As I have said before, Yugioh is the opposite of other card games, there is no external resource like mana, it is super fast, lots of essay text, but in exchange, people who learn yugioh have an easier time learning other card games, I learned the basics of the pokemon tcg in just 1 hour since basic yugioh was much more complicated.

    • @TheOneJameYT
      @TheOneJameYT  9 месяцев назад +56

I can agree there. Yugioh is great prep for other games because, due to a lack of a management resource like mana, you have to map out your plays around what the opponent can have to stop you. It's the same in other games, but you get the added benefit of being able to narrow down the range of plays the opponent can make based on how much mana they have. Makes it much easier.

I think you should clarify the criteria you’re using to judge cards. I think a better option is to ask whether the card has ever been meta, and also mention its release year. It gets really difficult for the contestants to judge cards without that type of context, because you might run into scenarios where you bring up an old card like mirror force which saw meta play for over a decade and say it’s good, but then show an objectively more powerful card that never saw play due to it being much newer

Little nitpick about this series, non-staples should probably be picked less often. ABC Buster Dragon, Inspector and the Speedroid are arguably decent to important cards in their own decks, but their decks are bad to mid. It makes it confusing for the contestant to interpret and for you to explain, as calling them aither bad or good isn't entirely correct (though it's fair game if the chosen card is bad even in its own archetype, or the whole archetype is garbage).

Because with the ABC-thing, I would have said the card isn't good, which would be true for modern Yugioh, but I would not have gotten a point because I didnt know what you were asking for.
In my opinion the guessers should guess if the card is good in modern Yugioh, because if they have to guess if the card was good when it came out, they don't even know when the card came out. Another problem is that two cards, where one is way better than the other and would still see play in modern Yugioh, whereas the other one was good 10 years ago, might both be classified as "good", because they were both good when they came out.

If you ask me, the reason Trishula is more powerful is because her effect doesn't target anything. However, more and more, the banished zone being the "It's GONE FOR GOOD" zone is so lost, it might as well be your third hand. Shuffling cards, especially big boss monsters that took a lot to summon, back into the deck is a much more devastating blow. Because way fewer cards benefit from being shuffled pre-maturely, it's practically one of the few ways to completely eject a monster from the game. ................Even if more one card combos keep rolling.
So what's Mist Wurm's problem? It targets cards. Against cards that cannot be targeted, Mist Wurm can not do anything to them because it can't target them. Trishula doesn't have that problem.

I think you overestimated Herald of Orange Light. While Drytron Herald decks _would_ include it, it was more of a backup option compared to the ritual monsters which let you negate way more than just on-field monster effects. Also, even though Effect Veiler, Infinite Impermanence, and Herald of Orange Light are all technically -1s, the activation requirements for Herald are much stricter. The other card in your hand you get rid of, unless it's specifically Eva, is basically just a lost resource. You won't be able to use it on the crackback. That's why Drytron Herald rarely used it for its printed effect, and usually it was more just padding to have more fairies (if you needed them) that would be potentially useful for its own effect. I even tried to get it to work in Tear Ishizu but honestly there were better things to put in the deck, since it itself wasn't a useful fusion material, and there were ways to get the millers in your GY without relying on it. I mean, in the first place, the millers were handtraps themselves! It just ended up being either a dead card or a worse option than just using the millers' handtrap effects about half the time, whereas Infinite Impermanence was always useful. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I'm going to assume Herald of Orange Light is busted because you just watch your opponent spend 20 minutes playing 30 cards to special summon a super OP monster on turn 1 and then you just immediately cancel its effect and destroy it, then they concede. You can probably also use a card that benefits from getting sent to the graveyard so the cost isn't even a cost.
    Yup, I was right.

Probably would have given Inspector Boarder a rating much closer to good than bad personally but entertaining as always. Inspector Boarder, unfortunately, saw quite a bit of competitive play at the highest levels when Eldlich was top tier. Still a stun staple but it's definitely not too meta relevant now. But, there was that window of time where Eldlich stun was a top tier deck playing 5 monsters, 2 Lich and 3 Boarder

Please try to decrease the amount of extra deck monsters in this series. Lacking context and having to go through a lot of words just to be physically not capable of making an educated guess isn't a good way to approach the guessing game concept. Boss monsters are important in yugioh but maybe you can show 2010-2014 ones to make it comprehensible for people who have not touched ygo. They can judge if they've been good at the time of release. Archetypal cards in general are impossible to guess without the archetype context. Keep the series up these are hard to get quite right!

I've noticed that the vast majority of people who come on the show have stopping points before the last ~8 years or so, if they ever even played. I think it'd be really cool if for people who had a stopping point before a card got really good - like if someone stopped during the ancient gear limiter era and had no idea that right after that there was a gadget stun anti-meta deck and much later gadgets became broken - to include a card that was kinda mid during their time playing. Or conversely, if a card was SUPER broken when they were playing but got real mid due to meta shift and power creep, like for example I think around 8-10 years ago there was this Shooting Quasar Dragon engine or something but now it's just not worth

Tbh I think you underrated ABC-Dragon Buster.
Due to Link Summoning you can easily generate ressources on the field/hand with the A/B/C pieces and then summon ABC-Dragon Buster on top of all that.
Especially since the introduction of Union Drive and Unauthorized Reactivation.
Its pretty easy to make a ABC-Dragon Buster and IB:Masqauerena and then on your opponents turn after banishing something with ABC-Dragon Buster to make a 4 Material/Negate Appolousa that can not be destroyed by card effects while also generating card advantage by yet again making the pieces leave the field for the Link Summon.
Also Therion "King" Regulus is not only easy to summon in ABC but also lets the equiped A/B/C piece to tag out as Material!
If A/B/C are equiped to ABC-Dragon Buster they offer full immunity against opponents Monster/Spell/Trap effects on top of making ABC-Dragon Buster avoid a single destruction by card effects/battle.
Last but not least if chained correctly ABC- Dragon Buster can play around targeting card effects, Torrential Tribute and Skill Drain.

You're right except mist wurm is your example? Why not something like mirror force that saw play for 20 years? Only lefy because every deck was getting S/t destruction through monster effects and twin twisters came out.
Nowadays, nobody plays mst or twisters and some people play cyclone to hate Eldlich.

4:30 i will never understand how he got to this point. This monster literally is force of will, almost word by word, and its instantly called garbage? xD Imagine FoW was on a creature with a relevant type bro, it would be busted.
