I mean, he also thinks that Pot of Desires is a good card when literally nobody on the ladder above Gold touches it with a ten foot pole. Classic Dunning-Krueger effect supported by chat-sycophants. Every deck searches and consistency is key. You go +1 IF the oppnent doesn't have Ash, which, ya know, people are running at 3 again. Meanwhile you just Kashtira'd 25% of your own deck, likely hitting at least a couple of your most important cards that you now have no access to.

Even Divine Beasts arent immune to it because technically theyre not being targeted by effects, they're being used as cost for the effect to even activate in the first place.

    1. *Pot of Desires* has a VERY hefty cost for most decks, but people still try to find room to run it because, in Yugioh, you're THAT desperate just to go +1 in hand advantage
    2. *Declaration of Tribe* was usefull once upon a time, but too slow and costly nowadays.
    3. *Wicked Avatar* is terrible. Its cool in concept as the inverse, dark version of Ra, but its just not good
    4. If I'm not mistaken *Painful Choice* is straight up banned.
Not only is your opponent being forced to give you a card from 5 you picked, but sending the other 4 to the GY is a MASSIVE bonus if anything. So its an unofficial +4 in card advantage.
    5. *Mirror Force* was goated in the olden days and even now you can occasionally suprise people with it.
But with the amount of protection and negation archetypes have nowadays, its a bit too inconsistent.
    6. *Lava Golem* is good for the same reason Kaijus get splashed into decks that can find the space. Tributing away your opponent's monsters is literally some of the strongest removal in the game PERIOD. Mainly because very few cards can work around it. Which is quite impressive for such an old card.
    6. *Maxx C* is easily one of the most controversial cards ever printed. With Special Summoning being the main form of combo extension , being able to draw every time your opponent does so basically forces them to either win on that very turn or stop their combo halfway. Either way, they're left vulnerable.
The card isn't unstoppable tho as negation like *Ash Blossom* and *Called by the Grave* can prevent its effect from going off.

    • @tripleaaabattery8480
      @tripleaaabattery8480 Год назад +10

      On the Maxx c point:
unstoppable, no, but ocg and master duel have shown that if this card is allowed, it is absolutely metagame warping. It's one big reason unchained never took off in ocg after their support was added: they have to special summon too much to get their wheels spinning

Also, the way Gifts is worded, you can choose 2 cards and "fail to find" the other 2, forcing the 2 cards you chose into the GY. Like a double Foolish Burial (for 4 mana, which is kinda a lot, but still reasonable) at instant speed (spell speed 2).

I guess the difference is Gifts Ungiven is very good just to tutor good stuff and then has some graveyard synergy sometimes, while a Painful Choice is almost entirely graveyard abuse.

Pot of Desires is eqivalent to: (0) Exile 15 cards face down from the top of your library. Draw 2.
You should not play this if your only win-con is a 1 or 2-of, as you'd have a statistically significant chance of losing some games to exiling them. Otherwise the statistical chance of exiling all of the "wrong cards", i.e. 4-of combo pieces or win-cons, all threats, all sideboarded hate, etc. whilst also not gaining enough advantage of drawing 2, thus losing is statistically insignificant.
Silimar to how if you exile the wrong cards off Demonic Consultation you lose on the spot in EDH but people still blind play it in cEDH.
Conversly you can think of this like Serum Powder or Mishra's Bauble, a free way to reduce the number of cards in your deck and thus increase consistency, with a slight drawback.
But TBH if they made a new Ancestral Recall that also had Exile 15 off the top of your deck first, people would still play it.
Lastly this says nothing of the upside of some creatures/monsters that care about the number of cards you have in exile/banishment.

I believe the reason why she does not know that pot of desires is broken is because she does not know how busted yugioh currently is with most duels ending on turn 2, turn 3 max. This means the cards you are banishing you would not have gotten anyway so unless you are banishing something that you would need to search for and actually use, it's nothing more than a major plus. Only a few decks cannot use it and those decks have massive search engines anyway.

Great video, but just wanted to say, if you're using OBS to record, there is a way to seperate mic audio and computer audio. You can increase the audio of the computer without affecting the audio in the mic. I don't know why you guys didn't record the stream/video with seperate audio files to mix it better. I can hear Farfa just fine but Voxy is kinda low. Honestly I would increase the volume for both just because I hate not being able to hear.
