    Mirror Force Launcher has an interesting kind of mind trick you can play where you draw mirror force and immedietly set a different card in your spell/trap zone and your opponent assumes its mirror force and destroys it. Though also for that reason, your opponent can know what you are drawing and regular mirror force in of itself is not so great these days. I play a Mirror Force deck on master duel btw.

      @ttt3142 9 месяцев назад

      Haven’t heard of a general term, most likely just because effects that require cards to be pulled “from deck” specifically are really rare. Usually, if you draw a card you were going to search it ends up “only” being a net -1 to card advantage. Cases where it bricks your entire combo are usually only for decks that want specific cards to be in the graveyard and not in hand.

      @tcoren1 9 месяцев назад +5

      @@ttt3142 it's funny how in YGO we differentiate between soft garnets and hard garnets for exactly this distinction.

  • @BoP

    It is insane how it's so easy to transition from yugioh to any other TCG but no one in any other TCG can even fathom the concept of like a negate and destroy. Like MTG is arguably more complex than yugioh but the average game of yugioh will be leagues more complex than anything in modern magic. All the fundamentals of card game design apply to yugioh sans the resource system. As a yugioh player if you grasp that for each given game, then you know everything already.

    • @MansMan42069
      @MansMan42069 9 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed.
      Farfa put it best: Yugioh is like Magic but with infinite mana. You have gas from turn one, what you choose to do is up to you. People who are used to a resource system get overwhelmed by the relatively infinite number of choices. There is no resource system that artificially slows down turns 1-3.

    • @xXSamir44Xx
      @xXSamir44Xx 8 месяцев назад

      I don't think Yugioh is much more complex than legacy, vintage and, these days, even modern. Yugioh doesn't have a lot of real decision points. Combos tend to be just the same thing you practiced, with no thinking required. Same with disrupting your opponent. Unless you do it at the right spot it's just throwing away a card with little to no pay off.

    • @MansMan42069
      @MansMan42069 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@xXSamir44Xx You're conflating what you could do with what you should do.
      The combos you're talking about are what you should do, and these lines are shared and studied by everyone. But that doesn't take away from the fact that mechanically, there are points where other choices could be made. Whether they should be made is a different topic.
      Take a Dragunity deck. Which dragon do you summon off of Heiratic Dragon King of Atum's effect? Potentially any of them. The decision still needs to be made.

    • @kevinkijowski5980
      @kevinkijowski5980 7 месяцев назад

      @mansman2167 Magic having a resource system doesn't automatically mean the game is slowed down. There are decks in the EDH (elder dragon highlander) format that can kill multiple opponents in 1 or 2 turns with the right hand.

    • @BoP
      @BoP 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@kevinkijowski5980 referring to the average game of commander versus the average game of Yu-Gi-Oh. Yu-Gi-Oh will have the faster, shorter turns for a game on average. But each action by the players will have to be layered through multiple points of interaction. And the average number of actions that can be taken by a Yu-Gi-Oh player uninterrupted is greater than the average amount of actions taken in a turn of magic uninterrupted. I don't think Terrors of the Overroot was good for this video. It is and can be good but it doesn't see that much meta application due to being outclassed and a random Ghost Belle or Skull Meister can do more work in that slot.

    farfa should judge the cards based on current format
    she doesnt know when the cards come out and the format during that time (well she may not know current format, but atleast its generalized)
    simple example on the video is [mirror force launcher]
    if [mirror force launcher] come out during [mirror force] good time
    it arguable can be good card, popping card is harder back then so making opponent waste it on [mirror force launcher] is good
    and yes i know opponent will not attack so their card wont be destroyed but it did prevent opponent to beat you
    (i guess you can say it still bad cause popping is harder then the card might not resolve, thats why i say its arguable)
    and what would the verdict for [grinder golem]?
    its good now, but during the time it come out that card basically trash
    would it be wrong if she say "its bad"?
    if the card have been staple
    just put it as additional info
    dont judge the card based on that info

    Book of eclipse used to be bad though

    • @Latias38
      @Latias38 9 месяцев назад +3

      One thing about Book of Eclipse that didnt get mentioned is that well, the only reason it saw play is because Dark Ruler No More wasnt an answer to Kashtira, but this was. Outside of the Kashtira matchup, which is now bearable thanks to the banlist, Dark Ruler No More is usually just a better card going 2nd. Book of Eclipse still suffers from the problem of potentially drawing cards, as well as Ash Blossom just instantly stopping this card in its tracks. Not to mention it can still be easily negated by a monster effect.
      So yea honestly Id still say its overall kind of bad, mid at best.

      @@Latias38 it does have applications being able to be set turn 1 and also it is still better then drnm due to purrelies mere existence. however its not nearly the staple it was for a time period

    ...wait..soooo if any card was good at one point then you are calling it good? Thats idiotic. LAD was ok maybe 10-15 years ago, and comparing that to lets say a modern good card is pointless. Reason being theres plenty of newer cards with slighlty better effects that are considered trash mostly because they came out now when lets say 10 years ago those exact same cards wouod have been considered broken if they were released back then instead of today. Like sone trap cards that are now available are considered unplayable because they are too slow but back in the day they woukd be game changers.

    Book isnt good. It literally only beats kashtira. You dont play it in any other format. Not during a link format, not during a multi negate board format, not into tear format, not into literal any format beaides kash. It wasnt even played when it came out.

      I am a Krawler player and my deck is a Link deck. Book of Eclipse locks your opponent down and you can activate your Flip effects in your turn again. And it is amazingly good against Mikanko, because that deck relies on Equipment spells, but also against Xyz decks like Kashtira and Purrely.

    I agree with her about Gamma.
    Gamma is fucking garbage.
    It requires you to run a completely dead card that does absolutely nothing but clog your hand any time you're unfortunate enough to draw it, AND gamma itself is quite literally useless on any and every turn except the first turn, and even then, you have to be going second.
    It is BY FAR the worst staple hand trap. It's even more situational than droll and lock.
    Card is absolutely fucking terrible.

    You're seriously gonna call LADD a good card in 2023? the card sucks and hasn't seen play since 10+ years ago, so why lie and say it's good?

    • @Farfa
      @Farfa  9 месяцев назад +4

      If you actually watched the video it was mentioned multiple times that if the card was ever good it would count. Just like mirror force counted last video! LADD was one of the best boss monsters ever made so yes, it counts.
