- Pre-worn guitars are highly controversial. Some love the idea of an affordable, worn replica that’s great feeling great sounding right out of the box and won’t take years getting it to feel the way they want it to. While others think the whole thing is as pointless as buying a pair of distressed jeans, and are offended that anybody would think that those battle scars didn’t have to be earned.
Today we look at a 60's Fender Roadworn Stratocaster that is actually over 10 years old and go over it in more detail so you can decide for yourself which camp you are in.

I played one in a guitar store even if i couldnt afford it. I dunno how, but this resonant body was so amazing, just felt the tone through my whole body and the notes were popping out of this guitar so easy , it was awesome
I have that exact same guitar. It even smells old and stinky. Love it.
I hope they go back to these at some point. At the early quality level. The Vintera series doesn’t hold a candle.
Comprehensive review - thanks! Just picked one up. Excited to play it
Excellent review! I really enjoy hearing you talk about the guitar and sharing details instead of just playing it like most demos out there.
The checking is all from the factory. And they did a great job at it, too. Some of the best checking I've seen.
So nice to see your videos. I brought my first strat after you reviewed the Squier deluxe. Gave it to a friend and now just ordered the limited road house, with the buttercream look.
Thanks for the review. I am seriously considering one of these.
Aside from the Road Worn series theres also the old Highway One series which also feature a nitrocellulose finish on them if you’re looking at getting a Fender with a nitro finish without busting the bank. Albeit without relic work from the factory.
Great review Tony, I love your guitar. Nitro finish is the best and honestly the road worn series are my favorites strats. I wish I could get one someday.
Loved your review. I just bought a used one (a 2009). I also have a Fender Custom shop (1967) relic. For the money, the road worn is a great value. Thanks for posting.
Interesting you mentioned the frets, had same exact problem with mine, and even a few frets that were not seated properly. Easy fix with a few simple tools. Leveled and re-crowned the whole neck. I also blocked the bridge and its a good sounding guitar. Very happy with it now.
I love the checking on mine. My old man was jealous. Also came with the Clapton mid-boost pick up mod. Yay for 2008 guitars from eBay!
I have the pf version, Great review you are so right in my opinion thx
Nice review/demo, Tony!
Thanks for the review because I decided to buy this beautiful babe (road worn strat).
I just bought a 50's Road Worn Strat from 2017 in 2-tone sunburst. Really looking forward to owning one!
Excellent review. Very informative.
Looking forward to your upcoming road worn tele video. Im thinking of getting one to compliment the strat.
I have a relatively new road worn 50's strat and I too am very happy with it. I think it's both great value and a terrific feel.
