I have read in an article that Rachel is a professional dancer, her forte are hip hop and modern jazz, but she has just started enrolling in ballet classes when she has worked for the movie. It fits the storyline about the girl with not much training but with potential and heart for dance.

Well you can all gripe about her all you want but the people casting the movie obviously thought the minor things you all pointed out weren't enough to keep her from doing the movie. I really don't care about her foot being sickled. I was also a dancer so I do know something about dance. She is beautiful and looked great in the final dance.
@mochabubble and at the end they did not say or have anything to do with her being a good ballet dancer, but still a great dancer. I think the point about the two Center stage movies is how the 'imperfect' ballet dancers found their own ways. Amanda Schull's role wasn't considered a great 'classic' ballet dancer either, but she shines in her own way. To me, the first Center Stage movie was mostly about breaking free, and the Turn it up sequel is more about having the strength to do so.
But Amanda Schull's only problem was imperfect feet and not having completely flat turnout. Technically beyond that, she was beautiful, and you couldn't necessarily spot those flaws as much when she dances. Whereas when this girl dances, she can't even properly get over the box of her shoes (which is dangerous) and her lack of technique is incredibly obvious and distracting. She wouldn't get any role anywhere in a ballet company with the level of dance she has. I like the actress! Just this film was a mistake from the people casting in my opinion
i disagree no way could he have held up a LOT of CS2 TIU without it. And if you watch a LOT of his hip hop his body is always fully articulated through trunk arms wrists neck everything. He may not look ballet but it shows.

And dude I didn't say she couldn't do hip-hop...she can atleast do that, but ballet no! And I think that it's wrong when producers put really bad ballet dancers into big movies like this, because it just makes us look bad! So just trying to show everyone that no all dancers that actually know what they are doing look like this! So maybe you should learn a thing or two about ballet!
i agree i dont think she's that good of a dancer but u got to also look at the movie industry. more than half the time it's not about the dance or the acting, its about the face. the ppl hav to fit the description of the character, even if they are pretty suckish.... it's totally lame i know!

@loveapple27 throughout the entire movie, all "Kate" proves it that she is not a good ballet dancer, AT ALL.
Her bad acting is what ruined the movie
