I needed this escape today - My lupus has me feeling awful and my mother in law just had a lung Biopsy done today ( Stage 4 Thyroid Cancer ) Your videos give me a much needed escape and make me extremely grateful for modern medicine .. Thank You 💐
I'm so sorry about your mother-in-law! I was one of the lucky ones who had a wonderful relationship with mine & I was devastated when she passed. I'm sending you a prayer and a good luck wish.
You’re such a wonderful teacher. Thank you for sharing this history of someone I would otherwise have never heard about. You make history come alive! ❤️
Like many people, I'm going through a lot these days. I want to thank you for these videos that bring me entertainment and solace...even if they deal with the occasional beheading. I look forward to watching them as I ready to retire every night.
🇭🇲🦘 As suggested, I watched video about his son's actions, prior to leaving this comment. This wealthy Earl appears to have often clashed with other ... members of the Tudor court, and people at home in Ireland. To be so ill and in the Tower, he sadly died never to return with his wife to Ireland. cont... He may have been 'hot headed' at times, but had always served the Tudors loyally throughout the reigns of King Henry VII and King Henry VIII. He may have had a rebellious nature, but was Not a rebel nor a traitor. cont... "Thank you" Claire for another most interesting account of a man I'd not heard of before today. 💓👑👍
Adrian lV never should have given Ireland to England. Ireland wasn't his to give and I'm sure everybody knew Henry 2 couldn't be trusted to keep his word. Thanks Claire.
@@aine7173 yes he was. But I think it had more to do with the The Vatican not getting enough taxes from the Catholic churches in Ireland are not following all the same rules and regulations. Such as priest should be celibate.
Wonderfully interesting posting. If he were only to be judged by the trouble he got into one might have a skewed view. His contemporaries (or those not fighting with him at any rate) thought him wise and learned and charming. Really enjoyed this; I am sorry so many came to misfortune in the end.
Suggestion for a different era / different kind of video. Please consider doing a longer format video ("in the era of QE I") discussing facts and information about QE I's three, longtime Ladies of the Bedchamber: Blanche Parry, Kat Ashley and Katherine Carey (??). Thank you for considering.
I don't really have time at the moment for longer videos as I do these daily ones and then I do a long video for the Tudor Society each week. However, I have done videos on 2 of those women - ruclips.net/video/eaB9piZbhxs/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/LPq30SRVnes/видео.html
A feisty and passionate Irishman and his Fitzgerald family members make for a very interesting On This Day. Thank you, Claire

Hope you’re feeling a bit better.
I'm so sorry! Sending you healing wishes.
Thanks Claire - my mother is Geraldine Fitzgerald from Roscommon, we are Silkens descendants, fortunately no beheading these days!
Thanks Claire.

I am addicted to your videos. Please keep them coming. Thanks!
Thank you! Will do!
Henry obviously had had enough of the Kildares. Imagine the brothers being executed together. It's too horrid.
Imagine being part of there bloodline mate and living In England 🤣🤣

Thank you!
Quite an interesting man. Thank you for an interesting study of this man. Life was quite dangerous in those times.
Enjoy your Wednesday. Stay safe.

Fascinating - and you've given us a name for the 'Z' that appeared in your quiz! thank you.
At least he kept his head silken thomas and his brothers were not that fortunate. Thank you Claire brilliant talk as always 😊👍👍

I find his a very tragic tale as he was trying to serve the crown loyally.
Thank you

I bought your Teasel's mug! Very cute
Is the Grenville you speak of the same family of George Granville Leveson Gower , 1st Duke of Sutherland ?
I'm afraid that I don't know as I haven't looked into the family tree.
Thanks Claire. I am surprised also he kept his head. Did Henry have a soft spot for him because he was an invalid i wonder?
I think it was probably clear that he had some enemies.
