    Great channel, interesting fun content. It is always fun to see reviews of more budget acessories,especially for new to hobby people. Even cheap bresser microcular,svbony sv105 cams which are only about $50 compared to $200+ ones, I tried & found ok as I'm new to hobby & don't have so much money. Keep up good work

      Thanks. A lot of great budget products out there. For cams my favorite is a 50$ Sony IMX415 4K. I have a video about it, check it out.
      The SV105 is a nice cam too.

    I’m not sure I would like a zoom after getting into the 82* eyepieces, but great video regardless! Looking forward to the next one.

    999 subs now :D
    Also, how much clearer is the sv191 vs the sv135? It has an extra lens element, so im wondering your opinion. Also, you shouldve mentioned how HORRID the eyecup on the sv135 is. Brand new, its very hard, but still works. When you have it for a few months or a year though, it gets so stiff that you CANT fold it down, and any other attempts just tear or cut the eyecup.
    My sv135 is great for planetary nebulae, galaxies, nebulae, I use it for everything, but I find it harder to focus at higher mags. Is it any better for that?

    • @astralfields1696
      @astralfields1696  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks, you got a cool number :). The extra lens is there to add a bit more correction towards the edges of the eyepiece as the edges are a whole 8 degrees farther away than the SV135, so in this regard the SV191 does really well even in my f/5 12" which can be quite punishing for simpler eyepieces beyond 50 AFOV. Things can get real messy, real fast if not corrected. This is why I sold all of my budget collection when upgrading from the 8" f/6 to 12" f/5.
      As for the eyecup, as I don't wear glasses, I never ever fold the eyecups of my eyepieces, actually I've even added an extra layer of an eyeguard on some of them. So, unfortunately this is not something I ever thought about or heard it anywhere.
      The SV135 and SV191 are the same when it comes down to clarity in the central 50 degrees of view and have the same performance in terms of magnification. The reason you can't focus well at higher magnifications are down to three reasons
      a) Seeing - at any given night you will be limited by that to as low as 150-200x with any telescope
      b) Natural limit of the aperture - beyond 400x for an 8" even in a perfect night it will become blurry
      c) Bad collimation.
      Either way, both the SV135 , SV191 or any nice eyepiece at high magnifications will perform the same. The only reason I upgraded from SV135 to SV191 was simply the extra 8 degrees of AFOV, which is actually pretty big in terms of added visibility area.

      @@astralfields1696 I use an f/5 5 inch newtonian, so any correction is appreciated. I think my collimation is fine, but I haven't touched my primary in a while. I'll fix it tonight though, so I'll update you there. I do wear glasses, but just for near sightedness. The reason why it's kinda important is for any phone snapshots, it's virtually impossible with an eye cup of that size.

      Hello , I would love to but 330$ is a bit too much for me for a Zoom as I normally use fixed eyepieces and the zoom is just for fun. I am sure it is amazing though. I have heard a lot of good stuff. Definitely a lot better than the Hyperion Zoom for the same price.

    Hey!
    Great videos, it's very good to watch.
    I started my adventure with astronomy a few days ago, it started with binoculars, a few days ago the Seestar S50 came in. And here I have a problem whether to leave this Seestar and buy an 8" Dobsonian or return it and buy more expensive equipment like Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 8" Dobson NT 203 mm with smartphone navigation. I'm also seriously considering
    Celestron NexStar 6 SE (much more expensive equipment), have you had any experience with this model? Will the image/experience be better than the Dobsonian 8"?
    Returning to the Dobsonian 8": I understand that it won't end with basic eyepieces and to see something better and clearer you need to get better eyepieces?

    • @astralfields1696
      @astralfields1696  Месяц назад +1

      Hello, The NexStar 6 SE will have by all means a WORSE image than the 8" Dobsonian for the simple reason it collects much less light because of its smaller aperture. The expense there is because of the tripod, tracking and SCT type of telescope, more compact and more complicated optics.
      The Seestar S50, I've heard a lot of good stuff but at the end of the day, it is astronomy through a laptop/phone, you are not looking at the real objects with your own eyes. Some people love it, some people not so much (I am in this camp).
      With all this being said, getting the 8" DOB for a start was the best choice I could make and it is the one I recommend.
      Tracking can be solved with an EQ Platform which I have videos of. As for the eyepieces, depends on your budget. With the 8" you will do just fine with the budget eyepieces I recommend or the SVBony Zoom. If you have some extra money, for sure get better eyepieces which you can use later if you decide to upgrade to a 12" , I cover those in the premium eyepieces video I use.

      @@astralfields1696 Is it worth paying extra for the StarSense Explorer 8" or should I give up and go for the classic Dob, which costs less than half as much?

    • @astralfields1696
      @astralfields1696  Месяц назад

      @@Amarok347 Oh wow, it is double?? No, I would not pay double. What you get is only an extra app that you use on your phone to help you find objects. While it is a nice thing I would not pay double the price for that. I would go with the GSO/Apertura/Stellalyra 8" option as it includes better focuser and a nice 30mm SuperView eyepiece which alone costs around 90$.
      Some people buy whatever DOB they want and they buy the cheapest StarSense telescope they can find, and then simply transfer the thing to their telescope. Worth checking if the math makes sense in your case.

      @astralfields1696  Месяц назад +1

      @@Amarok347 Not sure where my comment disappeared but no , the starsense explorer is not worth the double the price. What people tend to do is simply buy the cheapest starsense telescope and take the mount/app from it. It is just an app for the phone. A much better option is the GSO/Stellalyra/Apertura offerings as they include a 30mm nice eyepiece.

    Hey!
    I bought an 8" Dobsonian, now I need professional eyepieces. What do you recommend for a starter for about USD 500? I was thinking about Baader Morpheus 12.5 mm plus x2 barlow.

    • @astralfields1696
      @astralfields1696  Месяц назад +1

      That is an excellent choice.. The Morpheus is as good as it gets. I would add though a nice 30mm 2"eyepiece unless you got the 30mm SuperView with your scope. It is crucial for wide fields. The best by far is the APM 30mm UFF.. or SlyRover 30mm (same eyepiece). Have a look at my other video about Budget vs Premium eyepieces where I cover it.
      For Barlows, don't spend too much money, check my video about Barlows.

      @@astralfields1696 I forgot to add that the telescope I bought comes with a Baader Hyperion aspherical 31 mm 2/1.25".
      What do you think about Explore Scientific? Because I'm still wondering whether to buy two Explore Scientifics instead of one Baader Morpheus 12.5.

    • @astralfields1696
      @astralfields1696  Месяц назад

      That is a tough choice.. I have the explore scientific 82 degree 11mm (under the MaxVision label). It is an excellent eyepiece but a bit tighter eye relief than the Morpheus. For the 8" I would maybe go with the ES 14mm for a bit bigger exit pupil at the f/6.

      I bought an unbranded (Omegon) apochromatic 2x barlow 3 elements, on Aliexpress for 55$. I use it with my 8.8mm 82° for planetary.
      The SuperView 30mm 68° provided with the telescope (Apertura ad8) is good enough for the moment. I added the ES82 14MM (137$) and the ES82 8.8MM (137$).
      137+137+55=329$. You have to add tax (it was 22$). If you have 500$ budget, you can skip the barlow and add the ES82 4.7MM for 133$ more.

      I prefer fixed eyepieces with a cheap zoom for fun.
