The music is from Tchaikovskys Swan Lake - pas de deux andante. This piece of music is actually played on the violin. In this case it is played on the piano, that is why many people confuse it with Claire de Lune.

It was probably hard to cast a girl for Kate's part that was an amazing ballet and hip hop dancer, plus beautiful. They obviously leaned toward the hip hop element and took the movie in a different direction from the first Centre Stage, but I think this one is just as good if not better. Get over it prima donnas!

It's the swan lake black swan pas de deux, I'm not trying to sound like a know it all but that's what it is, it's like "part 2" BC if u watch professional companies perform it, they dance a pas, and then they dance together again.
It's always good editing to never show dancers' feet or legs. They're dancing, so close-ups of their faces are correct.

Nope Kenny wormald has been doing Ballet for 15 years of his life. he's a strong ballet dancer as well as tap dancing and jazz! and obviously hiphop :) lol

To all those wondering on the music, I believe it is Debussy - Clair de Lune I was just listening to it on my itunes and this scene came to mind. Hope that helps everyone!

Why is the blonde girl crying? Haven’t watched the movie
She is the "perfect" dancer from the school in the movie and kinda the bad guy of the story. She's the snooty, always gets what she wants girl because she's privileged and spoiled. At one point she caused the main characters to break up because she kissed him during a performance to make the main girl jealous. She is the one that they tell him to dance the final audition with but he knows if he does it that she will get the role so he dances with the MC instead because he knows she is talented but they are not giving her the same chance.
If ballet boys would not be obliged to wear tights but real pants, maybe the people in general would think differently about them. When a ballet dancer is dancing in couple with a ballerina, then his virility is more evident.
korelly Well maybe swimmers should be aloud to wear baggy shorts instead of speedos. You choose the sport, you wear it's garment. No nonsense.
So horrible. What I don't get is why, since Ethan Stiefel was there, making this awful movie, he couldn't at least tell them to get a dance double for the ballet scenes for her. Or at least teach her to tie her shoes decently, and not sickle her feet!

You'll get no argument from me, regarding Ethan S.'s acting~it's not terribly good. But to me that's all the more reason he should earn his salary by helping get a modicum of authenticity into the ballet details. Of course, actually, that's not his job, so I shouldn't blame those flaws on him. I'm happy for those who get pleasure from this movie, or even admire it. But there are many of us who can't help being grated by the many thoroughly unrealistic and truly annoying (to us) factors. I'm simply expressing that, so no need to argue over it.
