week acquired a ‘14 991 and was so relieved to see you’re still on RUclips!
    Am considering the chrono face/dial color swap.. Is this a tough job? I’m really worried about the small white hands replacement.
    Thanks in advance for your assistance with this!
    Again, so happy to see your awesome videos!!!
    -Chad

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  8 месяцев назад +1

      Do you mean the trim clips which hold the trim piece in place? Check each of them to see if you manage to bend any of them. You can usually bend them back easily. But also check to make sure there's nothing getting stuck, like the wiring.

    Did you model already have the loom for a clock? I have a 2019 Macan and the dealer has said I dont have the loom to run the clock, I am after another way of connecting it

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  2 месяца назад

      Hey! Just watch the video. I discuss this. My car didn’t have the loom. I bought a loom for a Boxster clock, clipped off the part I needed and then ran the wires into the PCM using some wire taps. Easy.

  • @lalo67
    @lalo67 8 месяцев назад

    WOW!!! I want that. Cound you share the link to where you bought the sport chrono and the housing!

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  8 месяцев назад

      I'll put the links in the video description. You can buy a new clock from Suncoast Parts for around $800, but you can find used units in good condition on eBay for around $250/$300. The trim housing itself and the wiring harness I bought new from Gaudin Porsche Parts, but you can order them from any reputable Porsche parts dealer. That trim piece runs around $150, maybe $50 for the wiring loom.
