  • This a piece that falls into the category of "fun." Something on the lighter side to end off the summer. Often the first thing people ask of an accordionist is, "can you play the Mexican Hat Dance?" And every summer here in the sunny Okanagan Valley we have a wave of men & women from Mexico come up to help our farmers & orchardists care for their crops for harvest. Some of them are even helping fight the record number of forest fires we've had in Canada too. This video is my musical salute to them for their hard work & commitment for the sake of which they miss their beloved families for most of the year. Right now, I'm canning the fruit they've harvested for a sample taste of summer during the coming long cold winter. So here's my "muchas gracias" to all of them!

Yes, God bless Mexico! I believe this piece actually an became an anthem tune for their independence from Spain. Thank you for the reminder!
